Rusty, just FYI, I remember a twice reaction to this song. "Bk and Kennedy Roberts" just did "Spell on You" this week. I remember his 1st version of this under his earlier channel, something like "bkroberts26". Definitely same Reactor. I remember because he was extremely negative about AJ and only because he did not like the song. AJ fans remember things like this. He did a 180 this 2nd time around. Now he loves her music. Rare, but it happens.

There was another channel doing that a few months ago... they would release the same video under two different channels with two different thumbnails (a shady practice IMO) This case is completely different, he is saying up front that he is re- reacting to this. This is her first classic. She is barely nine years old! I love the way you express your reaction and the logical explanation you are giving of your process in following Rusty's guidance. You take your role of reactor very seriously and, instead of just saying that you are speechless, like others would say, you focus on the right wordind of your reaction, which is admirable. Your reaction should be a model that new reactors would follow in ordre to provide to their subscribers and viewers an informative and eloquent reaction. To me, her rendition attests of her gifted abilities and her amazing talents: to feel the song and the music, to act in accordance to the lyrics by pretending that she is singing in the face of her frustrating lover, to do a gesture typical of a jazz singer (Who taught her that? Her grandma, and nobody else in her family), to improvise, as jazz singers do, to stabilize her voice all along and to manage her breath control, to master her low tone and her vocal range, to exagerate at will, despite the danger to damage her vocal chords, she will stop that raspy howling in ulterior versions, to be inspired by Jaw Hawkins by being extravagant as a way of paying tribute to him, with the candel in the intro and her strong attitude, and, finally, by giving to the producer (seen in the intro and at the end of the song) her last minute changes before performing the way she intends to. I look forward to your future reaction to her second classic, her cover of James Brown's iconic song, It is a Man's World, in a live concert in 2017 at the Proysenfestivalen. Really like your second reaction to this. You experience what some of us that followed her already from NGT experienced when we first saw this (probably the day after it was published). We knew that this was extraordinary, but we also knew that it was only one step further in her growth.

I have been watching Angelina for over 3 years, I still get emotional and teary eyed on a lot of her performances. Beautifully amazing is what I see in her, not to mention how humble she is. It's not even that she sings it this way it's that she has the choice to sing it one of several different ways at 9 yrs.old. She could come back and sing it a whole different way right now, and it would be just as good but different. To have that much control over her voice is just unbelievable. And she has only gotten better. Yes, she is always pushing and trying to find her limits. I don't know if after this she starts after a different presentation, but she often will choose a song completely divergent from her last fer songs. This never ending quest is what makes her so special.

I agree with Albert, if you listen to the original of Screamin' you will see that Angelina has truly followed her own path and while paying homage to the original author, she creates a new song very balanced and more in line and current, she does not give up striking effects of his voice, but without overburdening them as the author does, but on the other hand he focused heavily on the show effect. Very thoughtful reaction and it is very pleasant to see how you try to understand Angelina's fantastic journey, see you again with Amy's Back to Black, another beautiful rewrite of the little girl

I totally get what you're saying about this being a kind of "cap" (or maybe "capstone"?) performance, in the sense that everything she had done previously basically prepared her for this singular event (even though she's doing things here she never did "in public" before). I get the same feeling from her 2019 live-in-concert performance of Adele's "When We Were Young" (not linking it here, since you don't need it - you'll get to it later). There's nothing particularly challenging about the song vocally, but she did it *so* friggin' well that it feels like a culmination of everything she had learned about singing live up to that point. Anyway, back to this song: at the same time, in an admittedly contradictory way, this is one of those "tentpole" performances of her career that seem to come out of nowhere, in which she makes a significant leap forward in some way (technically, artistically, whatever), and makes you think, "Where the hell did *that* come from?" She seems to do that at least once each year, and every time it's different. In this case, the "leap forward" wasn't in her vocal abilities, per se, but how freely she wielded them - or, more accurately, how far she pushed them. (Like I said [I'm pretty sure] when you first reacted to this, she never "went so hard" on a vocal ever again.) In other cases (which you haven't gotten to yet), it will be a new vocal style or a new genre, or whatever… Suffice it to say, as much as you may get "used to" hearing her voice, she is going to surprise you with it again and again. [grin]
He he he...I've seen it 100+ times and I'm still trying to square it with what used to think was reality. I've actually seen reactions/analysis of this performance done by professional voice coaches who never watched another Angelina performance. They just couldn't accept what they were seeing and blew it off as an aberration that was not sustainable. Others, like Rebecca Vocal Athlete, have reacted once or twice in a year and no more. Not sure why. Just like Dimash and Morissette (among others), Angelina is in a unique position to augment the lessons coaches are trying to get across to their students.
Many reactors are fickle creatures and go where the views are largest. The two examples you mention are typical, in that they are from fiercely nationalistic countries, with very large populations. I have watched and listened to the two singers you mention - although not often - but there are no surprised in their performances. This alone distinguishes Angelina. She is, to me, the most talented and versatile singer living today. she will be remembered when the others are long forgotten.
We will never get tired of this video! I think it was a good idea to react to it again. It is so much going on in this video, and its hard to get it all in first time. I'm not sure if I agree. She still continues to grow as an artist. Some of the stuff she did at 13 shows even more artistry than the stuff at 12. I have nothing, moon river, bohemian, above the water... all at 13, and all new and exciting directions.

To me, most of her performances fall into the "let's try this" category. She experiments with different musical styles, different voices, different types of performances, different musicians, different settings, etc. It feels like she is busking, testing herself and audience reaction, building up her musical knowledge and repertoire while honing her prodigious skill set. She is still training.

Actually Angelina’s growth occurred over a 5 year period from 7 to 12, now her artistry is set even though she still is able to sing any genre.
