Super informative viddy! Thank you. Where I live concrete is far away so when it gets to us it has already been an hour in the truck. You are always trying to train up someone the morning of the pour and it usually gets pretty intense when the mud starts flowing You guys have it dialed! I can't imagine pouring more than one in a day.
Another great video Mike. Everyone seems to know what they are doing. Great job to the rackers. Very informative video, thank you. Looking forward to the next job.
Mike, great video thank you for taking the time to make it. I am a homeowner, normally I use the top of the forms as a reference when screeding, making sure all of my stakes are below the top of the form. For a 15 foot wide driveway if my stakes are below the top of the forms, could I use a 16’ power screed running it on the top edge of the forms? Thank you in advance for your help!
Looks like a good slab. Out here in North Dakota, you don't see laser-transit "wet pads" like you call them, we use stakes (or rebar with the Y-saddles) that hold a screed pipe. The vibrating screed just rides right on the pipe, and the subsequent hole is bull floated in. Everything else looks familar though, from one cold weather concrete guy to another. Good to see other contractors saving their back not hand screeding the whole thing.
great videos Mike thank you! If you ask for a 5 slump with water reducer will it be a 5 slump then get thinner when they add water reducer ??or do they end up a 5 slump with the water reducer??
Mike, Love watching you and your crew work. Haven't tried the plasticized, but you are starting to convince me to try. Does it change the time to finish or lengthen hardening time? Thanks for the work to produce your content. Concrete work is hard enough let alone the time to edit and add commentary to your videos. Thank you.
Mike. I am in the state of GA. I am just entering the concrete business and your videos have helped tremendously. I am having trouble ordering the concrete as I don't know the vocabulary very well. Could you make a video that could possibly help?
Go visit with the batch plant. Vocabulary varies in different regions. I find that even in the same area, different companies each have their own way of expressing things. If they are not real forthcoming , then ask them what other contractors often do in the situation you are facing. Cold weather, hot weather, and other factors may radically change what you should ask for.
We use micro-fibermesh, you can't really see it unless you really look. We only use the wire mesh sheets if the plan calls for them. Most floors are spec'd with fibermesh nowadays.
Great work as always. Can you use a water reducer if your doing a driveway or patio that has a 2% slope? For a slump of 7 how much of a slope can that do?
is that a 6" stemwall? If so wouldn't the insulation show if they didn't cover slab w flooring? Maybe you have to use 2x8 walls in Maine for more insulation which would cover foam.
I used to tell the driver when he showed up, "I want a 5 3/8" slump!" Then watch the look and eye roll!😃When guys got used to it, I usually was subjected to a stream of profanity! Shocking!😊The Old Retired Laborer NY
Mike! Do you think a guy with 6 months of concrete experience could start a business doing patios, driveways and walkways and go out on his own and be successful? I think I remember hearing you had 2 years experience before you went out on your own. Curious what you think. Thank you so much for these educational videos!
If your thinking about going into business remember it’s constant work however don’t worry about how long you been doing it. When you start you take on smaller work anyways. You will make if you want it. Just go do it.
I've ran one ever day for a company in st Louis on streets we average 200yds a day 6 to 8 inc pavement I use it on everything exposed stamped I I truly believe you should know how to knock down before you run one and you can really mess stuff up with the thing I have a 4 foot blade for sidewalks I still hand drag only when nessary out of the stone age I say
Thats how we do it in pa..

Excelente video saludos desde chile 👌🏻👊💯
Good video Mike I hope the new guy did better this time
Hi mike do I need to use the concrete helicopter after using the bull float.?
If you want a power trowel finish then yes. But the concrete has to firm up quite a bit before you use it.
For a garage’s do you Use Metal Wire mesh (4x8 sheets)or just add fiber mesh into mix? Do you see the fiber after it’s been power troweled?
We use micro-fibermesh, you can't really see it unless you really look. We only use the wire mesh sheets if the plan calls for them. Most floors are spec'd with fibermesh nowadays.
great job
Hello Mike, what consistency of concrete is this? Is to S3 or S4?
nice vids...how much Water Reducer did you add per yard?
How is the structure from the slab up to the freezing point? How is the 3 feet depth filled in? Thank you.
WOW - No expansion foam around the plumbing stub ups ? Out here in California, it's required by code.
Great work as always. Can you use a water reducer if your doing a driveway or patio that has a 2% slope? For a slump of 7 how much of a slope can that do?
What is the slump?
A;; our trucks have a scraper on them. Usually a diamond blade cut in half with a handle welded on
I have that power screed. Filled it with 50¢ in gas and used less than half for a 60 foot driveway
is that a 6" stemwall? If so wouldn't the insulation show if they didn't cover slab w flooring? Maybe you have to use 2x8 walls in Maine for more insulation which would cover foam.

❤❤❤❤❤
We spray foam under the floor..
U have a woman in ur crew isn’t that to hard work for her? Blessings to u mike / crew ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I need a gc contact like that! Ha
I would never pour a floor inside a fountain without drilling every 2 ft. and using at least a rod 2 ft longh for a dowel.
I'd always would want to double the sq ft for a basement and ease of future repairs to electrical and plumping
👍
muds to wet
I wish i can pour straight out of the truck ,,,it will save me 1000 bucks every time
^5
I saw you got the lazy phone guy again!🥸
Lolz
