The choir of King's College, Cambridge sing the Easter hymn, Ride On ! Ride On In Majesty. The choir are joined by the congregation of which there seems very few. The trebles sing a verse on their own as do the gentlemen before the trebles soar to a lovely descant during the final verse.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
Hark, all the tribes hosanna cry,
thy humble beast pursues his road
with palms and scattered garments strowed.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die,
O Christ thy triumph now begin
oer captive death and conquered sin.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
The winged squadrons of the sky
look down with sad and wondring eyes
to see the approaching sacrifice.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
Thy last and fiercest strife is nigh;
the Father on his sapphire throne
awaits his own anointed Son.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die;
bow thy meek head to mortal pain,
then take, O God, thy power and reign.
Henry Milman (1791-1868)
Palm Sunday 2024. God bless us all.
This is one of my favorite Palm Sunday hymns; this and Hosanna Loud Hosanna
Easy Sunday 2024 ❤❤❤..happy easter celebration!!!
This song makes me cry😢. This is the song sung at my teachers funeral. Yes my teacher died. So this is a happy sad song for me😢. Forevermore in heaven may you rest ms turek.
Never fails to uplift me, gives me hope despite the horrors and depravity we see in this fallen world.
Well said, I agree !
We have the eternal hope in Jesus who will one day set thus world right according to His will.
@@josparkes9087 The war in Ukraine reminds us how truly broken the world is! it doesn't matter if the savior faced brutal mortal death, our brothers in Ukraine have more than hope! eternal life!
This traditional Easter hymn, 'Ride On, Ride On In Majesty !', which commemorates Yeshua's or Jesus' entry into the Holy City of Jerusalem, City of King David of Israel, riding upon a donkey at the Passover almost 2,000 years ago, is extraordinarily beautiful and poignant ! I listen to this Easter hymn every year at this time and find it profoundly moving.... It is an absolute joy to listen to with the trebles of the boys alternating with the bases of the young men in the singing of each verse
God bless everyone on this Palm Sunday 2021!
And THIS one in 2022
😎😎😎
And on this one in 2023! Great is His faithfulness!!
Can't wait for Easter 2024!! Best day of the year ever!
Tomorrow will be psalm Sunday!! 2024
Today is palm Sunday 2024! Hallelujah to the befitting King-Jesus🙌
Amen, Nothng like these timeless hymns with such an amount of truth to the scriptures
Ride on, ride on, in majesty!
Hark! all the tribes hosanna cry.
0 Savior meek, pursue Thy road,
With palms and scattered garments strowed.
Ride on, ride on, in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die.
0 Christ, Thy triumphs now begin
O'er captive death and conquered sin.
Ride on, ride on, in majesty!
The angel armies of the sky
Look down with sad and wondering eyes
To see the approaching Sacrifice.
Ride on, ride on, in majesty!
Thy last and fiercest strife is nigh;
The Father on His sapphire throne
Expects His own anointed Son.
Ride on, ride on, in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die.
Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain.
Then take, 0 Christ, Thy power and reign.
Thank you
I well recall how our organist and choirmaster used to hammer into us the need not to sing Rideon, Rideon, but Ride on, Ride on. with a clear gap between the "ride" and the "on". No idea if we did or how it ultimately sounded, but this was 60 years ago at Christ Church in Clevedon, Somerset. God bless you, Reg Marks, you were great. Hope we were too.
Diction correctness aside, with that echo it would be a muddy mess!
One of the boldest final verses in any hymn "Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain, then take, O God, Thy power and reign!"
Yes! I heard this sung tonight in church in the US and that last line struck me as so powerful!
Have a blessed Palm Sunday everyone.
May you have a blessed Palm Sunday! Majestic hymn, well sung. Jesus Christ is Lord of all!
You too.
Amen.
A beautiful hymn for giving people serenity and introspection.
And the best performance ever!
It's actually a Palm Sunday hymn but it is a beautiful one!
We sang it on Palm Sunday today.
ANOTHER FANTASTIC HYMN SUNG BY A GREAT CHOIR
Americans are obsessed with national politics in this turbulent era when we could more profitably be learning how to praise and honor our eternal King. Hopefully soon we'll all realize that we're really Monarchists. Even so, Come LORD Jesus!
a majestic hymn for majesty
Palm Sunday. ✝️. Rip Kevin
How one can fail to be moved by such a hymn is beyond me
Blesses my soul🥲
Outstanding choir.
Sanctify this place with Thy word O Lord and we will give You praise and honour.
What a truly Blessed Hymn for today-- Palm Sunday I love this !
This is the best palm sunday hymn
Thank You. I have been used to hearing this hymn sung on Palm Sunday. For some reason my Anglican Church has not sung it the last two years. I am thankful that a rendition of it is available.
Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week; Easter/Resurrection Day is a week later.
Miss the Anglican Church of my Youth.
It gives you hope.
WHETHER ITS AN EASTER HYMN OR NOT DOESN`T MATTER, ITS A BEAUTIFUL HYMN SUNG VERY WELL BY THIS GREAT CHOIR.
Lovely! Very nice rendition. Two thumbs up to the organist!
When Bach sang as a boy in the Mettenchor in Lüneburg, he was listed on the payroll records as singing "Discantus", which relates to what the boys here were doing in the last verse!
We sing it every Palm Sunday in the Moravian Churches epically at Springfield moravian
Fantastic 🤩
Wonderful memories of this Palm Sunday hymn we sang in All Saints Church choir in Coonoor Nilgiris
Remember this my friends around the world . The entrance hymn ride on in Majesty our Lord and Saviour so humbly came to offer His life for our salvation.
All glory laud and honour to Thee Redeemer King.To whom the lips of children did sweet hosanna sing.
Remember us Lord and grant us your grace.
Wishing all a Blessed Palm Sunday.
May this day be one of blessings and miracles. Amen.🕊 ❤ 👼 💍 🌈 💫 🎶
One of the best hymns ever written.
Especially for Palm Sunday
You know, when I go to this place or up the street to John's, I just sink into it and forget all the bullshit arguments about religion/God/no God/my Bible/your translation/etc. and let the music take me.
Another great hymn from Kings`..Great work from the Choir boys.
This is the place to be for Festival Sundays and major Christian holidays....I had the privilege of attending the Service of 9 Lessons and Carols here in 2000.....what an incredible experience that I shall never forget.

This is so beautiful, it reminds me how wonderful our Lord is, such a brilliant Son Of Man made flesh for us. Better than all the chocolate or the best tasting things we all adore, and cant stop adoring for love of them !
Jo Sparkes Jesus is better than chocolate? Are you 3yrs old?
Muito bonito!!
Wonderful Palm Sunday hymn.
So long s King's keeps singing this beautiful hymn the world rides on. Happy Easter, 2017.
My husband is now made pure. I’ll stick with the new and let go of the old.
Hossanah in the highest
So moving and beautiful, to our Beloved Lord !
These beautiful hymns are now shelved for the trash we hear.
And I’m the head of the von trap family. Am I not ?
I'm sure we sang this to a different tune at school.
As the advent of Palm Sunday is upon us this brilliantly sung hymn is so appropriate' and this is so beautiful !!!!
Beautiful! Can anyone tell me whose arrangement this descant is?
Winchester New, the hymn is #64 in the 1940 hymnal (U.S.)

Happy Palm Sunday from Canada - my ex-pastor didn't know it was Palm Sunday a few years back - so sad the decline in leadership
To God be the glory for this Palm Sunday. Lord Jesus Ride On In Majesty in Every Heart Everywhere Today. Amen.
What beautiful moment. Yes you're right with the trebles, of course always clear and nice precision.
I greatly admire the organist, his style and performance !!! Reminds me of myself, in my college days..... Can anyone tell me if he has his own performance page on You Tube or Facebook, etc..... Thanks
Great choir keep on going I enjoy listening to you I'm from state of Michigan
Another palm Sunday , April 10 2022. May God bless everyone

Sublime!
Their buddy. The uws bestie. Another one bites the dust. Used and tossed. I’m still here. Lol.
So beautifully sung by this world famous choir !!!!!!!!!!!
***** Absolutely right, this is so beautiful and sacred and Heavenly, to our Lord. I love this.
You sacrificed him. Instead of Linzer.
a majestic hymn for majesty
@02Blackbeard
How brave and convenient you are, hiding behind a screen name. I'd be happy to call you that to your face. When, and where?
P.S. I don't even know who Jebus is.
This is a nice song that is really good for Palm Sunday. Or even as Lent is finishing.
Like my husband. Did. On Palm Sunday. Prophets
I couldn’t stay married to one knowing what I know. Cop or dr.
To see the approaching sacrifice. I guess he was sacrificed too.
This would be for Palm Sunday rather than Easter. :-)
My husband did. God of the prophets.
Don't worry,.... be happy. 😂
So beautiful, so beautiful !!!!!
Kan het nog mooier en beter gezongen worden? IK DENK VAN NIET. Blijft altijd mooi naar dit KINGS of Choir
What other song has this melody??
A beautiful hymn for Palm Sunday.
magnificently sung by this choir
@02Blackbeard err that, that is just stupid. It gets no-one nowhere, the most pointless thing you could have said. System is what creates success, I like regimentation and order; its the proper direction of things and a successful society. My view thats all
@02Blackbeard "... but, what if at the top of that pyramid sat you... and, being that you had so long ago given up on all those prayers you never noticed were answered, you did a shit job of delegating authority down the line?", he asked him.
"How can any man, who has with his brilliance, seen to give up on a personal god, still cry about police and states. Is this what becomes of 'god' killers... powerless, but for some words to rous the cattle?", asked another.
Somewhere, day broke.
Dont need a soul to make uw cry.
Worship music the way it SHOULD be played and sung! Not this touchy-feely “contemporary Christian” garbage like Hillsong and Michael W. Smith.
@02Blackbeard thats got nothing to do with religion, thats just anti-productive. I wont even pretend to tell you what to do, but thats some crazy shit talk
this is in memory of a dear friend the late RODGER SHAMBROOK WHO for a number of years was at ST SWITHENS. BRIDPORT DORSET.
Let’s see whose happy in the end.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
Hear all the tribes hosanna cry;
O Savior meek, pursue Your road
with palms and scattered garments stroked.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die.
O Christ, Your triumphs now begin
o’er captive death and conquered sin.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
The hosts of angels in the sky
look down with sad and wond'ring eyes
to see th'approaching Sacrifice.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
Your last and fiercest strife is nigh.
The Father on His sapphire throne
awaits His own anointed Son.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die,
bow Your meek head to mortal pain,
then take, O Christ, Your pow'r and
Amazing! Glory to God!
This hymn was given to me in dreams during easter this year . l was so busy with other things l even didnt know it was easter week. I also didnt know about this hymn then after that dream l came searching and realised its an easter hymn and just that moment l realised it was easter week. I dont know why l was given this song apart from just reminding me that its easter week. I ask God everyday that why
@02Blackbeard i dont look to religion to help me; I have my own countenance for that, but order is necessary and anarchy is NOT order.
I love this. Beautifully done. Just one bit of constructive criticism: the last reverberation is cut off when the recording was edited. I was enjoying the echoing sound emitted from that space, only to find it cut off prematurely.
@02Blackbeard what, singing religious hymns at an Eastertide service, broadcast on national television for the enjoyment of others?
Who are the 25 heathens who gave this a thumbs down? They must be deaf in one ear and non-hearing in the other.
... and probably nothing inbetween! ;)
