- With Apple’s ARM MacBooks coming right around the corner, I thought, what better way to see if Big Sur works well with touch, than trying it out with touch! Lets investigate with Big Sur running on my XPS 15 9570 Hackintosh.

@@191. I've never bought anything from apple, except 1st iphone, that was may 1st and last apple product. Apple it's a company with great products and design, but too greedy. Same power at minor cost can be obtained buying other options, and I'm researching all I can, cause spending $3000 (my top budget) on a laptop its not an easy and it's a decision that should not be taken lightly, at least in my opinion

Is it stable enough for daily use ?
I still recommend you learn a thing or two on what goes on with the config.plist and all the things opencore does. It will really help you in troubleshooting if something goes. Using someone's EFI without knowing how it will leave you stranded one day the repo is no longer maintained
@@sadafatharkhan4154 hackintosh may normally work without much problems if you are just going for browsing stuff and all but if you just wanna experience such features linux is pretty good. If you get bored just change shit up. All things MAC OS does are pretty much doable and it’s a lot more stable.

@@drbali I think they're starting to do that nowadays - at least the MBP 16 is keeping me hopeful. That MacBook is the best MacBook they've put out since the 2012-2015 MBPr. Hopefully the ARM MacBooks usher in a new era of great laptop hardware from Apple again.

@@KevinShroff ARMBooks are a no go for me. Some people don't buy a Macintosh just to run OS X. They buy a Macintosh so that they can run OS X and Windows and Linux. If they switch from the Intel chips, there will be a loss of compatibility. Until Microsoft makes a good ARM64 Windows, there is no way that I will be switching to an ARM.

Ok. Now I’m thinking that Big Sur might be meant to bring the iPad to be on par with the Mac. One OS for Macs and iPads. Looks like Apple might be quickly approaching full convergence.
I just hope that this isn’t the case, especially with a look towards Microsoft and Windows 8, which failed. I think as Apple stands right now with the differentiation between the iPad, Mac and iPhone is good and I think they should keep it that way, even if the iPad and iPhone often function the same.
@@LukasHauf you fail to remember that Microsoft’s failure was because they did too much too fast. Apple’s IOS is not all that different from MacOS. They both have a similar look and feel, and they have for years. iPads are already being used as laptop replacements. Why not move them towards fully functional laptop replacements? And Apple’s separation of iPhoneOS and iPadOS allows them to move towards convergence with the iPad without making changes to the iPhone.

I don't think microsoft surface is a failure for using windows 10 in a tablet format. It's formidable!

Can you make a video showing how you can revert the hole process in case something goes wrong during the installation. Especially how to navigate the bois to boot into windows again

Also if not, just boot from a flash drive, wipe your drive and literally just install windows. As easy as that. Ofc you can do that with or without the bois 😂

I have VoodooPS2, RMI, and VoodooSMB to get my keyboard (PS2) and Synaptics trackpad/keys working. I add I2C and I2CHID and get an inheritance error with RMI and a duplicated CFBundleIdentifier for VoodooInput. Can you share any tips to get the touch screen going? I looked at your config.plist and ours are so different (OC 0.6.8 vanilla) that I can't sort it out. It shows up in IORegistryExplorer. Thanks again.

I understand what you're getting at - I really hope macOS doesn't turn into an awkward mess of conflicting UI design principles like Windows 10. Hopefully they can do it more gracefully than Microsoft

Yeah, I was surprised too when I recently learned that Intel cards are working pretty well under macOS now thanks to the devs, when a year or two ago we didn't have any WiFi functionality with them 😅
@@KevinShroff I was saving my Broadcom 94352Z, I guess that's not particularly useful. That said, native wifi does still have some advantages on laptops I would suppose, power management being one of them.
Yes, for sure. Performance wise, speed on the Intel cards is capped around 25mbps down 15 up for now. Also stuff like Apple watch unlock, sidecar will work/be better on native cards

Everything is just a transfer of trackpad gestures. Isn’t it easier to do those on... well, the trackpad?

Apple will "invent" touch screen computers in the next 3 years or so.
Technically they invented multi touch screen in 2007.
Let me introduce you to the iPad.
I know they came out with the iPhone in 2007 and the iPad in 2010 but those aren't what a typical person would consider a computer. I guess I should have said "touchscreen Mac computer" and spelled that joke out a little better for those who are slightly behind.

This is very exciting! Question: is this build able to use the nvidia gpu in the 9570, or is it going unused as a result of driver incompat? Just curious, as I know it shouldn't be tied to the display since it's a render only gpu, but it would be cool if you could still use it for...well rendering lol.
Unfortunately no NVIDIA support - even on real Macs NVIDIA support is being phased out, but even otherwise, no NVIDIA Optimus based Hackintosh laptop (i.e. Intel + NVIDIA dGPU) has dGPU support under macOS. You can still use an eGPU through thunderbolt, but yeah, the internal dGPU is useless and powered off under macOS.

Yes, but also because NVIDIA Optimius isn't supported at all on Hackintosh laptops under macOS

ive got Dell XPS 13 9360 i5-7200U FHD and can't decide between Hackintosh scenario : Clover or start right away with Opencore ? there are couple of guides on Clover for these maschines but can't find any OpenCore clear guides as opencore is way more involed - been doing tons of reading and watching videos... i am a music producer myself .. so this takes forever ;) any tips WHAT scenario and a clear guide to take would be appreciated. This undoubtedly looks cool, but I think if Apple were to do a touchscreen Mac they’d take a different approach with it - instead of trackpad like gestures (specifically for scrolling) they’d use something more familiar to an iPad or iPhone (1 finger scroll).
Yes, for sure. The two finger scroll on touchscreen only occurs because voodooi2c is essentially treating the touchscreen as one big trackpad
Intel 9260 wifi card, my Thinkpad x1c6 has that. Does that mean I can finally utilize it if I decide to make a hackintosh? That's one of the things putting me off from doing it. Also how did you use that kext that supports that card?
Hi Kevin, congrats on getting this to work. I have a Dell Precision 5540 with Touchscreen QHD screen.
Wanted to know whether you think it would be possible to get Hackintosh running on it? I think except the Quadro graphics, these machines are pretty much identical.

Glad you found the video helpful! Yes, you can definitely Hackintosh the Precision 5540. Try to find an EFI for the 5540, or failing that, use one for the XPS 15 7590 (not a typo) because that's the equivalent XPS to your Precision. Like you said, they are almost identical machines.
@@KevinShroff Thanks for the reply Kevin, did some research on a 5540 EFI and turns out that there can be some issues with the NVME storage I have, a Samsung PM981a 1TB unit. Did you have to swap out yours or did it come with a different one?
Mine came with a Toshiba XG5 so luckily no issues there for me

Is it worth running Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro on XPS Hackintos since nvidia doesn't work on it?
Yes, Final Cut Pro is excellently optimized and runs really well despite having no dGPU. I haven't tried Premiere with just iGPU under macOS though so can't comment on that

Yeah you can do that if you partition your drive and dual boot macOS & Windows

Yes, you can - if you connect a thunderbolt eGPU with a compatible AMD GPU you can use it under macOS just like with a real mac!

The only thing remains is the annoying pointer when u use touchscreen. And a big question will it be working with pens? Can illustrators and artists use dell or wacom pens for drawing as good as they do on windows?

I need help with my laptop keyboard and touchpad not working in Hackintosh I am using external solutions for now
