In 70’s - 80’s unit orders dictated what 58 pat. skeleton order webbing had to contain, basically everything you needed to fight & survive for at least 24hrs.; to cook/eat/drink, mess tins, hexi burner, water bottle, 24 hr rat pack, wash & shave kit, spare socks & pants, weapon cleaning kit, magazines, respirator, poncho, water sterilisation kit, NBC suit, bunjies, green string etc etc. In the Falklands war after our bergans were lost all that had to last us for days on end and it did.
The bum roll was shit & these shagin' NBC boots Remember in basic training going for a webbing run & I had a tin of shaving foam in there...sprayed all down my lightweights 😅 The instructors had a good 😃 Obviously later I got an old fashioned shaving stick & brush😂 Some thought they were clever having mini electric razors but in extreme cold the batteries didn't work. Yes & our Gun No 1 had us stripped at the back of our Gun washed & shaved...kawk & @ss too 😮 I remember being blue with the cold & my manhood was like a female bodybuilders klit 😮
I found my notebook from when I joined in 1986 the other day and reading through there was my webbing kit list, and what I would put in each pouch and a rough description for how to pack it so it all fitted and most importantly, didn’t make any noise.
reg locks descent similar to like we had in the sates from the 60`s to Elrey 2000`s and over here some people use this kind of thing for camping hiking or to some existent as a get home bag . i have 4 of these 2 for hiking a round town and other 2 for a day or day in a hafe hiking trips . i love them perfick for what i need them for .
The webbing I used in 2001-2008 the 95 pattern PLCE was so much better than the one they now using. Not sure why they changed it to this new style as there was nothing wrong with the old style, as the saying go if it’s not broken why fix it. I have seen a lot of soldiers still using the old style. I’ve actually still got a set lol I still use it for when I go on hikes or camping plus I can use it with my bugout bag too. I don’t like the look of the new style webbing at all just looks cheap and will fall apart very easily, 100% preferred what I used to use the 95 pattern PLCE which I think they then brought it out again but in the MTP.
I want to see what you girlies are wearing 😅 Back in the day we got issued with long John's & green shreddies. I never used them myself as they were unsexy The long John's I wore once but found them uncomfortable, I even heard of one weirdo who wore his wife's tights under his combats😮 Was actually another case in Colchester ( the Vikings) when a full screw was actually cought in his car wearing his wife's nylons & suspenders...true story. The RMP pulled him over 😮
Helmet and body armour aside, unless made to, I avoid using VIRTUS as its absolute garbage. A considerable amount (50% or so) of items on kit lists I've never ever used, and find to be a waste of space and unnecessary weight, and many things that can be issued items but nobody will ever provide them (if they even have them in stores) so you're expected to source and self provide (whistles, compasses, knives (clasp or other) torches, etc). I never carry a flask as I don't do hot drinks. Unless some lunatic is dictating how an individual is to set up their personal webbing I place my water bottle over to my right hand side, either behind, or in place of, the right hand side ammo pouches (PLCE). So my usual layout L-R (PLCE) is Ammo pouch, Utilities pouch, Med pouch, rations, cutlery & cooker pouch, water and metal mug pouch or jettison the med pouch / combine it with utilities and then add an extra ammo pouch after the water bottle. Day sack generally use to cart waterproofs, spare bottle of water, an item of warm kit and a GS shelter sheet converted to a stretcher. Only add to those contents if made/required too. Anything else goes in by Bergen.
Have you deployed on operations much as a reservist? I was Green Howards from 1986-2000. I like your videos and its interesting to see how much the army has changed since i was in. I remember my time in Northern Ireland and Bosnia like it was yesterday ,long before you were born:)
So someone just pushed my buzzer at 4am and then started a fight (fortunately not with me) but it made me wonder during your training do you have to be prepared to leave at any moment and how do you deal with that?
Haha I've just been issued my virtus kit. Prior to us deploying for ACT this weekend. First impressions. The webbing seems good. Especially the ease of placing the pouches on, compared to the PLCE webbing. Body armour feels comfortable to wear. Daysack is too big for my liking. I've been "advised" to take out the back frame, but I might leave it in to see how it feels for me. I'm not a fan of the bergen. It's a bit small for the kit I usually pack. Or simply put it, it's not a PLCE bergen 🤣 I might see if the TQMS will give me back my PLCE bergen after ACT
My how times have changed..... In my days 1986-97 webbing was a term squaddies used for women's suspenders and sexy u derwear. Also back then the RMP unit next door to 1RS Werl.... I think they were 114 Provost company, made a black female RMP NCO mount guard with a spear and a gown made of hessian sacks.. Made her stag on like that on their gate. I heard the same NCO was attacked a few weeks later in her barrack roomby a Royal Scotwitha hammer. Don't let your daughter join the slaughter.
Hi Chelsie and anyone else watching have nothing around your back (OBVious) make your own with double pockets on the front obviously better than fkn standard issue which is absolute shite and no good (well done The Military sounds like nothing has changed as no thought has ever gone into it)
Agreed. Only soft kit in any belt pouches on back. Pouch containing a civilised brew kit takes priority over med kit on ex. Or anywhere else, to be honest.

That Webbing looks good compared to what I was issued in the late 80's (66 pattern). I'm 52 now and still have the Webbing burn marks.

Lol, you should try the pattern 58 I had to use. 👍
