I think the Irish Navy should give Babcock Marine the contract for its MRV fleet. It would be dirt cheap because appledore wants to at least have some work to tide them over till the type 31e comes around.
The MRV is being ordered next year or the year after, hoping Babcock will get the contract. If not it'll most likely be Blohm + Voss with the MEKO 200, the govt was already considering one of those
@@krehetpi I don't think the MRV will be from NZN but they are currently in talks of buying two NZN Lake Class vessels to patrol the Irish Sea due to Brexit. I imagine they will have their MRV commissioned rather than purchased second hand.
It's the UK Red Ensign, ships always fly the flag of the country the ship is built in whilst on sea trails, when she is handed over to her owners she'll hoist the flag of her home country.
As an Irish man, I hope British manufacturing survives, this ship is impressive.
Beautiful Lines!!
Liam Connolly ...That is why navy ships are always called " SHE " .

@@ataka2142 maybe Appledore will tender for it.
@@krehetpi I thought Appledore was shutting down soon?
Someone has bought Appledore and she is open ... lets hope it stays that way
