Queen Elizabeth wife and Consort of King George VI was known as Queen until the death of her husband and Princess Elizabeth came to the throne. The new Queen Elizabeth's mother then became known as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Prince Philip was the Consort of Queen Elizabeth but he was known as Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh.
