    Dude I just picked up a Standard 50’s Epiphone gold Top and it is absolutely fantastic I have zero complaints 💪 I recently went to my local music store to try a Gibson Les Paul standard and I know there must be a difference but I’m not paying $2,800 for it 🤦🏻‍♂️

    If it looks as good in person as the pics did then I'm all good.

    interested in this guitar how is the neck compared to other guitars since I won't be able to try it like its no baseball bat neck is it ? or is it just comfy all around ? cuz I like not to skinny and not to thick necks let me know !! great vid

    • @GhostDragon1182
      @GhostDragon1182  3 года назад +1

      I don't know if I would call it a baseball, it is noticeably thicker than the '60s standard or most Les Paul necks. I usually prefer a modern C shape, but I do not find the profile on this to be uncomfortable. I'm not picky in that I have to have a specific neck, but I'm picky in that if it doesn't feel good, then I will pass. Sucks you can't try it because ultimately that is the best way to decide. If you're used to modern Fender necks and like those necks, you may want to go with the '60s Standard, or Les Paul Classic.

    • @taketwo_duo
      @taketwo_duo 3 года назад +2

      It's all personal preference but of all the guitars I have had this is the best to play for me. I've had thinner necks but the 50's is bang on.

    Hey,
    which one did you like better?
    50s or the 60s?

    • @GhostDragon1182
      @GhostDragon1182  4 года назад +1

      That's a tough one to answer honestly, they're pretty close, but if I had to choose, the 60's standard just because of the neck profile, it's a bit more comfortable. That isn't to say that I find the 50's neck is uncomfortable though. That being said, they're both solid instruments and if you have a brick and mortar store you can try out both at, I suggest doing that.

    The black fingers is due to the strings Epiphone uses from the factory. Clean them or change them & that goes away.

    • @GhostDragon1182
      @GhostDragon1182  3 года назад +1

      It's something they put on the fretboard, changing strings doesn't help, it only goes away upon cleaning the fret board.

      @@GhostDragon1182 50's Tribute, the brown paint on the back chipped off easily. On the front it wore away under my arm showing the cap after a year. The frets were sharp at the ends, I had to file them down. Traditional Pro 11, the neck was so thin it wasnt pleasent to play. The tone knobs went very loose after 6 months. The fretwork was very ropey along the neck making it difficult to get a normal let alone low action.

    • @GhostDragon1182
      @GhostDragon1182  3 года назад

      @@taketwo_duo Your paint issues are just a side effect of having a nitro finish, unfortunately. The sharp fret ends, while they should be addressed by the shop that sells the guitar, are something that is beyond the control of the companies. If they have them set up and everything is fine and the guitar ends up in a dryer or more humid environment, they can't account for that. The Traditional Pro, at face value, sounds like returning it was the right thing to do.
