Remember: better help sells your information
Interesting, thanks !
really?
@@Minidr yep, they also for a long time didnt even always have proper psychologists, it was a massive issue a few years back, seems like they are trying to find their way back into the good graces of everyone they fucked over
Who cares?

Remember Betterhelp sells your health data.
betterhelp has a history of shady dealings. you shouldn't take sponsorships from them
2:15
i feel like THIS is how they get that “instant freezing” effect in movies n stuff without actually harming anyone
i thought the same thing.
better help is a scam
Worse help?
Definitely WorseHelp.
They often lack the resource, experience and expertise to handle anything like an actual disorder, they also cannot diagnose or prescribe medication, they cannot give referrals for specialists either.
That means you're basically just talking to a counselor that the government can probably provide to you for free, who is local and knows what's available to you.
At most they can combat loneliness and mild grief, or similar.
And even so, there's been so many horror stories from clients and therapists alike, that it vastly outweighs the good.
Please seek a referral from a doctor instead. They do NOT have your best interest in mind.
Yeah. Awful stuff.
Sooo scammy
Maybe
the alchohol chalk would be a great practical effect for a movie where someone gets frozen or frostbitten
or turned to stone by the medusa.
There is a similar magic trick effect called “Absolute Zero”!
"all work and no play..."
i’ve seen liquid chalk and it works like that
yup exactly, very common sight if you been around climbers
Instead of spraying liquid everywhere you could have put the block on top and then turned both over together
fr he pisses me off sometimes
This is the Action Lab version of those fake game ads with terrible play😂
The ferrofluid all over the place...
You'd think he would have learned after the first one 😂
Yea, can’t watch the video because of that lol
didn't think I'd learn how to make instant pickles today. Thanks!
He has a full video on the topic also.
@@mike1024. I just flabbergasted a pickle
I know, right? Yet another reason to buy a vacuum chamber.
@@CinJyxxe everyone should carry a vacuum chamber with them, you cant know when and how needed it but you will need it
Lol right. So cool
Would be interesting if the vacuum test also had blue water to see the difference in the inside structure of the two.
5:26 I would have liked to see what their weight was on a scale for comparison. That should give a good indication of how much water was absorbed in each. Great video!
Add a dye to the water maybe
@@FelipeChhe means he wants a tangible number that can be recorded, not just a means to observe. If you weigh it before and after, you get a concrete number that tells you exactly how much of a substance the material can hold
Or do both.
that block is me when i wake up in the middle of the for some water fr 💀
Middle of what???
@@solobiker18middle of "the" duh

Too thirsty to complete the sentence 😂
@@AleRic_03right around the "h", I reckon.
When covid was more prevalent, climbing gyms that I went to only allowed people to use liquid chalk. I'm guessing the idea is that it's pretty much hand sanitizer. Some gym only allowed liquid chalk as well as it makes less mess than the powdered stuff.
Interesting!
Isn't liquid chalk just regular chalk mixed with alcohol?
@@-TK- ...yes...as shown in the video we just watched
It should be safer to use as there would be way less getting in the air to breath too.
@@nvcnc i just watched the first minute and went to read the comments lol.
Concise and to the point, and you don't talk down to your audience like a lot of these channels do. Always liked your presentation and tone.
That's basically a real life Minecraft sponge 😮. It would be interesting to see anti-flammable objects made using it.
Have you ever heard of aerogel?
It's similar.
@@MadDragon75 yeah it is but I think aerogel is not made up of magnesium carbonate. Also it is hydrophobic....
It also dissolves in water
A sponge is a real life minecraft sponge
MgCO3 is fully oxidized, how do you expect it to be flammable?
2:17 Did anyone else's hands suddenly feel uncomfortably dry while watching this? 😯
My hands were so dry after this video
I absolutely despise that feeling when you watch someone else's hands get so dry, it just rubs me the wrong way
As one who messes with portland cement (the grey part of concrete) every now and then it was making me think of that.
It is incredibly drying.
My hands felt super dry after watching this video
I don't know why he didn't just cover the bottle with the block and flip them both upside down, rather than trying to flip the bottle so quick lol
Yeah that was fucking annoying lol
He did He did With the first one
I think he stopped giving a damn after he failed the first time.
-also the pores probably stop the block from forming a seal on the bottle so it's pointless to try-
You should have used the blue color water for the vacuum test to see how fast the cube soke up the water
Introducing...
*The ShamWOW Brick!*
Colored water in a vacuum would be awesome to see, thank you for another great video
HONESTLY!
As a climber, this video is pretty cool. Honestly I thought making liquid chalk was slightly trickier
No episode of Action Lab is complete without the vaccum chamber.
LOL "Thirsty Brick" sounds like a name for a hole-in-the-wall bar 🍻
@1:02 is my daughter pouring herself a drink of anything.
Pressure treated wood is made the same way, by putting the wood in a low pressure tank and then admitting the treatment liquid and allowing air pressure to push it into the pores.
I like to watch bouldering sometimes and it is now very common to see them using liquid chalk. I wondered how that worked. Thanks.
Thank you for finding ways to make science interesting. Great job!
That shot of the liquid chalk drying looks so cool!
WE MUST HYDRADE THAT BLOCK
Noooo not better help
Probably doesn’t know any better
@@MsScarletwings I guess. Money is money

Wish I was a thirsty block
You're just a thirsty bloke
I've seen a few at the pub
Really cool!
I have used that a lot (mostly for deadlifts), but didn't know it can absorb THAT much water. Also the liquid stuff was interesting. I haven't tried that type, but interesting to know how that works as well
I would've colored the water in the vacuum pump as well, to make it more obvious how far it had penetrated into the material
Wouldn't be action lab without the vacuum chamber 😂
True😂
Thanks for another video! By the way, I tried the spaggetti thing from the previous video, so cool to see science in action with simple stuff.
2:27 your hand petrified
*canned laughter*
Very cool, it's like a magic trick! I actually have a job doing something similar to this with food, we use big vacuum chambers to lock flavors and other ingredients into the different foods we make!
"K now were gonna pull out the air" *accidentally sucks out the air from the room*
I went "It has to be a carbonate compound" and it is!!. All my CHEMISTRY classes didn't go to waste afterall
You really nailed the tipping filled bottles over. LOL.
2:34 Bro lost NNN another soldier fallen 😭
Tip with the liquid chalk: you can use this as an easy frost breath/freeze spell/icy blade effect for cosplays and such
You know it’s gonna be a great day if he drops another video about rocks 💀
Jesus Christ, they're minerals.
"Marie, they're minerals, not rocks"
Jesus Christ,it's Jason Bourne
i knew it would be gym chalk! i love watching asmr videos of people crushing the blocks, they make a lovely sound. so interesting to hear about the science behind it!

That's what I need for cold-drink coasters in the Texas summer.
Thanks! I've always wondered how climbing chalk works!

Yup. They apparently use unlicensed therapists and sell all your sensitive data that they collect.
Bro I can’t with those noises you added lmao
5:41 Wait, you totally buried the lead! Instant vacuum pickles! I’m sold.

“Instant pickles” 🙌🏼🤦🏼♂️😹😹😹
I’ve been seeing this in RUclips shorts lately it’s mesmerizing
Did you use the Ferro fluid chalk to hold the normal chalk in the vacuum chamber?
Bro just invented a new climbing meta with that hand trick
They have a type of asphalt and cement that water can drain thru so theirs no standing puddles so people don't have to drive or walk thru. Gallons of water within seconds just drains thru. That's the type of roads and sidewalks we need up here in the great PNW with all the fall & winter rain.
2:20 wow, this thing has a hell of a prank potential. For example, imagine me giving you a handshake with my hand covered in this😂
I was thinking this winter "look how cold it is" then stick my hand outside and it instantly "frosts over".
@@Skooozle yeah, good one too!
Nice good work keep the fun videos going ty
I actually thought that was the foam stuff they use for flowers for a second. Which is also quite good at holding water. ;)
i remember using this mechanic when eating goldfish, i would make a vacuum seal around the goldfish with my mouth, then let spit back in and the goldfish absorb it instantly
That’s how I feel when I use lotion. I just know it’s there.
Thanks for the video, sir.
Ah. So this is why my friend who rock climbs has the palms of sandpaper and leather.. and calluses lol.
Hold up, hold up, you can't just drop the line about the instant pickles and walk away like nothing happened!
Previous video. I think it was a short from Action Labs. Cool video, and I think less than two weeks ago.
Today, I learned how industrial pickles are made
I was just watching thirsty gym chalk videos yesterday!
Bro busted out the Burly™ paper towels
Can you completely permeate a piece of chalk with ferro fluid and use it for a transformer, coil, or motor core? Also, would permeating that chalk with ferro-fluid and aluminum powder make a bright and hot thermite? (Could you weld with it, with an oxygen flame pouring out a one-way valve?)
you just defined the difference of Adsorption and absorption ..excellent
The other time i was wondering what would happen if you tried to quantum lock multiple superconductors above the same big magnet - would superconductors move towards each other? Lock independently? Influence each other if one of them was wiggled around? Extend the reach of the magnetic field further away from the magnet as they repel it? I would really love to see more experiments with multiple superconductors in a bigger and more complex magnetic fields
Reminds me of my sharpening stone for my kitchen knives. Always more water you can douse it with
It really does get in!
Somehow, I got recommended a channel with dozens of these videos, and a few days later he does this.
liquid chalk is really nice for rock climbing, since it doesn’t cause a cloud of dust when you use it
"That is similar to how you can make instant pickles" is not something I expected to hear today
Swear it's like I'm getting the same recommendations as him, few days ago saw one short about spaghetti breaking, 2 days later he makes one. Saw that spaghetti shooting one, then he makes one. Saw a gym chalk vid like 3 days ago, he makes one. Not to mention the vsauce short.
thanks for the tip on how to quickly make pickles.
That was a good one.
thank u science daddy
Whoa!! I’m totally going to corner the local pickle market with this little trick.
Looks cool
I've always wondered what happens if you heat one side of a stick of chalk or some other water absorbing substance. If the whole thing wants to absorb water, but one side is hot and trying to evaporate, will the water wick from the cold to the hot side and evaporate, like a "diode for water"? If not, what about if you use a deliquescent?
Ok, I can't tell if this is either the best or worst tampon commercial I have ever seen. 🤣
Gripzilla lets get grippin
What if we used this somehow to help with energy storage solutions? How efficient could we pull water uphill with the help of thirsty materials and vacuums? Is there any chance we could make the system somewhat passive to use less energy vs. straight pumping the water directly?
wow so interesting. loved it
Thank you ❤
😊 It makes me smile, how many comments you got out of people, Just by intentionally spilling a little... Keep it up! Lol.
Whatever the question, Action Lab has the answer: *vacuum chamber!*
it wouldn't be an Action Lab video without a vacuum chamber 🤣
The capacity for sucking up oil makes me think this would be very useful in dealing with spillages
