In this video I show you how to make a device that can pick up liquids and gels. It works great for picking up and setting down sauces without changing their shape.

You can't IMAGINE how many times I've needed to move my sauce! This is a LIFE SAVER.
I know right!
😄😜
@@YamoYamo. I just gotta make one of these and bring it on a date.
@@christopherwellman2364 I feel you . I might do the same
It is definitely a "lifesaver" if you have spilt epoxy resin and want to remove it without smearing it.
It can then be reapplied where it is needed.
I am very grateful for this video and will build a miniature version of this device!
Finally I can clean up spills without them losing their beautiful splat shape!
Exactly
Artisticcccc!!!❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜💘
And sell it as art for thousands of dollars
@rabinrai7509 Aha the real problem with the world... people buying things so the money can circulate throughout the economy 👍
They're like snowflakes, each one beautifully unique
I think this device makes use of the no-slip condition -- the fact that a fluid maintains zero velocity relative to a solid surface. That's why it works for true fluids but not for solid particles.
Is this like when I have a glass of water with ice or a piece of fruit in and I twist the glass everything will stay in the same place?
It acutally should work best with non-newtonian fluids called bingham fluids that need a certain shear force to behave like fluids. This means they have a bigger zone with non-slip condition. Ketchup is one of those bingham fluids. :)
@@IRmortalwombatNo that’s nothing but slip, or frictionless. Relative to the solid (the cup or container) it moves at the same speed as the solid, just in the opposite direction. It just doesn’t move relative to anything else.
I don't think it works with water, or juice
@@rustygear447 Because of the very low viscosity of these fluids.
picking up paints feels like a potential use for this. If a painter wants to save their paints by placing them in a sealable container or something from their palette this might be useful
Yeah. Trying to pick up paints that are side by side with a palette knife can end up smooshing them together. Good idea.
I wonder how well it could pick up small paint accidents like say while painting a wall.
@@mk_rexxI think it would work if you had an extremely thin edge and a material that would withstand moving over such a thin edge while also maintaining a very sharp bend angle. Would be very difficult to make and I bet the results would be less than ideal.
Big problem is that paints on a palette usually dries a bit as the painter works and forms a crust. This unfortunately won't be practical.
how did you come up with that 🤣
kamikoto knives are poor in quality they use low quality steel compared to its price, and the only thing in common with japan they have its that japan is close to china :) in short its a scam or at least they use dishonest marketing hence scam
Same company who owns another scam, "Established Titles".
@xchan5944 ooooh forgot about this beauty :-p thanks for a reminder :-))))
Such a shame that Kamikoto has never been made by a Japanese knives maker nor has any history as such (many quoted as a Chinese company in expert groups). I highly doubt you can name any Michelin star chef or any pro chef using Kamikoto or endorsing it. I couldn't find any trace. I am open to find out I am wrong - if you can provide their name and endorsement of the product. Damaging to the Japanese knives reputation. "Machine made knives from 2nd grade steel". But surely they have heavily invested in PR on RUclips. Your video was amazing as usual thou.
There have been a few youtube videos debunking Kamikoto.
It's all a sham
They also use like bottom of the barrel level steel. Marketing worked so well for them for some reason
Their "5 - 6X markup" graph, with that huge "direct-to-consumer savings" bar looked like BS to me.
He doesn't vet his sponsors. He also promoted Established Titles for some time too. 🙄
Dude is just trying to get paid for the work he puts in his videos. For sure, creators should be mindful of their sponsors and do their best not to advertise in a misleading way. At the same time, we all know it's an ad and should treat it with the same skepticism we would with any other.
"Caveat Emptor" (let the buyer beware)
The pizza paddle mentioned at the very end is called the "Super Peel" and I actually just got one a few weeks back. I kept ruining pizzas trying to transfer them to my pizza stone, but this principle totally solves that! I'd highly recommend it to anyone else with a similar struggle.
I finally just gave up on peels and use a perforated aluminum pan for all my pizzas. The pizzas come out great, and it's so much easier.
You should try to lay out all of the toppings for a hotdog/burger and then try to pick it up and place it on the food 😂
Cooking gadget!
Picnic magic show.... LoL
I've been watching this guy for YEARS and i still can't get over his voice.
Please tell me I'm not the only weid one
Edit: BTW Kamikoto is BS
I work in a kitchen where we sometimes do some pretty intricate stuff. This concept might come in handy one day!
Side note: A metal plaque (brand name/ser. no.) fell off of a warmer we use in concessions about 18 months ago. I couldn't find any glue, so I used a fine layer of ketchup to re-stick it. The continuous heat basically vulcanized it into glue and that thing is STUCK FOREVER.
This could definently be used for higher end restaurants/catering. Piping out 50 designs on a table and quickly transfering them to plates could save alot of time and energy.
THANK YOU!!!! I've been looking for a tutorial on moving sauce for days, and this is the only one that actually works.
I can't believe I hear about this Switl device again. I found it years ago and I always wondered how it works. Never thought I'd see anyone cover it on RUclips. Thank you!
There are definitely some applications I can think about! I once attempted making “mashed potato pizza” but could not get it to hold in good position. I ended up layering it on the baking sheet even though the cutting board was more convenient to use.
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist1 I know this is obvious a bot (maybe even just a nutjob) but this feels like it's shaming the mashed potato pizza
may God have mercy on your soul
I just had mashed potatoes on a pizza for the first time last week (though I’m not even someone who has much issue with textures usually) and it was revolting…like the worst texture combo I can imagine…🤢🤢
@@charliezard64i think it was the bass
@@swored. what
We used those same sheets of teflon in the bun toaster at the Sonic Drive-In I worked at 20 years ago. We also drew things on the grill with the ketchup bottles. And threw cups of ice in the fryers to startle the new guys. Fred broke a light one time spinning a broom handle like Donatello. A lot of shenanigans took place at that store. No security cameras back then.
Even if not very practical, it's incredible to find out how to do things otherwise thought impossible.
So early, it feels illegal
😂😂😂
Go to sleep
Wtf dude, are you a time traveller or what?
Thanks. I was desperately looking to see if I could pick up my ketchup and set it down in a shape of a tomato as it meant the world to me. I need this and thank you.
This would be great for some cake decorating purposes. Neat!
As a professional culinary accident forensic specialist this will be a game changer for my profession!
….Especially valuable for those of us that specialize specifically in condiments and thinly cut fruits that are often miss categorized as vegetables
i saw the original product video years ago, i never imagined it was something so simple to recreate!
Kamikoto knive's are made in china and sell at a premium as if they were made in japan
Thats why i had to thumbs down. Great content but ruined by the misleading advertising to mislead viewers into thinking some mass produced knife from china is the same thing as Japanese handforged.
Aren't they owned by the same company that owned 'Established Titles'. Anything that is named so obvious to a specific country famous for the best 'specific tool' (German sounding name for petrol tools for example), you know there is a high chance it's Chinese made. Here in oz there is a garden tool company that gets their stuff made in China but they sounded extraordinarily European.
@@kingcosworth2643It's also the same company as Deal Dash
If Chinese ppl can make this quality things, then i gotto say, they are doing amazing.
The problem is actual nice Japanese knives are now several times more expensive than this, so the Chinese have just moved in to fill the niche. Everything is so expensive nowadays.
I've seen videos of that tool years ago, finally I can see how it's made now
I saw the switl video. I was amazed. Thanks Action Lab!!!
Glad u mentioned the Pizza at the very end. As a home pizza maker a larger scale version of this device has been sitting in my diy todo list since a while: that's why i clicked this video of yours. Great content as usual! 🙂
As always..... Great videos..., great content ! Please continue doing it
So keen to try this on my fabric couch!
The science behind it is fascinating! 😊
Why is this so fascinating? I'm baffled with how simple it is
You sir- are always creating some of the best vids ever
I believe this is already used in many industrial applications. Love all your videos❤
Yo, simple yet sick! This is brilliant.
this is exactly what i needed today
Wow, that's an even better *quicker picker upper* than Bounty itself! 👍👍
This breaks my brain to watch, I love it!
You gave me a really great idea I think I'm going to try to use it with art and see what I can do with it 😊
I had this idea as a kid, but (as usual) didn’t want to waste any money or materials. I’m glad I know exactly how to do it, now.
Thanks 😃
It would probably work better if you had a fairly sharp edge on the front but a roller on the back. You would have to play with how sharp it can be and still work.
I had a sharp edge at first but it cuts the belt after a few uses. I think that it needs a sharp edge with a belt that can’t be cut easily by the board material.
@@TheActionLab What about having the edge only sharp in the middle, but thicker and rounded towards the outsides? That way, the stress would just be on the rounded part.
Yes, the roller needs to be able to move it while keeping tension on and reversing the direction of the belt, at the same feed rate.
@@TheActionLab Maybe something like correction tape?
@@renedekker9806 The differing radius along the edge that the transitioning edge creates would cause issues with the material, either causing the material to not contact the body of the board in the middle or just issues with tracking or creasing.
That was really interesting, great way to clean messes!!!
Easily the most mind blowing thing ive seen this week. Cool as!
Sending this video to mh wife who's a pastry chef. She does a lot of writing with sauce or chocolate and this could be useful to first write or make the figure on the sheet until you got it perfect, then transfer the figure to the plate.
This is one of if not the most amazing channel on RUclips
Thank you very much!
I can now easily clean my sauce....
this channel just proves that i really have no idea what i really want to watch and anything that id dismiss out of hand and say id never watch is the first thing i click when recommended... the algorithm is getting too powerful!
Wow, that's crazy! A few months ago I was making pizza with my family and we accidentally made one of the pizzas on the counter instead of putting it on parchment paper like we usually do. so I took the parchment paper and the edge of a cutting board, and I made this same device, and used it to pick up the pizza, without ever learning about it beforehand! its so cool to find out that other people have used it for the same purpose :D
That is mental! Love it!
I think from what i have seen is that Kamikoto Knives are a little bit of scam in a sense, they use cheap steel that doesnt last very well, you would need to do some research on your own if that is the case, and if you want to promote them.
I’ve owned their knives for almost a year and use them daily and they are my favorite knives. Is that enough research? 😂
Huge scam out of Hong Kong.
Your knives may be high quality but please look into the people involved with their company. If I remember correctly its the same people behind that Scottish titles scam.@@TheActionLab
@@TheActionLabMade in China. Same company who owns Established Title.
He is not a knife expert. How is he supposed to know that they are made out of crap steel.
It's the rolling edge. I mix glue using that concept with a 1/8 inch wooden dowel on a flat surface. The point is to mix all of the glue and maintain a small mixing area. Rolling the dowel flat toward the center of the glue cleans the glue up, rolls it toward the center, and mixes it at the same time.
FINALLY an explanation to the lifelong mystery of how to move sauce!
these are astonishing results in sauce-pattern conservation!
Kamikoto is a known scam
Scamikoto Knives/Established Titles. Made in China.
Technically not false advertising because if the steel bars are made in Japan his claim of ‘Japanese steel using 800 years of Japanese technology’ never states it is made anywhere specific. But yeah, overpriced stainless steel kitchen knife set
Yeah, horrible lapse of judgement on Action Lab's part.
@@Pikawarpsthe false advertising is when they say it is such a high quality steel. it is 420J2, it is a very corrosive resistant steel, but it is also one of the SOFTEST steels. i.e. it cannot hold an edge for more than a couple of cuts. that is why they sell them with sharpening stones and recommend using them after every use of the knife.
One of the best RUclips channel
Great! This will allow me to put ketchup onto a flat smooth surface then carefully transfer it over to the hamburger prior to putting the top bun on. This will save so much time vs applying directly to the hamburger! Thanks!
This is perfect for when I need to pick up and set down sauce without changing its shape
This was interesting Thanks for sharing it
This video has hilarious “infomercial” vibes, love it!
I needed this for my melt in the middle hot pud yesterday
thank you! i needed to transport sauce to pay a bribe, you are a life saver!
I heard of that Device to and i thought you were going to review it, i was surprised its that simple
thats nuts, its so cool!
Mind Blown 💥
This was the cleanest ad segue in any video
congrats. your video is a shoe-in for those "oddly satisfying" compilations.
Oh yes, just what I needed. I always hate when wiping spilled sauce ruins the random shape it made on my counter. : )
That is incredibly useful
this would be super useful for picking up paint
Now I can move this sauce. Thank you.
Bro sneaked that ad on me... When I realized it was an ad it was too late to skip... Smooth.
As a pizza boy all the times I found the pizza ingredients loosen up inside the pizza box (it definitely doesn't have anything to do with my driving style lol) this gadget would have definitely come in handy 😂
One of my worst fears ordering delivery is thinking of the delivery guy opening the box.
@@MikeyDavis Well luckily I'm very igiene obsessed myself on the blink of OCD so I've never touched a pizza and delivered it upside down LOL to then run away asap with my scooter 😂 luckily no client ever complained 😅
Chefs are going to love this!
This is the same concept as an oven peel I have to move dough into a hot oven. It’s really cool!
I thought that the Kamikoto brand was made in China? It says so on their webpage, it says: "Each Kamikoto knife is carefully crafted with high quality steel from Honshu 本州, Japan. Fully versed in traditional blade-making practices, Kamikoto's blades are handmade by a select group of experienced craftsmen in Yanjiang, China."
Kamikoto is total BS. Shadyversity and others made videos on the steel quality and its origin.
I remember seeing an electric version of this on facebook or myspace years ago, was pretty neat
That's amazing 🤩
Its a fun device. never seen it b4. nice
This is so useful
Finally I can pick up my neighbors dog poop from my sidewalk and gently relocate it near his door
I remember seeing a small handheld automated device like this 10+ years ago. Very cool but limited application.
"Limited application" seems to be quite the understatement, but perhaps I'm seriously lacking in creativity. I remember this device as well, and as I recall they mainly used it to move condiments around. Do you recall any of the other applications, especially any that might have actually been useful?
@@vincentwu2848 As it stands, no. I was hoping he would mention some new applications in the video. I imagine it will have future use in robotics/automation eventually though.
@acct5910 Ooh I think I recall now that they demonstrated picking up other items too, but demonstrating on the sauces was to illustrate how the technology could be applied to move/transfer even the most seemingly unstable items
Unecessary Inventions vibes ❤😂😂 love it
cool and interesting. Not something I will personally use but still kind of neat.
Very useful information
It doesnt matter how lame the titles of your videos make it seem like its going to be they always end up being awesome and worth watching. Thats why I always watch them no matter how much I dont want to.
🤓
This is so good, someone legit made an actual product out of it💀
I think its called “slidy roll”
and ofc they advertise on yt shorts
This so slick 🎉
Nicely done
Wow this blew my mind
oh man, of all the sponsors you could have gotten and it turns out to be kamikoto
This is great for those times you want to show the secret face or words in your sauce, also able to place it back means you can assemble cakes aand other designs/patterns on a separate area then when ready place them, just pick em up and hen place back.
Really cool idea, next video needs to be you on dragon's den or shark tank lol
Idea for dry stuff, try a pattern of grooves or something the dry stuff can get grabbed by or fall into maybe?
Surprisingly awesome haha
This looks so cool 😆
This is insanely clever
I like it when the title exactly describes the video
Amazing. It looks like you were printing it
This will free up hours of my weeks sauce times.
This is crazy🤯
Ok this is really cool
That’s oddly satisfying 😂
This is so cool! 😆
Perfect video.
Nice, I def need this lol. As for the pizza though... "deforming" it is kind of like the point when you pull it on the pizza peel, you're stretching it out even more with all the weight on top.
This is great, I’ve had a sour cream and ketchup spill on my living room floor for years that I can now finally pick up and move to the closet.
