arizona won an award and that’s THE dream (once in a lifetime) for every surgeon. callie never showed support even once, and couldn’t even pretend to do so. after watching the episode where callie left to new york with penny, it gets so confusing as to how callie was sooo okay with going to new york with a third year resident doing a common residency (not even paid) AND bringing their child.
Callie takes that deep breath when Arizona says I don't want to go to Africa with you... oh sad, sad. I don't know why I have watched this scene so many times! Powerful, excellent, outstanding writing!

I get why Arizona broke up with calie at the airport because calie keep going on and on about not wanting to go and saying things like oh i'm sure we find something to do in Africa. you could clearly tell that calie didn't want to go to Africa with arizona. even mark could tell that calie didn't want to go to afica and wasn't really excited for Arizona to having win the fellowship. so when arizona came back to win calie. calie placed all the blame on arizona when it was both of their faults. i feel like from this point on the writers have been writing calie as a saint in their relationship with Arizona and arizona gets placed a the evil one it's just not fair how about writing something that calie does wrong in the relationship. for a change.

Honestly, if I had been granted a big opportunity like what Arizona was given and my significant other kept being that passive and dismissive and just all around obnoxious like Callie was doing, I would get angry as well. This is huge for Arizona and Callie has nothing to say but mean things and doesn't even apologize for her nasty behavior when she's finally called out on it. She pretends to be supportive, but you know she isn't, because she doesn't check her behavior. She doesn't say, "You know what, you're right. I'm sorry. I'm happy for you and this is going to be an amazing experience that we both get to share. And who knows, maybe I'll warm up to Africa."
No. Instead, she doubles down on her crap and essentially just says, "I have every right to be grouchy because this is going to suck for me. I mean good for you, but I have no reason to be happy about this at all. So, just put up with my shit because we're about to miss our flight."
I really don't blame Arizona for going alone.

@@jen-jl5dn PTSD doesn't make you cheat, cheating is a choice plus Arizona treated callie like crap after the leg amputation but in all still callie stayed, when she left callie at the airport then coming back nobody told her to come back then start complaining, she cheated on callie while they are still married, but still callie stayed, we should stop putting things on ptsd every time there is a mistake, you give Arizona too much pass and by the way Arizona is a female version of Mark just check since she appeared on Greys how many ladies she slept with even when she was telling callie she had to go digest and worse they are Dr's and Nurses there.

I love calzona. I do, but Arizona demanded Callie stay in Seattle and not go to Portland because Arizona had a say as her "girlfriend." Callie asks Arizona to stay; she begs,but apparently Callie has no say and is given no choice. It's just so hypocritical. Arizona made a choice to go...and later come back.

Heartbreaking but I still think Arizona is selfish. It is her dream and Callie is trying really hard to be there for her, she is willing to give up everything and at least try... and Arizona is just standing there like "well, you're not over the moon like I am so you are ruining it for me". I love them together but this.. this was just plain selfish of Arizona. Thank God she came back. She owed it to Callie.

Yeah, but you're forgetting Callie was giving up her entire life as she knew it to go live with Arizona in Africa. Leaving family, friends, work and everything she knew and held dear behind. Under those circumstances I think anyone would have to go through a period of adjustment to get used to the idea. But the important part was that Callie was actually willing to go and leave all that behind for Arizona. At the end of the day she was on board and trying to be happy for both of them. Arizona was very inmature to overlook this and only focus on the one week that, as Callie puts it, she was "cranky" about leaving her life behind.
She wanted Callie to stay there and be happy. Callie didn’t want to go she wasn’t gonna force her to change her while lofe for her if she was gonna be miserable
I think it will always be wiser to choose your profession over your parthner even more if you are health care professional like Nurse or Doctor who’s help is needed abroad in order to save lives
I didn’t. I had a promising career but I left it behind to move with my husband to a new state. It’s been tough at times to rebuild my career in a profession I love, but I’ve finally made it. Had I chosen to stay with my career and leave my spouse I would never have had the change to be married to him, or to enjoy the life we share together and though hard work I’ve managed to build a career in a new industry and one that I’m loving being a part of.
Sometimes putting your career second to your relationship will let you have it all one day.
Looking back in this scene, Callie is so unreasonable for making this as arizona’s fault, it’s as if going to Africa FOR A GROUNDBREAKING OPPORTUNITY is such a bad thing. She even made Arizona choose between their relationship and her career.
Also Callie after 4 seasons: goes with a resident doing a regular residency program (unpaid) to new york with her and arizona’s daughter and still found a way to bring arizona to court like it’s just an easy decision for arizona to let her daughter go just like that 🙄
And she went to Africa and nobody told her to come back she decided to come back on her own and start blaming callie, the cutting of her leg was to save her life but she kept complaining on my side I wish then callie could have let her die cause that is what she wanted, and her cheating when they are married and blamed callie ptsd no cheating is a choice and she made it, callie going to Newyork she deserve it even Sofia deserve new environment, and even when Sofia came back Sofia didn't want to stay.

Ya’ll have to admit that even Callie had her shitty moments as well, not just Arizona. In this episode, Callie was so unsupportive towards Arizona’s achievement and i dont think Arizona’s wrong for getting annoyed. For cheating and the blaming Callie for amputating her leg, then that’s on Arizona. Regarding the custody thing, ya’ll can’t seriously ignore how far Callie went just to get their daughter to another state with a woman she’s only been dating for a few months.
Also, no one said Sofia nor Callie deserved to go to New York. We are calling out Callie because of how she treated Arizona during the court trial - making her seem like the bad guy for going to a bar with Webber, for taking a patient call in the middle of a trial (since she was really needed and Callie should’ve understood Arizona’s situation), and the way her lawyer talked down Arizona and Callie had the audacity to smirk like wHat
Season 14 is on its way and this still remains to be one of my all time favorite scenes from the series

I remember this, I agreed with Arizona, Callie’s character is too overbearing sometimes and rather than just come right out and discuss long distance regular visits, she ruined the joy around this award, and made a generally happy person miserable. She did the same with george. Smothered with her desperation to love. They should have stayed broken up.
Later with the ridiculous leg thing that Arizona could not get over…they were doomed. Their personalities were not compatible when it came to the hard stuff like trust and forgiveness.

I would also make the radical argument that maybe the amputee and and trauma victim should get to be a little difficult, especially when callie constantly makes huge life decisions for her (cutting off the leg, having a baby, moving across the country, filing for sole custody), pretends like she should get sympathy for being a plane crash victim when literally nothing even happened to her, and constantly guilt trips her and refuses to grow as a person.

yeah but through the whole series Arazona blames Callie for everything. I’m with Callie if my partner said “ Hey I got this once in a lifetime chance and accepted it. Btw everything YOU worked for will need to be dropped and you should be happy I’m flipping your world upside down without talking to you because yay me!!!” I’m not saying she didn’t deserve to go to Africa and live her dream but a relationship is a two way street. She knew this would effect Callie so she should have sat down and talked to her about how the relationship would move forward. Not assume Callie would be happy to drop everything she worked for for her. And then after all the plans are made change her mind. Like Callie should have been upfront about this and ended it. Yes, we deserve our partners support, but not at the expense of their own lives and careers.

I pretty much was always on Callie's side in all their arguments. Always. Except for two times. Arizona was right when she saod Callie behaved like she was on the plane with them which was annoying and uncomfortable to watch. And second throughout the whole custody ordeal. Oh my god i hated callie during that time.here tho arizona was a real biatch.
What really annoyed me was the fact that Callie many times refered to Sophia as HER daughter, (and didn´t really ask for Arizona´s opinion when she wanted to move to NYC). If she has TWO moms, then Callie should neve pretend or make Arizona feel less of a mom just because she didn´t birth her, that´s ridiculous. I ahte when this happens, always there is one (the bio mom), wheo thinks that has more rights.

In the car accident Callie literally went through a wall of glass head first and landed on her stomach which was holding her beloved child.
Yet Arizona seems to make it all about her and makes it like her injuries were more horrid than Callie's.
This happened before the car crash.
