Dualex should try converting a shipping container into a tiny house or just built from the bottom up with all the knowledge that he has obtained through all his builds. Really hoping to see a tiny house build in the next bazillion year into the future. :D
Hey if you haven't already done it you should put some tape or a rubber washer in your drill holes so it doesn't saw through the wire from the vibration while you drive. Great tutorial.
Only noticed one thing missing. Vans flex a lot while driving, to avoid wear on the wires install a rubber grommet on drilled holes and then pass the wire through.
Cool idea... I would just make a few changes.. Move the side cameras to the side mirrors (just because that is usually where blind spot cameras are). Id also add a old laptop or a raspberry pi running Frigate NVR and a Google Coral TPU.. Frigate will record all your video streams or only when it sees motion. It can also be set up for alerts and if you really want to get into it face detection of common people.. One cool feature is you can set up zones and tell it to look for specific things like people or cars. All local and self contained. Id do two modes a drive mode that pings you when someone is along side you and a night mode that looks for motion by the van and alerts you. Im curious how the nigh vision is on the cameras?
Pretty cool. I didn't see you use any rubber grommets or sillycone when you were passing wires through drilled holes in sheet metal. I've had some stereo installs that needed to be redone (well, just recabled) when sheet metal wore through the wire insulation where the cables passed through. It takes awhile, but vibration can do this bit by bit and you don't notice until signal gets bad. You can wrap the ID of your holes with foam rubber or neoprene (I cut up tiny strips from an old mousepad one time.). Anyhow, this was neat to see and I like your approach to power - keepin' it simple. Nice work and thanks for sharing it!
So I'm guilty of taking the filming aspect for granted. Your content is so awe inspiring, I completely disregard the filming, editing and final product. Wow man, you are a regular Jack of all trades, but you seem to master them all as well!!
Dualex! You are literally a Godsend. I been waiting to do a conversion on the ford transit connect and you are making videos on everything I wanted to do. I love how straight forward and details your videos are.
thanks for this information . love your video's, all very well made . . and am glad you don't have over powering blaring music in the back ground as you are talking . keep up the good work ! what you show helps and inspires many people.
Great video my friend! I'm a bit of a security camera nerd around my house. I even have a LTE dashcam that is accessible on my phone, the trouble is that it only shows the front. It's only natural that I wanted to view more angles when "car camping" and this is EXACTLY what my plan was on using. Thanks for the post!
15Amp fuses? I'd be shocked if the whole system used half of that. Plus your wiring is not capable of anywhere near that and so should something bad happen you will NOT blow the fuse before the wires catch fire. Try replacing those blue fuses with 1Amp black ones (the color dictates the rating). Otherwise, well done. Amazing job.
I installed security cameras on my van two months ago and at first was looking into the old school way like you did it. At the end I end up with a more modern setup, with two ip spycams. Since I already have a non stop internet in the van for my work it just made more sense to have those because I can see what's happening around the van when I leave it perked. Other benefit of the ip cams is recording in the cloud and motion detection alarms. Knowing that I get message if anyone starts messing with the van and I can then see what is going on right away makes me feel a lot more safer when my leave my micro house.
Hey brother, might wana invest in something called Heat Shrink Tubing for your AV connections. Electric tape will get the job done, but HST will last a lot longer and has zero chance of slipping off as it moulds to the shape of what it's covering.
This vid is interesting and educational again you nailed it Duel Ex. I always feel that again your deep insight on practical projects are wonderful gifts of your skills and knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
YES!! DUDE I WAS RACKING MY BRAIN THINKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND YOU WENT AND DID THIS!! I was thinking of something quite similar but I wasn't sure how to execute it. Oh DAMN thanks dude for uploading, this is so helpful!
I'm glad I ran across this video. For several months I have been looking at camera systems to add to my van. I don't really care for most of the available options. Like you commented, most of them were bulky and were better suited for home use than on a van. Definitely not stealthy. This looks like it might work. Thanks for the tip!
I m very proud this what you made in the first history, I never think about it this one. I want to thank you for sharing this for our country's safety!
I always watch your videos as soon as they come out. I really enjoy them and find them entertaining and informative. I have no desire to do a conversion but I am impressed with all you do and have done. Thanks
Sooo , Where is the Electrical " Follow Up" Video ...? Also, I did Not See the Dual ( Male ) ends- connector for the Yellow camera Plug Wires.... Listed anywhere, but I'm Sure I can Track them Down... On Amazon.... People are Mentioning that the Side / White Cameras Show ( upside Down) on the Monitor...? What's the Resolve on That..? I Love the Whole Set up, But Probably Would Not be able to Purchase the Bluetti Power Box, I would Just Hook it up to an Auxillary Battery Bank. Stealth Van Safety is Priority One... With all of these Doped up, Desperate Crazies, Lurking Around , Trying to Burglarize Parked Vehicles, at all Hours of the Night... I feel an Emergency Switch to Light Up 4- Sides of the Van, would Help Immensely, also - a Panic Alarm or Loud Horn Sounding Off... Could Send the Intruder Running Away...!! BillinL.A. 10/15/22.
Man I been watching you for a long time and to see the depth of how you keep growing and expanding new ideas on builds is mind blowing!! I own a construction company and just bought my first box truck all I know is when I retire the box truck Imma make a Wild build out of it! Definitely going to be looking back at your old builds during that process! Very motivating man!!! Thanks for the content 🙏🏼🙌🏼
You have some of the most helpful videos out here. I'm always excited to see what you're up to even though I don't comment very often. I know when you're finished with your van it's going to be not only functional but it'll be beautiful! Can't wait! 🤗
You are so impressive, there is nothing you can't do !! We sit here in Ottawa Canada watching your accomplishments and can't help but be amazed at your unique talents to tackle jobs most people could not do or think to do. Bravo.
Instead of a 4 channel monitor, get a 4 or more channel security DVR. I have an 8 channel on my coach, and a standard HDMI monitor on my dash. Now all my cameras are being recorded all the time. Simple DVR's are fairly cheap now. Additionally if you have mobile internet available its easy to connect to the DVR then you have remote access to your cameras. A cordless mouse allows control of the system.
@@deanharris2240 No. I just used a generic computer monitor. Same with the dvr. The dvr runs on 12v so must made adapter. The monitor 19v so i used a small dc to sc up converter. The dcr is in rear closet. U found a hdmi and usb over cat5 adapters to run the monitor and mouse up on dash.
I did the exact same thing but my side cameras are even more stealth ☺️ I build my van 3 years ago and the cameras (also cheap ones) still work perfectly. I even have the exact same monitor 😄
I'm another one who would liek to know what cameras you used. And I"m sure that the 2 of us who commented ae not the only ones. Would you please kindly share that info?
Nice 👍. I have been planning to do this same setup for a while ever since I saw cyclecruza do it on his Chevy bugout van about 2 years ago. He’s been running the setup for years. He has all his cams fed into a large tv on a swing out mount in the back of the van. Maybe I’ll be able to tackle that project this summer finally.
Happy Easter Dualex! Thank you for your intuitive knowledge you share with us! I am now building my cargo trailer. I learn lots from you. Thank you XOX
I've just brought a similar 12v cctv set up but I'm not too worried about the look of the cameras. Well, I am a little, the red IR lighting gives it away a little at night. Sometimes overt is better than covert, especially if you are losing camera sensor quality. Great build though!
Outstanding!!! Short, sweet & straight to the point … best video on do it yourself security camera installation. Educational and informative!!! Excellent job. Be safe and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Buffalo, Texas. 🤠👨🌾✝️🙏🐩
I really enjoyed this video. I don't know anything about hooking up well, anything. You make me feel like I might be able to do a lil sum sum. Have a great weekend everybody.
This guy's voice quality is gold...no make that Platinum. I don't know what the does with his van, but he could make a fortune doing voiceovers for advertisements.
I have watched a lot of your builds, i'm impressed to say the least. It would be cool if you build a re movable 6x10 square drop (on a trailer) with a pop up top. That would be so cool.
I’m looking for a low cost way to do this but record all four cameras too. There are home systems that can be used but require AC current and down the rabbit hole I go. Ultimately, I want to be able to remotely access the cameras (live and recorded playback) with my phone. I’ve got most of it figured out except for the 12-volt based video recorder. A dashcam is not the same thing.
Most regular security cams and DVR run on 12v. They tend to use a 2.5mm x 5.5mm barrel plug. There's barrel plugs M/F to screw terminal adapters on Amazon etc. Or one can use a power injector adapters and cat 5e cables.
Hey, awesome video! Just wondering how you are actually recording footage with your security cameras. Are you loop recording onto an SD card using the 4way monitor or through your mirror? Thanks!
That's amazing. I am full time living in a Mercedes sprinter and I have recently set up a blink camera system for security but it's super annoying getting notifications when parked in the city. I would much rather have a full time cctv style setup that records constantly while I'm away and I can also monitor while inside like this. I definitely don't have the skills you have to install something like this tho. On e question I have is did you install a hard drive for recording? I don't think I caught that part of the video if you did.

Hey I need some help
Dualex should try converting a shipping container into a tiny house or just built from the bottom up with all the knowledge that he has obtained through all his builds. Really hoping to see a tiny house build in the next bazillion year into the future. :D
Hey if you haven't already done it you should put some tape or a rubber washer in your drill holes so it doesn't saw through the wire from the vibration while you drive. Great tutorial.
Good info. Thanx man. What was your total cost or cost breakdown?
Great video… bro I don’t see the smart mirror In the Amazon list… what brand is it?
I would like this system wireless for both blindspot vision plus security while inside a cargo trailer. Is that possible.
Excellent idea. I am wondering if there is a way to get this system working such that you could view the feeds from your phone
This is great advice (not just for the video poster but for us watching it!) I hadn’t heard this before. Thankyou!
Good advice. Paint any exposed metal after drilling, then place grommets to protect the cables.
Thanks!
This is great - I'm just starting a van build and was taken aback at all the bulky and obvious systems out there - yours is perfect - thanks so much!
Love waking up to see your vids man! i’m trying to get on your level of camper/van/rv renovations. your videos give me inspiration
You blended those in GR8T!😃
This video answered the question I wanted addressed (security cameras) for a stealth van. Thanks for the straightforward way you presented it.
thanks for this information . love your video's, all very well made . . and am glad you don't have over powering blaring music in the back ground as you are talking . keep up the good work ! what you show helps and inspires many people.
I try my best to mix the audio well during my edits. I think audio is more important than the visual quality
Ditto on the music. Many times on vids, the music is so grating I need to turn off the volume.
Perfect! Thank you so much! 😀
Don't forget to file or sand those holes so they don't chop up your wires.

Will you post the link to the cameras you used?
Great job I am doing the same for my camper build, I have to integrate a DVR as well.
What DVR did you go with? & is there a difference in image quality between the 2 cameras?
When is the wiring video on how to connect the fuse box coming? Awsome channel!
I'm waiting too
Thinkware F790 and MB100 will do the same thing, but a bit more refined.
Can also output to a monitor, and will obviously record etc. :)
That’s wonderful to see , you are educating people every day. I’m really learning and I’m a senior. Thank you
Great idea! I’m glad you did the video because I was wondering where you got the system from
Hey brother, might wana invest in something called Heat Shrink Tubing for your AV connections. Electric tape will get the job done, but HST will last a lot longer and has zero chance of slipping off as it moulds to the shape of what it's covering.

Add on on the rear now for a backup cam...on a truck that large visibility is good.
You inspire me. I wish I had your energy. I am an old man, but your videos make me want to do things again.
Excellent work, you impress me every time I check in on your videos! Keep up the great work.

Hey once again thank you for being so thorough and thoughtful
Thank you 💕

This vid was exactly what I was looking for. Been on my mind and this was the easiest solution.
I needed this stealth security system so bad😭 thanks
Man you deserve 1M+ subs. Great videos...very inspiring!
Happy Easter Dualex! Thank you for your intuitive knowledge you share with us! I am now building my cargo trailer. I learn lots from you. Thank you XOX
I always enjoy watching your videos especially this one on cameraa security.
Has anyone told you they loved you recently? Love and appreciate your work. Thanks for posting.🔥❤️
Appreciate the tutorial, also saw this set up with tiny side cams tucked into/behind the side mirrors (but no tutorial)
Hey boss I remember when I saw you on the first van build I knew you were going to grow the channel real good
I've just brought a similar 12v cctv set up but I'm not too worried about the look of the cameras. Well, I am a little, the red IR lighting gives it away a little at night. Sometimes overt is better than covert, especially if you are losing camera sensor quality. Great build though!
Man, you are SO legit. This is the content right here.
I love your work, you’re the best👍🏽♥️✌🏽smarter than the average guy✊🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Nice.
This little, old, disabled lady really enjoyed your presentation. Never show fear, & obvious cameras may imply fear to some people. Thank you
Very clever and creative man.
Shame you need a Cop Cam, but that is the reality.
Your video Intro were my exact thoughts , Glad to Found your video
This Is Awesome!🔥

I really enjoyed this video. I don't know anything about hooking up well, anything. You make me feel like I might be able to do a lil sum sum. Have a great weekend everybody.
love your channel, ill be looking into doing this in my van. some extra security is good
This guy's voice quality is gold...no make that Platinum. I don't know what the does with his van, but he could make a fortune doing voiceovers for advertisements.

Ahhh…this vid is GOLD! 🙌 Thank you! I’ll be replicating this on my own build. 👌
Best video by far I've seen
Very nice setup! Thanks for the links as well!
Hey, awesome video!
Just wondering how you are actually recording footage with your security cameras. Are you loop recording onto an SD card using the 4way monitor or through your mirror?
Thanks!
Never stop learning my brother. Nice video
dual ex you"re fly as hell!!!! keep doing what you"re doing!!!!!
you should teach your students-get some people to train to build vans -an videos on that/like your work man/keep the videos coming/thanks much
You're a thinker! I really do enjoy watching your videos. 👍🏽
I’m so glad you made this with links.
I have learned so much watching your videos!!
Interesting. Kept me riveted. Wondering what The cost for such a setup would be?
I’m glad I found your videos so informative and you got skills hands down
Solid camera, great mount,
How you come up with all these ideas is impressive! I really enjoy your expertise and knowledge. Nice!
You are one sharp brother! Keep up the good work!
That's amazing. I am full time living in a Mercedes sprinter and I have recently set up a blink camera system for security but it's super annoying getting notifications when parked in the city. I would much rather have a full time cctv style setup that records constantly while I'm away and I can also monitor while inside like this. your skills and ideas are very impressive and inspiring 👍, way cool dude 😎
I am goin*to follow this and add them to my van! Thanks 😮
so impressive!!! thank you for sharing;)
Just wanted to highlight what you said from the Skillshare sponsor segment, paraphrased, 'Building comes easy to me, I taught myself'. I just think this is super key to any future aspiring content creators. Document or share what you can already do or what comes easy to you, then diversify and expand your skillset with progression in all abilities. Thanks for inspiring us DualEx.
Now all you need is a camera that shows the driver, in case your vehicle is stolen. Like those cameras they use in bait car videos.
Hey bro enjoyed watching your work and I will do the same for my MotorHome.
Got one thing to comment on and that is please use your safety glasses or maybe one day you’ll be walking around looking like a pirate or maybe not looking at all!! Catch my drift? Keep up the good work
Regard’s and respect from the buckleman
Nice overview thanks for the info!
Dualex, you are a very intelligent young man. Love your videos 📹 .
Wow! I'd have to have you put it in🌟 It's too much for me.
Happy Easter🐰
PS... I'm patiently waiting for GUTTED
You have such skills…I wish I had just an ninth of your abilities. Love the videos
This is awesome!!!! I've been thinkn of ways to do this and you just figured it out for me. Lol.
This is so freaking smart I love it
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos for a while you’re definitely a handsome young man
You're videos are amazing! Definitely a new Sub
Well done young man! And thanks
