It's not the way this tremendous character and all of the legendary associated story lines should have concluded. It's such a shame that backstage upset led to this. It's rushed, implausible, not very well acted (if I dare say so of such usually great Brookie cast members.) and just a blow to the viewers who'd spent several years watching the Jordaches develop. Mandy went on to just fizzle out of the show. Rachel was at least built upon, but was sadly not involved in anything particularly memorable. I was never fond of the way it went following the guilty verdict. Following the characters in prison felt very unnatural for the show and it felt like the story had gone past its peak and was being stretched out a little too far. I can appreciate why Brookside wasn't prepared to ditch its biggest characters, but I actually think they should have been brave and ended the characters with the outcome of the trial. Either way, guilty or not guilty, it would have been a solid ending to either have them go to jail and depart the show or have a not guilty verdict and have them depart for a new life a few episodes after.
How can you say this was bad acting? The actress who played Mandy acted her socks off-and she said she had a breakdown after this story ended. I think her name is Sandra maitland.
@@faltskog36abba Not to be nitpicky, but I did say "not very well" rather than "bad" acted. The distinction being, I'm not convinced despite the effort. In fairness, they were probably doing the best they could with a clumsy situation. But from Sinbad's dry tears, to Mandy's unfortunately comical scream (It made me jump. Then I laughed out loud about how unexpected and alarming it was.), the whole thing just didn't have any emotional impact upon me. I didn't believe in it, there was no strength behind it. It all felt like painting by numbers. All the right colours in all the right places, yet it ultimately didn't result in a masterpiece.
Hi there this was a great era from brooksode I was just wondering if you have any more of these episodes including the jordache family? it was a great storyline
Have you got some more of brookside I would loved to watch them there are all brilliant I wonder if you have got some like the drug dealers around the close holding hostage may be some when Leanne spies the acid in Jacqui s eyes. Margi attacked Susannah when she found out about her and Greg. Sue and Danny been pushed to their death when Barry Grant pushed them. And also plus when Jenny been pushed from the stars case. Jackie C and Shelley cat fight that’s would be great if you have got them mine cheers
I know we always look back and remember the 'good old days' but the scriptwriting and wooden acting, explaining the situation for the camera is now so embarrassingly dated. Top marks to the actresses for pulling it off, as we know, they've gone on to achieve bigger and brighter things; this however makes Neighbours seem almost dynamic. *I absolutely loved Brookside as an early teenage
They always do it - these type of people. Did you see what happened on Star Trek? A minor character on voyager for 3-4 seasons back in 2001 was brought back for 1 episode in the new (inclusive!) STP series and had his eyeball ripped out and was torture to death. Why? Because the guy in real life put out a tweet that the lefties didn't agree with. So it is nothing new. These type of people have always been around. Big cry babbies!
Just subscribed steve and thankyou for the download
Absolutely so miss brookside it was the best with natural actors
Becky 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 xxxxxxxxx
Her scream was totally gut wrenching absolutely heartbreaking.
Sandra Maitland did an epic job of concluding a legendary story.
Still striking in 2024..

Very few characters departed happy. The one that comes to mind was Eddie Banks! A happy ending :-)

Did Anna suddenly quit resulting in the rushed nature of Beth's death?
Still miss Brookside
Yes she went on to do better things, namely films and stuff.
Poor Mandy.😢😢😢😢😢

Anything I have I will be publishing - so keep an eye out, because there's more Beth to come.
It was so cruel of Phil Redmond and Mal Young to kill off Beth. It sent out a very awful message that sex abuse victims can’t overcome their trauma.
Anna Friel abruptly quit, what else were they supposed to do?
@@BCJ1985 Beth was in prison, why kill her?
@@DeepScreenAnalysis Well duh, the conclusion of the storyline was supposed to be their release.
@@BCJ1985have the characters discuss her case and say she got sent down for 20 years or whatever the sentence was at the time.
@@jacobmassey3897 Whilst Mandy (the one who actually stabbed Trevor) walks free? Yeah, makes total sense.
