I always wanted Ronnie Drew's beard and voice. Well, I'm getting near to the first one at least. A fantastic bloke and it still upsets me a bit to know that I will never meet the fella.

I really miss the eloquent turn of a phrase that Ronnie mentions. When going back and looking at the way people spoke it seems we have lost the spark of something important.

The influence of television has changed the way Irish people speak. I never said: Where's my shirt. That is not Hiberno English, our mother tongue.. I Used to say Where's me shirt. In my early 70's I find meself speaking Hiberno English again. I gave my television away year ago and not longer listen to the radio. I get real news on a few RUclips channels like Mahyar Tousi who is attracting more viewers than the BBC in England.
