- The Princess of Wales has revealed in an emotional video message that she is being treated for cancer.
In a video filmed by BBC Studios earlier this week, Kate opened up about her recent absence from public life.
Kate explained that tests after her abdominal surgery in January had discovered the presence of cancer. The Princess of Wales was put on a preventative course of chemotherapy in February, which coincided with Prince William pulling out of a memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece.
Following online rumours and speculation about her health and whereabouts, Kate made a plea for space and privacy for her family at this difficult time.

My mother was the same age as Catherine when she was diagnosed with cancer, and I was George’s age. Please media, stop hounding Catherine and permit her and her family the same privacy you’d expect for yourself. The past few months have been endless speculation and gross intrusions. Wishing Catherine and the King both full recoveries.

Actually, everyone could have guessed it for themselves when Kate withdraws for weeks after an operation, that her health isn't going well and that she's faced with a serious diagnosis, so I don't understand these rumors and the hunt 😢 One can only hope and pray that Kate wins the battle against cancer and can recover well enough away from the public, not for her role as a princess but solely as a mother for her children and for her husband ❤🙏

This is so sad to hear. I wish Princess Kate a speedy recovery. My mother in law had ovarian cancer 20 years ago and she was successfully treated with surgery and chemo and still here although 87 now. Praying Kate will beat this and live until a ripe old age. Our family can relate to Catherine’s disclosure of cancer. My daughter found out she had breast cancer at the age of 42. Thankfully she is cancer free now and we are praying the same outcome for Catherine too.

I called her Catherine when I met her in London in 2020 when I was invited to the Holocaust ceremony in London by the Holocaust charities for my project work on Anne Frank being published back then and I was only 17 years old at the time. Little did Catherine know that I would become Queen of Wales 3 years later and she’s probably pleased for me. I will always vividly remember Thursday 8th September 2022

She became known as Kate to friends and family very early on. By the time she was introduced to the public all those years ago as Prince William's girlfriend she was known as 'Kate' and not 'Catherine'.

I don't need anyone to tell me to pray for anyone else who has cancer.
