this duel is for me the best duel in the entire franchise this fight (and all the fight in this arc make it the best arc of all yu gi oh) is not just about signer vs dark signer is about make peace with the past for the misty vs akiza and kiryu vs yusei and for leo vs devack i think it's about what's a hero someone who even if he know than he is afraid gonna do what he have to do to protect his sister and for this duel make jack fight the "ghost" of carly who is the first to see him more than just some fallen king but a true inspiration with is determination and jack fight her as hard as he can to save the girl who make understand than even if he is just a shadow of is past glory some people believe in him and what he acomplish and the fact he believe in her to the end and when he see he can't save her he was ready to die with her yu gi oh 5ds is clearly a true masterpiece and the best yu gi oh series
i know im late but i think you forgot crow vs kreiger while it might not have a deep meaning to others i think 1 guy fighting for revrenge of his brother sister and entire village compared to a guy fighting for people he took in when they all were alone along with the fact that is how he felt crow and kreiger are like the opposite side on the same coin
This duel truly could have been a great turning point for Konami and Yu-Gi-Oh! Especially to correct their flaws in handling romance, but no they just waste it. Tragic man, I hard ship Yusei x Aki and Jack x Carly. They clearly deserve each other and love each other deeply, but they leave us unsatisfied by trying to keep everyone as friends or admirers.
thing is Aki and Yusei is cannon in the final undubbed arc (thanks to 4Kids) and Carly was intended to be Jacks girl just her Japanese VA screwed that over being part of a cult so blame irl things we never saw it

I belong to Carly I loved her at the time and I offered myself to her and excepted Earth Bound Immortal KuKumyu and this was my favorite episode. This episode was my destiny and I didn't understand it at the time I am now able to live in peace and put this behind me.

Holy fucking shit Carly completely wrecked jack in this duel. First half of the duel was an utter stomp and Carly had to throw to keep Jack in the game. Dark Signer Carly was pretty OP.
I think it is blood from a wound he received through Earthy's or Darky's attack. At 1:40 you see the wound opening up and the red running down his face.
I didn't like this episode at all. Mainly at the fact at how forced these two were pushed together. Carly was nothing but an obsessive fangirl stalking Jack around because he was lit. And when she ended up dead, she now wants the entire world dead just so she can be with Jack forever? Lol, what? If that isn't selfish, then I don't know what is. Her entire motive after being revived as a Dark Signer was outright weak and pathetic compared to the others who had more legit motives for becoming Dark Signers.
My memory might be a bit foggy but I'm pretty sure she became a dark signer to save her life and her obsession with jack along with the power she gained just drove her mad. Her motive wasn't to be with jack, as a reporter/fangirl he was the only thing she had left
