Released in 2016, the nose behind it is Rodrigo Flores-Roux, who is a senior perfumer now at Givaudan, but has worked at a variety of different brands, such as Dolce and Gabbana. He did some stuff for Kylie Minogue and he did the whole John Varvatos range, or at least the vast majority of it.
01:30 Composition
Vintage opens with chamomile, rhubarb, fennel and basil. It's also quite boozy, which is reminiscent of Danish akvavit. The heart consists of juniper, patchouli, and jasmine. Meanwhile, the base delivers tonka bean, orris root, and oakmoss.
03:30 Wake & Strength
John Varvatos performs quite decently overall. If you apply it in the morning on the way to the office, you'll need to reapply probably around lunchtime. The projection stays close to the skin but the sillage is quite good.
04:13 Seasonality
Best worn during autumn and winter, John Varvatos Vintage could also be used during the early spring. Otherwise, it isn't very effective during warmer weather.

John Varvatos Vintage is generally referred to as soapy and boozy in a good way. Some people find that the head is a little off but most will agree that it's much more sophisticated during the dry-down. Overall, it's best received by a younger crowd.

Best worn by mature teens and men in their twenties, it's a great casual fragrance for going out or for school. Furthermore, Vintage is best worn around the evening. Its masculinity is also quite strong.
06:08 Presentation
The bottle has a nice design, which is slightly let down by the box. Otherwise, it lives up well to its name. The atomizer produces thick droplets, which isn't to everyone's taste. Nevertheless, it offers great value and will cost around $40 for a bottle.

John varvatos has some of the best fragrance line ups, if they knew better they would release an edp version of these scenes

I like this one; on my second bottle, actually. Upon first spray, gives off this vibe a-la-Pasha de Cartier, but any trace of minty-ness fades away in turn for a subtle sweetness -just how you described its evolution, CP. Your approach is on point 👍
