Dualex should try converting a shipping container into a tiny house or just built from the bottom up with all the knowledge that he has obtained through all his builds. Really hoping to see a tiny house build in the next bazillion year into the future. :D
Hey if you haven't already done it you should put some tape or a rubber washer in your drill holes so it doesn't saw through the wire from the vibration while you drive. Great tutorial.
15Amp fuses? I'd be shocked if the whole system used half of that. Plus your wiring is not capable of anywhere near that and so should something bad happen you will NOT blow the fuse before the wires catch fire. Try replacing those blue fuses with 1Amp black ones (the color dictates the rating). Otherwise, well done. Amazing job.
Only noticed one thing missing. Vans flex a lot while driving, to avoid wear on the wires install a rubber grommet on drilled holes and then pass the wire through.
Cool idea... I would just make a few changes.. Move the side cameras to the side mirrors (just because that is usually where blind spot cameras are). Id also add a old laptop or a raspberry pi running Frigate NVR and a Google Coral TPU.. Frigate will record all your video streams or only when it sees motion. It can also be set up for alerts and if you really want to get into it face detection of common people.. One cool feature is you can set up zones and tell it to look for specific things like people or cars. All local and self contained. Id do two modes a drive mode that pings you when someone is along side you and a night mode that looks for motion by the van and alerts you. Im curious how the nigh vision is on the cameras?
hi ik this comment is a bit older but after watching the video i was wondering if there was a way to record video from the cameras and then i see your comment! would you happen to know any useful tutorials that would teach an absolute beginner how to set up a raspberry pi?
Pretty cool. I didn't see you use any rubber grommets or sillycone when you were passing wires through drilled holes in sheet metal. I've had some stereo installs that needed to be redone (well, just recabled) when sheet metal wore through the wire insulation where the cables passed through. It takes awhile, but vibration can do this bit by bit and you don't notice until signal gets bad. You can wrap the ID of your holes with foam rubber or neoprene (I cut up tiny strips from an old mousepad one time.). Anyhow, this was neat to see and I like your approach to power - keepin' it simple. Nice work and thanks for sharing it!
I've been looking at those white cameras (PERFECT for a streamlined look) for my 92 G2500 Vandura hightop, security is next on my bucket list. However, the monitor you used does not have DVR functionality and it is difficult to find one that records and is compatible with those cameras. Any suggestions?
So I'm guilty of taking the filming aspect for granted. Your content is so awe inspiring, I completely disregard the filming, editing and final product. Wow man, you are a regular Jack of all trades, but you seem to master them all as well!!
Hey, awesome video! Just wondering how you are actually recording footage with your security cameras. Are you loop recording onto an SD card using the 4way monitor or through your mirror? Thanks!
Dualex! You are literally a Godsend. I been waiting to do a conversion on the ford transit connect and you are making videos on everything I wanted to do. I love how straight forward and details your videos are.
Great job. Elon Musk just opened a $1.1 billion dollar Tesla factory in Austin, Texas by the airport. They can use great smart innovated minded people and pay a tremendous salary
This vid is interesting and educational again you nailed it Duel Ex. I always feel that again your deep insight on practical projects are wonderful gifts of your skills and knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
I don't see a link to the smart mirror. Can you provide one, or tell me who makes it? I see the list of products, but the smart mirror isn't among them. I've had several but I like the one you used.
You are so impressive, there is nothing you can't do !! We sit here in Ottawa Canada watching your accomplishments and can't help but be amazed at your unique talents to tackle jobs most people could not do or think to do. Bravo.
Great video my friend! I'm a bit of a security camera nerd around my house. I even have a LTE dashcam that is accessible on my phone, the trouble is that it only shows the front. It's only natural that I wanted to view more angles when "car camping" and this is EXACTLY what my plan was on using. Thanks for the post!
Hey brother, might wana invest in something called Heat Shrink Tubing for your AV connections. Electric tape will get the job done, but HST will last a lot longer and has zero chance of slipping off as it moulds to the shape of what it's covering.
thanks for this information . love your video's, all very well made . . and am glad you don't have over powering blaring music in the back ground as you are talking . keep up the good work ! what you show helps and inspires many people.
Hey bro enjoyed watching your work and I will do the same for my MotorHome. Got one thing to comment on and that is please use your safety glasses or maybe one day you’ll be walking around looking like a pirate or maybe not looking at all!! Catch my drift? Keep up the good work Regard’s and respect from the buckleman
That's amazing. I am full time living in a Mercedes sprinter and I have recently set up a blink camera system for security but it's super annoying getting notifications when parked in the city. I would much rather have a full time cctv style setup that records constantly while I'm away and I can also monitor while inside like this. I definitely don't have the skills you have to install something like this tho. On e question I have is did you install a hard drive for recording? I don't think I caught that part of the video if you did.
I’m looking for a low cost way to do this but record all four cameras too. There are home systems that can be used but require AC current and down the rabbit hole I go. Ultimately, I want to be able to remotely access the cameras (live and recorded playback) with my phone. I’ve got most of it figured out except for the 12-volt based video recorder. A dashcam is not the same thing.
Most regular security cams and DVR run on 12v. They tend to use a 2.5mm x 5.5mm barrel plug. There's barrel plugs M/F to screw terminal adapters on Amazon etc. Or one can use a power injector adapters and cat 5e cables.
I've just brought a similar 12v cctv set up but I'm not too worried about the look of the cameras. Well, I am a little, the red IR lighting gives it away a little at night. Sometimes overt is better than covert, especially if you are losing camera sensor quality. Great build though!
if we can have opposite facing cams on the sides so you know who is approaching from front i will feel safer also if we can setup some kind of storage connected to cloud or something
He could by adding a network DVR and a Cell hotspot that stays with the vehicle or if parked near wifi but then a wifi router or repeater would be needed in addition to the DVR
Does anybody know how to do the same thing but with a tablet I have no need for a separate monitor screen situation my tablet has a big enough screen to put all 4 cameras on if need be but I'm hopeing there's an actual app that would let me scroll through the camera's Just by swiping the screen
YES!! DUDE I WAS RACKING MY BRAIN THINKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND YOU WENT AND DID THIS!! I was thinking of something quite similar but I wasn't sure how to execute it. Oh DAMN thanks dude for uploading, this is so helpful!
Why would you say $12 backup camera, but then only have $24 and $42 cameras on your amazon list? Ya, I can find a $12 backup camera on amazon, but it isn't the one you used. This kinda thing occurs with almost all of your vids. It is a small thing, but it is pretty frustrating.
I understand the frustration but most of the products I use fluctuate greatly in price. I don’t usually like to talk about the price of most things because by the time I put out a video, the prices are usually different from when I first bought the items. In this case I bought these cameras about 5 months before the video was released. These aren’t fixed price items like an iPhone.
Nice 👍. I have been planning to do this same setup for a while ever since I saw cyclecruza do it on his Chevy bugout van about 2 years ago. He’s been running the setup for years. He has all his cams fed into a large tv on a swing out mount in the back of the van. Maybe I’ll be able to tackle that project this summer finally.
Man I been watching you for a long time and to see the depth of how you keep growing and expanding new ideas on builds is mind blowing!! I own a construction company and just bought my first box truck all I know is when I retire the box truck Imma make a Wild build out of it! Definitely going to be looking back at your old builds during that process! Very motivating man!!! Thanks for the content 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Great thing with the cameras. I have thought about the same thing. I have seen 360 degree cameras and digital side view mirrors (if traditional side view mirrors taken off and cameras are put up instead the wind resistance is much lower) can these be used when the car is not in motion as to be security cameras for my sprinter van? So when i am inside parked and its evening i can switch on the screen and see if any intruder is lurking about.
I always watch your videos as soon as they come out. I really enjoy them and find them entertaining and informative. I have no desire to do a conversion but I am impressed with all you do and have done. Thanks
I did the exact same thing but my side cameras are even more stealth ☺️ I build my van 3 years ago and the cameras (also cheap ones) still work perfectly. I even have the exact same monitor 😄
I'm another one who would liek to know what cameras you used. And I"m sure that the 2 of us who commented ae not the only ones. Would you please kindly share that info?
Happy Easter Dualex! Thank you for your intuitive knowledge you share with us! I am now building my cargo trailer. I learn lots from you. Thank you XOX
I'm going to order the cameras and monitor, and install them on my solar camper van! Wired security cameras are the best for remote RV camping and if the grid goes down (EMP !). I also want to get a DVR (12 volt?) to record anyone sneaking around my van (Can motion sensing be added?)). And do you, or anyone know of any 12 volt DVRs? If not I could use my inverter to run a 120v a/c one.
Awesome video as always! This is a my wife and I are just at the point we are trying to figure out our camera situation and this looks like a great approach. Question: do these cameras have night vision?
Have you considered setting up a DVR Connection to the Cameras? In case there's any accident you have Video as evidence, because accidents do happen... I just don't know how difficult that may be...
I m very proud this what you made in the first history, I never think about it this one. I want to thank you for sharing this for our country's safety!
I have watched a lot of your builds, i'm impressed to say the least. It would be cool if you build a re movable 6x10 square drop (on a trailer) with a pop up top. That would be so cool.
So you didn't make it a DVR then? I feel like that's the final step given you're running it off a secondary battery bank. I didn't see a DVR in your equipment list so that's why I'm assuming it's just a live feed. Been looking to do the same thing myself but need a DVR too. Good job on the video.
I'm not very happy with the kits either. I wish the OEM cameras weren't so ungodly expensive. Lastly, these vans should come with a smart rearview mirror. It just seems impossible that they don't.
I can't find your mirror cam and I think maybe cause it's not on amazon right now. Do you have any other suggestion, I was using your links as I may want to do additional cameras as well and also affiliate links. Thanks Any other suggestions if not? Was thinking of the Wolfbox 12 inch
There is no way we laypeople can install all that. I'm looking at solar wireless cameras on Amazon and Costco with no splicing wires for power front and back license plate cameras with dual split 5" monitor for $200, but what to do with the side cameras?
DualEx, I ordered everything from your shopping list for this build. But I cannot find the electronic installations video for this. I know thatyou said not to worry about the installation part of this video because you were going to do an electronics video where you show us how this particular system is wired up. What do I do next? Also will I need to install "porch lights" so the cameras will show me what's goingoing on in the dark? I know that some cameras have night vision. How did your cameras do at night?
You have some of the most helpful videos out here. I'm always excited to see what you're up to even though I don't comment very often. I know when you're finished with your van it's going to be not only functional but it'll be beautiful! Can't wait! 🤗
Where did u install your GPS receiver? For some reason, my gps signal is weak and only get it occasionally. My GPS receiver is located inside of my car on the front windshield. Maybe I will try move it outside.
I dig this guys skillset … and creativity.. but this camera set is obsolete when the sun goes down 😢 … this is when I need to know what’s going on outside the most! Scrap these cameras and get night vision cameras 🎥 you’ll save yourself time and effort..
Would you be interested in collaborating on a simple surveillance van? We are bounty hunters but we do use this as a ministry platform to help people that are trying to get over the hump in life. I already have the van and it has a desk and chair in it but I’d like to add a fridge, toilet system, cameras, and cool workstation (computer).
Surely if it's obvious you have security cameras (visible) your less likely to be broken into, if you go hiding them then you van gets damaged stuff hiked and you have to fight the insurance company for what you feel they owe you.
Nice brother! How did you split the video feed for both blind spot camera’s into your head unit as well? Since there is only one more open camera input on that head unit. Did you just use a secondary RCA splitter from both side cameras right into the one (last open) camera input on the head unit?
You could get a well paying job at any police department setting up their under cover vehicle! My neighbor has this kinda job and make good money for easy work.
I installed these cameras and the monitor on my van after watching your video and they work perfectly accept the night vision is terrible:( have you had the same issue? Know how to fix it?

I would like this system wireless for both blindspot vision plus security while inside a cargo trailer. Is that possible.

This is great advice (not just for the video poster but for us watching it!) I hadn’t heard this before. Thankyou!
Good advice. Paint any exposed metal after drilling, then place grommets to protect the cables.
When is the wiring video on how to connect the fuse box coming? Awsome channel!

Love waking up to see your vids man! i’m trying to get on your level of camper/van/rv renovations. your videos give me inspiration
If you turn off your monitor, will the monitor return to single mode every time you turn it on? Or is 4-way lockable?
How do you store the video material?
(Does the screen have a DVR function to store video?)
Now all you need is a camera that shows the driver, in case your vehicle is stolen. Like those cameras they use in bait car videos.
Great job I am doing the same for my camper build, I have to integrate a DVR as well.
Great job. Elon Musk just opened a $1.1 billion dollar Tesla factory in Austin, Texas by the airport. They can use great smart innovated minded people and pay a tremendous salary
How much would you charge to install for a customer?? I need these on my van. Str8🆙
Have you came up with a price for this one yet?
How did these cameras work for you? I'd like to get some for my build too. Did they fog up? Hows the video quality at night?
This vid is interesting and educational again you nailed it Duel Ex. I always feel that again your deep insight on practical projects are wonderful gifts of your skills and knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
I don't see a link to the smart mirror. Can you provide one, or tell me who makes it?
I see the list of products, but the smart mirror isn't among them. I've had several but I like the one you used.
Thinkware F790 and MB100 will do the same thing, but a bit more refined.
Can also output to a monitor, and will obviously record etc. :)
You are so impressive, there is nothing you can't do !! We sit here in Ottawa Canada watching your accomplishments and can't help but be amazed at your unique talents to tackle jobs most people could not do or think to do. Bravo.
Same question from the solar panel video. Do you use grommets (anything) on the wire access holes that you drill into the vehicle? Just curious ...
Perfect! Thank you so much! 😀
Don't forget to file or sand those holes so they don't chop up your wires.
You blended those in GR8T!😃
Hey brother how can I get in touch with you I just bought a van so I need some help on it I’ll love if you would do some work on it. Thank

Thank you! great video. I cannot find the link for the four channel monitor! where did you buy it?
thanks for this information . love your video's, all very well made . . and am glad you don't have over powering blaring music in the back ground as you are talking . keep up the good work ! what you show helps and inspires many people.
I try my best to mix the audio well during my edits. I think audio is more important than the visual quality
Ditto on the music. Many times on vids, the music is so grating I need to turn off the volume.
Should of just bought a 360 backup system and had it powered all the time. You could of stitched the images and seen 360 of your vehicle.
Hey bro enjoyed watching your work and I will do the same for my MotorHome.
Got one thing to comment on and that is please use your safety glasses or maybe one day you’ll be walking around looking like a pirate or maybe not looking at all!! Catch my drift? Keep up the good work
Regard’s and respect from the buckleman
This parts list and a little elbow grease may be my solution to my dash cam hesitancy

you should teach your students-get some people to train to build vans -an videos on that/like your work man/keep the videos coming/thanks much

This video answered the question I wanted addressed (security cameras) for a stealth van. Thanks for the straightforward way you presented it.
I needed this stealth security system so bad😭 thanks
Very clever and creative man.
Shame you need a Cop Cam, but that is the reality.

For security on your van why be stealth? I'd want EVERYBODY to know that they are being watched/recorded as they approach my van.
Wow! I'd have to have you put it in🌟 It's too much for me.
Happy Easter🐰
PS... I'm patiently waiting for GUTTED
I'm going to order the cameras and monitor, and install them on my solar camper van! Wired security cameras are the best for remote RV camping and if the grid goes down (EMP !). Hi, do the cameras record too?
Your knowledge is so amazing.
I m very proud this what you made in the first history, I never think about it this one. I want to thank you for sharing this for our country's safety!
How big of a battery would I need to run something like this. Would a jackery 300 work. (300w/peak 500w). Very cool video
That’s wonderful to see , you are educating people every day. I’m really learning and I’m a senior. Thank you
At LAAAAST! a video on how to connect a 12v solar power station outlet to a fuse box
( yes I'm a newbie)❗❗ Thanks😊😊
Hey once again thank you for being so thorough and thoughtful
Take my money please!🤣

I know thatyou said not to worry about the installation part of this video because you were going to do an electronics video where you show us how this particular system is wired up. What do I do next? Also will I need to install "porch lights" so the cameras will show me what's goingoing on in the dark? I know that some cameras have night vision. How did your cameras do at night?
You have some of the most helpful videos out here. I'm always excited to see what you're up to even though I don't comment very often. I know when you're finished with your van it's going to be not only functional but it'll be beautiful! Can't wait! 🤗
DualEx ...Should be doing XXX
(Triple X)
Nice Guns there Hot Rod!
I don't see the link to the camera you mounted on the back of the rearview mirror. Do you have a link for that? Thanks.
Hey boss I remember when I saw you on the first van build I knew you were going to grow the channel real good
Surely if it's obvious you have security cameras (visible) your less likely to be broken into, if you go hiding them then you van gets damaged stuff hiked and you have to fight the insurance company for what you feel they owe you.
Nice brother! How did you split the video feed for both blind spot camera’s into your head unit as well? Since there is only one more open camera input on that head unit. Did you just use a secondary RCA splitter from both side cameras right into the one (last open) camera input on the head unit?
Looking🕯 forward to watching your videos always 🆒️man❗
so impressive!!! thank you for sharing;)
amazing you have such a way almost like an artist with a canvas you sir are destined for greatness thank you for sharing
