Alan is the best. There are many details like that I miss and that make me helpless every time I see them live. laziness? grudges? I don't know, but I don't understand how 2 people are not capable of replacing one. Thanks.
Wilder, and it's not even close. He was the architect of the group, largely contributing to their dark, gothic sound. DM is my all-time favorite band, and I still love them, but they've never been the same since Wilder left.
I saw DM in Vancouver in 2023. I was so excited to see that Waiting for the Night was on the setlist, but it was terrible. Dave and Martin were great, but I wanted to change what Peter did to the music. I miss Alan; he was the mastermind behind the music. DM hasn't been the same since Alan left.
Exactly! Since 1998 Peter plays it like this and to me it feels wrong. A fine example of how many precious details got lost over the years. The band seems to have stopped listening carefully before putting together the live setlists and splitting up the keyboard parts.
i dont want to be rough with peter but i think he shouldn't have gone back to Alan's masterpieces and respected them to the letter. after Alan's departure after SOFAD, the last album where I liked ALL the music on the same album was EXCITER, then Peter appropriated the group too much through his way of playing and I only recognize DM in rare pieces. I continue to appreciate the group and their talent, despite the change in Dave's way of singing as well as his increasingly exaggerated gestures, but today I no longer recognize the DM "style" which managed to cross the ages while keeping a unique signature, the one that Alan had the talent to convey in the songs. as an early fan, it's hard to say, knowing how hardcore fans we are. But that's just my point of view and I wanted to share it.
Peter Gordeno is sure a good musician / keyboard player; but he's incomparable to Alan Wilder, because A.W was a producer also, and the man behind the unique DM sound that we all loved, not just a trained musician, Peter Gordeno just plays the samples that he is given to play. Him and the drummer Christian Eigner are not involved in the studio, only live musicians.
Depends on if you prefer Originals or Cover versions . Alan all day long because he also gets the true actual meaning. See him play Somebody with Martin
Gardeno and let me say one thing with all New Eletronic music instruments Gardeno and Gore specialy bring New atmosfers to old songs , despite de incredible talent of Alan Wilder ... I think Depeche Mode can reedit a New álbum of hits with that N new arranjements and own remixes playing live !! music is timeless and almost infinity in possiblities ...
obviously Alan but you have to "hear" the all context in your head, Gordino didn't get completely the real "juice" of DM, most of the times when I hear the extended part of Enjoy the silence I close the tab with the video
By the way, Alan also didn't took his respect between group members. He was paid as less as Fletch who did nothing musically in the band history. And in the first few YEARS he earned £100 per week! After that all you still love Mart & Dave?
I would say that Peter Gordeno's solo is basically Martin Gore's solo. I don't think Peter Gordeno decides the arrangements for the versions of the tours.
Fletch in wims was the initial noise, the inverted tremolo guitar in the verses, the high string of the second verse, the guitar accompaniment to the solos, the noise at the end and nothing more. 😊😅
hm. to talk about a "solo" in this case , which is only a simple melody, is a bit irrelevant. to start a discussion on the internet about a thing like this...hm...thats a bit stupid, in my eyes
@@EtsiJuuretYou are absolutly right about that Things! It's sad but true. D&M are 2 arrogantly guys, without Thankness and Respect to Alans great Work.
Peter Gordeno!! Enough of living in the past. So much so that they criticize Depeche Mode that no song from Recoil surpasses any from DM post Alan. Learn to enjoy DM.
it's right not to live only in the past and peter gordeno is an excellent musician. however, I believe he never achieved a place in fans' hearts. Speaking of Recoil: I think Alan never liked the success of the general public and his role in DM was great in the arrangements, not in the songwriting. The reasons why he left are now known and what matters today is that Depeche Mode are still there, they make good music and are always very popular. Long live Depeche Mode!!!
Ain't gonna happen fan boy's/girl's. Move on. Alans soul just isn't in it anymore. Dave and Martin are the main song writers now. Just appreciate new albums are still coming out and if you can't accept that watch Devotional on repeat ;)
Which version do you like the most?
Peter Gordeno or Alan Wilder?
Like both
Alan version
Alan😊
Alan Always. He has more of a connection.
Alan...
Alan, of course. Not just because it sounds moodier, but because he wrote the part itself!
Yupp👍🏽🎹🎵🥁
Sounds like Gordino is simply mirroring Martin’s guitar solo, whereas Alan was plying a support melody underneath. I’m in favor of the latter
Alan is the best. There are many details like that I miss and that make me helpless every time I see them live. laziness? grudges? I don't know, but I don't understand how 2 people are not capable of replacing one. Thanks.
alan, it's simple, his signature is just unic.
Wilder absolutly

Wilder rules,always!

Why are we asking this question when we know the answer already 😅
Which version..?
Only one note difference. But i prefer Alan's music talent to find the perfect sound.
Alan Wilder 🙌🙌🙌
Nobody can live up to Mr Wilder
Alan, of course.
Alan Wilder
ALAN 🔝🎹
Alan of course, I miss that melody. Very dramatic.
Mr Wilder
Alan Wilder!

Alan is the creator of the Depeche Mode sound.
This is the answer to hundreds of questions.
Alan forever
Alan wilder is the synth’s master!
Alan
Why is there a stuck note buzzing during the entire video?
To prevent them from displaying the sound
Wilder RULES!!!❤ Gordeno is just a replacement.
And three had to be replaced in DM by him
He really belongs in a hotel bar somewhere. Nowhere near Alan Wilder’s genius or execution.
Yes and no. Gordeno is a hired musician, not a member of DM.
Alan querida,

Alan Charles Wilder!!! 💖💖💖
I would prefer the obnoxious constant buzz throughout the video not be included. It would be easier to judge.

No matter who plays this solo, it belongs to Alan Wilder.
This isn’t even a test Alan is better Than Gordino by a long shot
I would to see dave, Alan and Peter to make an album together
Alan - Depeche
The Master : Alan Wilder !!!

Alan's.
Too bad he left DM. With him the sound was always amazing.
How cool it would be if Alan joins Dave and Martin again.
They don't want him anymore. They're happy with their session musicians, recording bad albums & doing crap tours.

get over yourself
Alan 100%
also i don't like the way gordeno plays never let me down again
Alan surely....if I had to choose...
*sigh* Alan was so integral. Any word on him creating new work? The musical wasteland needs him.
Omg it's basically the same, don't be so "ultra" fans
Alan
Well, that "basicslly" is what makes a huge difference.
I prefer Alan Wilder style by far.
OMG - are you THAT deaf. Or just a super unmusical? 😳
