      I wonder if that will ever happen. We would probably have done better to have had 3 or 4 smaller ones. We also need ships that don't mind of the water's too warm or too cold.

      I'm afraid I agree.
      Comments I've heard are that 5 frigates from the T32 program plus 6 ships from the MRSS programme are not fully funded for both of those things to happen but that there might be trade-offs (transfer of funding) between the two programmes so it is still possible that the RN might get 6 MRSS but that might be at the expense of cancelling the T32 plans altogether, or maybe less dramatic we might see the originally planned 5-frigate T32 program switch to adding extra ships to the T31 build (maybe as few as 1 extra vessel) with any T32 funding released maybe being able to at least get the MRSS total number up to 4 or 5.
      Given how disappointing all the RN underfunding has been in the last decade or more I would be fairly OK with it if the final funding-constrained result was T31/T32 being merged to deliver a total of 8 T31s (not so under-armed now if the 32 x Mk41 are added to all vessels) giving a total of 8 x T26-ASW + 8 x T31-GP frigates which would be a worthwhile improvement on the previous 8 x T23-ASW + 5 x T23-GP frigates (and that was the "good old days", it's fewer now that T23 are gradually going out of service) plus even 5 x MRSS would arguably be better than the current situation because Albion/Bulwark are running a 1-in-extended-rediness arrangement so only 1 at best is ever available (and sometimes none) whereas a uniform fleet of 5 vessels should generate more pretty capable deployed vessels compared to the piecemeal Albion/Argus/Bay class setup we have now.

    The Americans appear to have abandoned very expensive and trouble-prone, multi-role warships! Do the Royal Navy have a better plan? The RFA has enormous trouble recruiting new personnel but, in addition, cannot seem to retain them! Perhaps if the RN had not built those two aircraft carriers, then they would have enough sailors to be able to crew all their other vessels both existing and planned. Is the UK really committed to growing the size of its fleet or not I wonder? Is it all smoke and mirrors? Other navies (both friendly AND UNfriendly), will not be easily fooled! Pay the sailors a decent wage/salary or they will vote with their feet.

    • @Aendavenau
      @Aendavenau Месяц назад +8

      The UK need to renationalize the hiring of sailors and soldiers, since they privatized recruitment its almost impossible to join. Maybe they can use some of the money they pay the private companies to raise the salaries? Just a thought.

      Any pride in being British is being systematically destroyed. God forbid that anybody likes being English! The young are taught by idiot lefties to hate this country, so many would rather help destroy it than protect it. I've met plenty like it and many "teachers" who are very ignorant. Then there was that recent drive by the RAF to discourage white applicants. this is not going to end well.

      The new uk ships are built with a lot of automation in mind, which means that they require less crew. And there will just be replacing old ships.

    Ajax is not an APC and it's actually an armoured reconnaissance and the replacement for Scimitar. The APC variant is called Ares, the command and control variant is called Athena, engineer reconnaissance is called Argus and armoured recovery vehicles will be called Atlas. This family of vehicles will replace Scimitar, Scorpion and Saracen when they are completely phased out.
    Boxer will also get multiple variants similar to Ajax but will also include Artillery, bridge laying and possibly a brimstone carrying version.
    Just a bit of friendly info, not trying to be a gotcha moment 😊

    They probably won't be added to the fleet total. More likely when they become operational the previous ships will be scrapped.
    Remember they are supposed to be multi role and in the UK this usually means 1 vessel doing 2 or 3 jobs that used to be done by single purpose ships so money saving will probably win.

    The cost of 6 big craft.
    Loose 2 and gain 20 smaller faster lethal platforms and have 2000 marines on these lethal platforms would be a advantage against russian warships coming close to our water's

      I know we have 20 inshore fast platforms.
      These ones would look like small destroyer's fit for purpose.
      We're always making big ships for our interests around the globe.
      The globe is smaller than before.
      We need to protect our own interests at home British isles

    I see new equipment which cost mega money.
    Compared to older platforms which cost pennies to bring out of moth ball.
    Marines commando still use snatch landrover soft skin
    Change to Saracens APC with heavier armaments.
    Chain guns and mini gun also gpmg machine gun

    Would could this platform hold 1000 marines.
    Boxer APC
    Scimitar light recon tank
    Scorpion light recon tank
    Saracens APC better than Landover snatch vehicles.
    Ajax APC
    Warrior APC all battle proven effective fast hard hitting platforms.

    • @tryaluck
      @tryaluck 15 дней назад +1

      Boxer will also get multiple variants similar to Ajax but will also include Artillery, bridge laying and possibly a brimstone carrying version.
      And if these intend to replace Albion and bulwark, they will have to be cable of carrying a reasonable amount of these vehicles. It will be six ships replacing two so they might not be as large. But I hope there are as large, or bigger.
