Thank you for this video. I have to shoot a football game in Manhattan this weekend, and it's supposed to be 100% chance of rain thanks to the remnants of Hurrican Ian. Not sure how hard it will rain but this was very helpful!

Thanks for watching! Just know too that if it gets too much for the gear don't be afraid to stop shooting and maybe find a way to photograph from under an umbrella or overhang. Hope it goes well!

Great video man. I was last-minute panicking for an event I got hired for (being my first event as well) and wanted to look over some videos. Luckily I came across yours! Love the channel

@@cameastonphotos Great to hear! Sand is great to shoot on for light and texture, but rough on the gear sometimes!

I have a spare Poncho and a roll off Neopren with me. I use the Neopren roll to put of on the ground when i Setup Remote cameras or to put my backpack or the trolly on it to protect it from the wet ground. And then the Seconds Poncho goes over the Stuff. And of course the iCap Laptop Cover. Thinktank has also one of these.

ThePixeluser great set up! Depending on the event and weather I’ll just leave my bags in the car and only take the gear out. But sometimes I don’t have that option!

Love your videos. Just one thing. I'm not sure why, but this video sounds weird while wearing headphones. Maybe the music balance is wrong or something. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for watching! Yea, some of the videos will only play through one headphone, didn't realize the audio was like that when I was editing.

    Hi Paul
Great video with lots of info and tips for working in the rain. I'm an amateur sports photographer with just 6 month's experience what id really like to know is the setting configuration as most times that it rains it will be overcast and gloomy. I would assume that you're still shooting at F2.8 and as fast as you can shutter speed but how do you stop your ISO from blowing out your pictures? thanks in advance

Thanks for watching! I shoot manual 90% of the time so after I set my aperture and shutter speed I'll dial in my ISO depending on how bright it is that day. Two tips are to turn on highlight alert if your camera has it, then you can see what is blown out on your photo right away. The other is that I tend to underexposure by a a third of a stop to and then brighten the image in post. You gotta play around with what settings work best for your editing workflow. I'd give you specific numbers, but it really does depend on the day.
