  • As part of Arthritis Awareness Week, Arthritis Australia and the Australian Rheumatology Association are beginning a campaign to give a voice to the almost 300,000 Australian women with rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the most serious form of arthritis. It is not a rare disease, affecting around half a million Australians. Of these cases almost 60% are women.
The Women's Insights into Rheumatoid Arthritis book features the stories of 12 inspiring Australian women with this condition -as shared with their local female Federal MP.
The limited edition book was produced to increase support from the community, healthcare professionals and government for greater understanding and better management of rheumatoid arthritis. It has been supported by healthcare company Abbott with an unrestricted grant
This is a short film of some of the women's stories.
To download a copy of the book please visit www.arthritisaustralia.com.au

This is wonderful! I posted this to facebook because of the misunderstandings as to what RA is. Thanks so much!

Wow. Nicely done. I would not at one time had the chutzpa to talk about it, let alone put it on the internet. But RA changed my life dramatically in so many ways. Watching this video made me weep for all of us with RA, & how strong this diagnosis will make a person. Even though it's by far one of the most devastating things to happen to me, it has also made me a better person, in strength and tenacity. Love to all who suffer from this beast, and to those who love us, thank you for understanding!

Such strong women. I didnt know there was a prejudice with diseases that cause one to hide or ignore the symptoms. Very inspiring, and amazing women.

      Hi Mark
Thank you for your message. Glad you found the video inspiring.
The pins were specifically designed for the launch of Women’s Insights and are no longer available. Sorry we are unable to assist but do wish you and your wife all the best.

+wildblue67 that is ok, my beutiful wife has stood by my side while I have fell apart from this life changing disease. most of the time I don't feel much like a man anymore but she is always at my side. I wanted to get her one just for a thank you. seems to be a bad deal for more females to go through this pain then men. another proof that women are very strong and I would be worse off without my loving wife. don't give up hope!

Interesting the amount of women experienced the onset after giving birth. RA is triggered by trauma.
