The Epiphones are indeed legitimate Les Pauls... Gibson has done a great job at raising the upper end Epiphone to be about as good as anything. If you love a Les Paul Standard...This guitar is tangibly the real deal and certainly does the job.
It's barely visible, but i think i noticed a scarfjoint which makes it better than any Gibson because they're always an accident waiting to happen. Ask any luthier, a scarfjoint is much stronger and more reliable.
I like the way they make the scarf joint less noticeable, instead of simply cutting a straight line across they hide it in the bevel or stinger or whatever you call it… looks great and definitely stronger.
I have a friend with a $15,000 bicycle that he doesn’t ride I have a friend with a $27,000 motorcycle that he doesn’t ride i have a friend with a Custom Shop Les Paul $5,800 but he can’t even play a chord I can afford a Gibson but honestly I don’t believe they are worth $3,299 I don’t care if the Epiphone has a different finish or different pickups sitting in my living room the Epiphone works fine for me 😐 I know some people think they know better and they think if you don’t play a Gibson you are stupid but I believe the opposite 😎
There's a market for Gibson buyers, and that's all fine and dandy. But, for us regular folk, there's no reason to spend that kind of money on a guitar when there are so many excellent instruments available for under $1000. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either a snob or just plain ignorant.
Great demo! Thank you for playing through an amp and mic’d speaker cabinet. That’s the only way to get a true representation of how a guitar sounds IMNSHO.
I don't think any owner of a Chinese-made Epiphone honestly believes "Better than Gibson?" But the good news is that it doesn't even matter. I've got two Epi's, and about to get my third (the 50's LP Std) because they are freakin' great guitars. My ES-335 and Sheraton II Pro are gorgeous, with a superb fit and finish. The ProBuckers are fantastic PAF-style pickups. Anyone coming here to trash Chinese Epiphones is, frankly, talking out their arse. That factory in Qingdao is killing it, and has been for years.
Weird analogy. It would have made more sense to mention Lexus and Toyota or Genesis and Hyundai, since those are the luxury counterparts to each of those companies. Go Birds though!
I own both and no not better but just as good and the epiphone will outlast the Gibson because of the better poly finish so in 20 years when that Gibson paint is all sticky and rolling under your hand in little dingle berries and the wood is swollen from the damp air getting through the finish the Epiphone will be perfect
Not good tone and Definitely needs better pickups but the build might be better than a Tribute. Probably worth the money for the 59 with custom buckets though I have not heard them either. The Gibson Les Paul Tribute sound really nice and is as much as the Epiphone. The build quality of the tribute is surprisingly bad as I own one and the Gibson standard is much better which I also own. Over all Gibson out of the box sounds good and plays good but the build sucks. Really bad attention to detail even at the 2700 range the quality is still bad. I don’t own any Epiphones right now but have had 3. The 58 reissues from 8-9 years ago were really nice. The low end Gibson is borderline ripoff at 1300. They are too concerned about their custom shop guitars. I love the sound but man very expensive for what you get.
Is a Chinese guitar with a thick plastic finish, cheaper pickups, cheaper parts, mystery wood (hint, it's not the same as what Gibson uses) better than a real Gibson made in Nashville? No. Just no. You can like it. That's fine with me. But the clickbait nonsense... sigh.
what ever made you believe your gibson is ANYWHERE near the quality they were years ago. NOT THE SAME WOODS EITHER, OR ELECTRONICS, and yes, your Gibby is loaded with Chinese parts Pal.
Problem is, price point vs quality means they are largely better than Gibson stock at the moment. Unless the name is important, which for a lot of players it is, which is fine.
Chinese have cheaper labour and probably better craftsmanship. Cheaper parts for the same quality too. They are a 5000 year old culture that achieved better woodwork than the USA over a thousand years ago.
Most Epiphones are junk. There are exceptions but the electronics, hardware and wood are very subpar to Gibson USA. There is a great YT video showing what kind of wood they actually use. Alot of times they claim Mahogany but its actually not. Chinese electronics are junk.
I used to feel the same way, but they have stepped up their game. A lot of the new ones have cts pots and orange drop capacitors now. Thats the case on my Firebird, LP junior, and 335 that I’ve bought recently. I have Gibsons, PRS, and Fenders, and still feel they are great guitars.
The lower priced ones probably are but the stuff around the $500 range and up is great for the price. I'm not even that great of a guitar player and I get really impressive tones out of this exact guitar sure I had it setup but it holds tuning very well.
All of the Inspired by Gibson and Inspired by the Custom Shop have USA electronics. I got rid of my shitty Gibson Les Paul 2006ish model after I got the inspired Epiphone. I also have the Firebird and it rocks. Can a professional player tell the difference, probably but not many professional full time musicians hanging out on these pages. When I see the most recorded guitarist in Nashville, Brent Mason, bring his Epiphone Slash Les Paul to the studio and use it on tracks, that says enough. Some of you guys are so worried about the name on the headstock and will go to great lengths to justify buying a $2K more expensive guitar so you can take it to your once a month gig down at the pizza place. No one cares what you’re playing as long as it sounds good. Lots of touring musicians these days are playing import Fenders, PRS and other guitars but hey, what do they know? Good grief.
Yeah well I had the Gibson version, and it SUCKED. Gibson's quality control has gone to Hell. Ad to that Gibson DID NOT make their version historically correct. A real 50's Goldtop HAS A LONG NECK TENON. The Gibby does NOT, the EPI DOES! Being made in Nashville means nothing to me these days, the Epi sounfs just fine through my Plexi.
I love the chunky neck on my Epiphone LP Standard 50's. Also, I love the Probucker 1 in the neck position. Great guitar for not a lot of money. ✌️🎸
Great review, great playing!
I'm awaiting the same guitar after acquiring a second hand one from ebay-cannot wait!
Have a blessed day!🙏

Have 2020 LP standard. I have owned Gibson, and this epi is just amazing....
Absolutely love your review! You need to do more reviews. Keep it up.
Bro! Love the way you play, man. Love my Epiphone, doubt I'd ever buy a Gibson over an Epiphone.
Awesome video. I have that exact guitar with a Boss Katana amp. Love it!
The fact that you started off with Paul Kossof and the rocking beard convinced me to subscribe. 👍
Lovely tones. Great looking guitar. The chunky necks are nice. Thanks for an excellent demo. 👍
I have The Heritage Cherry 2022 Epi Les Paul 50s Standard. The Looks and the Feel and Sound make my Heart Happy✌❤🤗
fantastic review and playing
I just bought a 2005 standard and i love it.
Nice playing, beautiful guitar!
Nice review. Loved your playing.

Played my exact same guirar for A Month everyday when i got it 🏆
A nice amp and a nicely set up Epiphone Les Paul and save $2,500 is like hitting the lottery without paying taxes . lol

My Gibson never stays in tune like my Epiphones will for days weeks sometimes once in awhile I have to slightly tune it
@@motorcyclemark2889maybe his particular guitar is an “Episode” 😂
same
These Epiphones have 18:1 tuners whereas the Gibbo only has 14:1… that might have something to do with it but I wouldn’t swear to it.
Neck les paul Standard ni lagi tebal dari les paul Custom kan? Apa pendapat ko kalau banding dua model tu? 😊
i love mine
And nice playing too
❤❤❤ love and support ❤️ 💕 💗
Can I ask why you prefer the head/cab setup over a combo? This one of the age old debates in guitars and I am wondering why you went that route.
Just makes it easier to swap heads out. or perhaps use a different cab for other content creators here.
@@rhythmNbeardkeep up the great videos. I bought this exact model based on your review and I use reverb because “it makes me happy” too! Cheers bud!
I have a epiphone les Paul 60’s do I need to switch to this one or does the 60’s gets the job done too
You gotta catch em all. More guitars = happiness

A Toyota Corolla is not better than a Maserati , but the oil changes don’t cost $400 bucks . Corolla please , thank you .

A Toyota is better than any car if we’re talking reliability
It will hold its value way better then the so.called luxury car will ever do
Maintenance on both “cars” is the same though i.e new strings
Just a question of whether you want the Maserati or whether the Toyota will suffice
Rhythm & Beard! Fantastic!
This guitar is the one!
Yep but mines Heritage cherry burst its perfect
@@motorcyclemark2889 yeah no you’re right that ones actually way nicer looking so yeah
