    I haven’t been on a plane in months. My last trip was from DEL-SFO on a united 787-9. I was living in Delhi for a year and went to school (as an American Indian). We got evacuated on a USA chartered flight. We normally go back to India twice a year and I really want to go back. My dream is in aviation. I want to become a pilot on a United 777-300ER. Especially since it’s my favorite aircraft. The feeling of being on a plane to me, is immeasurable. That landing was absolutely lovely. Love the video man!

      Thanks a lot! That’s one of my firm beliefs in these videos. I’ll add some music while I’m still on the ground and explaining things around as then it’s not just my voice and a bunch of white noise in the background but when in the air I also want it to be as if the viewer is traveling with me, nothing but pure airplane noise.

    Thanks for this wonderful review. I am planning to fly this route around Dec/Jan in premium plus. I am concerned with the comfort level as it is a 16hr flight. Is the recline comfortable enough to get 6-8hrs of sleep?

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  4 года назад +1

      Jay Bariya the recline will be just fine, and the legrest is quite enough too. If row 20 is available, there’s the most legroom one that row that you could ever ask for. The others are just fine, but row 20 is unlimited legroom on the 777-300ER.
      If it helps, I was able to get around 7-8 hours of sleep on this flight. 5 hours after dinner, then did some work, then another 2/3 hours leading up to the next meal. And every other time I fly this route in normal economy, i routinely get no more than 5-6 hours of sleep, so I think you’ll be able to get a decent amount of sleep. As with any US carrier, they do like to keep the cabin relatively cold. I personally like that, not everyone does, but something to keep In mind for you. Hope this helps and please do ask if you have any other questions, cheers!

    Planning on flying, Delhi - Newark on 777-300ER, would you suggest sleeping in the first half of flight or second half?. Additionally, due to covid they are serving only one meal, any idea when it will be served?

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  4 года назад

      Vibhu Mogalapalli i find it very hard to believe that only one meal will be served. This is a 15 hour flight and there should at least be a post-departure and pre-arrival meal if not a mid flight snack. That being said, if that’s the case, it is more likely that this meal will be served after departure. I would sleep maybe 1 or 2 hours into the flight, after the meal is done, sleep as long as you’d like, and wake up for the second meal if it’s there. Do be sure to keep walking around. For flights over 12 hours I average around 10,000 steps on board. Good to get exercise and keep moving around on the long flight. But after you sleep. Hope this helps and please do let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers :)

    Did you face any hurdles arriving in Newark regarding covid test requirements? My family are flying United from Delhi direct also and it appears both on United provided guidelines and Newark transit authority that a one time 72 hour pre take off negative test result is sufficient to get through Newark checkpoints. Just want to cross t's and dot i's. Nice video, impeccable english accent by the way.

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching. Unfortunately I’m not sure I can answer that because this flight is from January 2020 before Covid became serious so I can’t say for sure, and as a matter fact I have not stepped out of the country since this very flight.
      But from word-of-mouth of several of my friends and colleagues who have taken international trips, they’ve had mixed reports about having their test checked coming in. In either case no one really enforces anything once you leave the airport. Sorry I wish I could’ve been of more help but unfortunately I don’t have personal experience that I can talk about.

    Usually people fly via Emirates or in an European airline? what was the reason for United to be your choice? would it be a recommendation for us to travel?

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад +1

      Usually for work it’s the most convenient and fastest option going to the US. Commuting between LA and india is already a long enough commute as it’s quite possibly as close as it gets to “halfway around the world” so taking something that skips the middle countries and goes straight to the US is always convenient, also having status with United also makes the journey a little more enjoyable with extra perks here and there even if United is no comparison to other carriers like emirates.
      Also this flight is so beautifully timed unlike so many other ME carriers that leave at 4/5am and European carriers that leave at 2/3am. This flight leaves at a good time (1120pm during summer months/1210am in winter months) and arrived around 530/6am and you’ll definitely get a full sleep on this flight as it’s 15.5-16 hours and it takes you straight to the US.

    Awesome video man. I’ve never been to India before, but I’m hoping to go there soon on the UA 777-300ER. The only time I flew on the United 777 was the 200ER from Newark to Dublin on UA23/22 to see family and relatives. Other than that, the flight was great. I’m sure your flight was amazing as well. @@TheAircraftKing thank you very much. Yes, I was a bit unlucky to not fly the new dreamliner 787-10, because I've never been on the dreamliner before, lol. If I was to head to India, which flight would be better, UA48/49 to and from Mumbai or UA82/83 to and from New Delhi? I've heard that Air India isn't so good with international service. If you ever want to go to beautiful Ireland from Newark, I'd recommend to fly UA22/23 to and from Dublin instead of Shannon. Dublin is a really nice airport with the new terminal 2.

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  4 года назад +1

      Darragh Daly I would say it’s about the same and really depends where you want to go. UA48/49 is one of United’s biggest money maker routes so they’ve deployed their new 777-300ER for quite some years now on that route while Delhi has a 777-200ER. However with more of the 772s being retrofitted, the experience will be nearly the same on both routes, it just depends where you’d want to go really.

I've been on their route to and from Mumbai too many times in the last 10 or so years and I'll say that sometimes its good and sometimes it's not so good, but more or less in recent times the food has been decent. Also, judging by the reviews of Delta itself, I think it would actually be a nice airline to fly from Mumbai/Delhi to JFK, as they're probably the best of the Big 3 (in my opinion), but United is good. The one from ORD-DEL was decent, with paneer and dal and then as I mentioned the mezze platter thing. From DEL-ORD, you know what happened on that, soggy dosas, crappy paneer. Also speaking of that court order thing, I remember my dad flew the same route I mentioned and got a call from New York/NJ or Illinois saying you need to fill out something to quarantine or such for residents, but that didn't apply to us as we were living in Ohio. Also, I have flown EWR-DEL back in 2016 (on a 200ER) and I don't remember much, but I know that the screen's touch screen part didn't work half of the time. I'm not the biggest fan of the 777 (in general) because of its 10 abreast config in Economy, which feels a bit cramped, even on Emirates (which I flew 7 years ago). But Emirates is an amazing airline, their food was amazing, IFE no doubts everyone knows it's probably the best in the world, and decently comfortable, but little cramped because of the 10 abreast instead of the more comfortable 9 abreast.

      It’s not about the looks of the amenity kit, it’s about the practicality. Great review! Honestly, the food presentation looks a bit disappointing, especially the mid snack. Its 'premium' economy, sandwiches shouldn't be served lie they do in Rajdhani express!

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  4 года назад

      Raghav Sanghi thanks a lot! And Lol and I actually understood the reference too! I do agree the mid flight snack could have been presented better, but after flying premium economy on about 4-5 different carriers long haul, I’ve come to realize that that won’t ever be a reality. The first and last meals will be plated properly and with glass too but unfortunately the mid flight snack won’t be plated as such.

    here is my thought on the video even though it was a good video. A lot of airlines getting away from nuts cause coming to find out that a lot of people are allergic to nut products. the reason that most food taste bland in other class cabins unless to booking the #1 class cabin. is people with high BP or what ever. If your willing to speed the extra $ to get the chef then you tell them how you want it. But i do think you should have got the ice cream. Just hope my 5 flight'S go smooth thanksgiving day. After 5 flight I hope I get all my luggage at same time

      Prepping food on a plane and cooking for a plane environment is certainly far less than ideal so I’m very sympathetic to that, but for the eggs and spinach in particular, they couldn’t have bothered to have even a dash of salt. On other breakfasts I’ve had out of Mumbai, I’ve had better eggs before. This one was interesting for sure

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  4 года назад

      Gaurav Gogia it’s definitely a route I’d love to fly. But I’d have to see when I’d fly it. All my India trips are to Mumbai or Pune and since I live in LA my journey would originate there. It’s definitely a route I have on my radar though, I’d just also have to see when I’d fit It in. Also being on a 787 in economy for 16 hours in 3-3-3 is definitely a no-no as much as I fly United, which is why if I had to fly to Delhi I’d fly via EWR on United. But let’s see what opportunities are available once the quarantine period ends and India opens back up.

      This is true if you don’t hydrate properly. And a plane is a place where one can dehydrate very easily. However I drink too much water on a plane and go on regular walks so this isn’t too much of an issue for me. Also I’d say the quantities that would be used in a plane are of minimal quantities anyways.
