In this clip, former DEA agent Hector Berrellez reveals shocking details about the murder of DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. According to Berrellez, a decision was made to kill Camarena after CIA officials and cartel members interrogated him. Rafael Caro Quintero, a founding member of the cartel, made the decision without the presence of the cartel boss. However, another cartel member intervened and ordered Quintero not to kill Camarena. Despite objections, Quintero refused to let Camarena be taken to a hospital due to his severe injuries. Berrellez also shares that he recruited a CIA operative named Larry as an informant, who later admitted that the US government was involved in drug trafficking to fund the Contras.

@@louisfernandezleija69 Don’t remember which episode but it was towards the end of S1 I think. Felix Gallardo was told this was an order from above to kidnap Camarena and extract info from him. At that time the Mexican gov and intelligence was in the pocket of the CIA. It’s implied that this wasn’t the rogue action of some cartel dudes. Even Felix didn’t want to do it in the show when he was ordered. If Netflix shows a bunch of CIA dudes interrogating and aiding the cartels against an FBI agent the backlash would be huge.

I watched all 12 episodes of Hector n they're great but i kept thinkin he looks familiar then BOOM the tortilla in sausage party
A problem I have with this story is that he threatened to kidnap the guy before the guy "confessed" to the CIA being behind Camarena's death. So this confession was made under duress, where the guy only came in because he was worried about what would happen if he didn't, and there's now a motive there to lie and to get Berrellez off his back. Say the CIA is behind things and that's over Berrrellez's head, makes him back off. "You can't kidnap me, I'm CIA." We have no proof this guy actually was CIA and even if he was, we have no evidence that what he says about the CIA being involved in Camarena's death is fact. I hope he's not basing all of this on what one guy said under duress.
