So, the merch website wasn't making enough with $80 hoodies, $40 tees, and $45/$125 "mystery boxes"? The 13k+ subscribers on your ACTIVE Patreon, with a minimum of $5/month donations (and higher tiers of $10/month, $25/month, and $100/month)? The monetization of your RUclips (2.85 million subs), Instagram (489k followers), and Twitter (248k followers) accounts? The ongoing, sold-out tour shows? The podcast profits? NONE of that was enough? Instead, you felt obligated, for the sake of production quality, to add another streaming service that you want your audience to juggle? Solely for "exclusive" content?
Your apology video doesn't break these costs down, either. You need to be FULLY transparent if you want even a sliver of your fans to consider subscribing to something like this.

That's so much worse than I thought lol I'm not too familiar with these guys, and I was like why don't they try something like Patreon first?
They rent a whole building in Los Angeles, have to pay their 20 aprox people on their stuff, have to pay them healthcare insurance, have to pay flight tickets for their crew and them when filming outside LA, have to pay a pre-production agency, post production agency, have to pay for some locations permits to film, filming gear, food for those travels and these last things are for one video only...... I've never heard of these guys before but some people in their community can't understand the huge quantity of money their videos cost. However I still think they made bad moves on a this and they should have partner with an existing platform.

one person who knows what they're doing after leaving BF I can think of is Safiya Nygaard, she was one of the first to leave BF, she's also making travel and food content, her videos have good production quality, she doesn't have 25 people on staff, pays attention to what her audience wants and not pulling this kind of bs

Relatable. I didn’t eat the day this video came out. I make sure my animal’s are fed before me and because of one minor unforeseen expense, that’s how things had to be. After buying their cat food, I had 37 cents in my account until I got paid the next day. Talk about living paycheck to paycheck, lol 😅🥴. Too many people can relate to this, unfortunately.

That shot at 6:45 is so overproduced I could cry. If you know about cameras, they are using 30k of gear to get that one 1/3 of a second shot of a hand lifting a phone set. Then there's the set itself, which is entirely custom build, and the crew, safety, etc. Yikes.

A few knee-jerk reaction points: 1 - It sounds like there are significant internal problems if your company is struggling to pay staff an equitable wage. That should not be taken out on viewers, you can't seriously expect people to foot the bill for your brand's financial problems or mismanagement. 2 - I make less than $16/hour and half my wage is spent on a 1-bedroom apartment in a small city with very few amenities. 3 - I financially support loved ones who are disabled, or who are lost to depression, or have car repairs they can't afford, and I'm still not asking someone who likes listening to me to cover any of that shit. That's MY shit to cover. I like your content, but I can no longer trust this brand or your character.

I hope the lesson you have learned is that we don't prefer or want the expensive videos. Buzzfeed was low budget and the best you've done.
Basically this is the way I see it think of this as a teacher telling you “oh it’s only a hour of homework” (only $6 a month) all the while you have four or five other teachers giving you a hour worth of homework (Netflix,Hulu,prime,patrion and any other subscription/streaming service)

There's rumors of Disney shutting down disney+ because it isn't sustainable. For a RUclips channel to be come its own streaming platform, it will definitely not be sustainable
@@_meadow_23 All of these streaming services are not sustainable. They need to go back to the old days when it was just Netflix and Amazon and put all the content on those two. Basically do a Steam. The problem is that with everyone trying to do their own service it dilutes the content and no one wants to subscribe to 10+ different services, they will do 2 or 3 at most.

This is the first time that I ever heard of this channel. Which goes to show how massively big RUclips is in terms of available content.
Not knowing the details, what exactly is keeping them from setting up a Patreon and depending on that to keep things outta the red?
Or do they just wanna break away to hopefully start a brand new company where they get to make it big?
Like I said before, I never heard of any of them before (I found out through reddit about them doing this). So I wonder how they expect to make it big if the wider world doesn't know who they are?
EDIT: I just found out that they do have a Patreon. And that it has a large amount of supporters there. And that they also have SPONSORS. And other sources of revenue. I'm sorry but these guys are just being super greedy.

For everyone saying “calm down, it’s just $6” and complaining that people just want everything for free… I don’t think you realize how many of us are ALREADY supporting them on Patreon, purchasing their Merch, attending their live events. We aren’t doing that for free, we are already committing our hard-earned dollars to support this channel, and this is a slap in the face.
And for those viewers who aren’t on Patreon, we aren’t ASKING them to pay thousands of dollars on top-notch graphics and elaborate sets. Many of us started watching back then they were on Buzzfeed, with a modest little set, a couple of chairs, and creepy mannequin in the corner. We were fine with it, we watched Ryan and Shane for them, not their production quality. In all the years I’ve been subscribed, I’ve never seen anyone complain “but why don’t you have more fancy graphics???”
So pining their troubles on financial issues, honestly that’s a Them Issue. They started their business, they need to figure out how to manage their budget. Whether that is laying off employees (admittedly a tough call) or cutting episodes, or trimming a series or two, or just slashing the budget on effects, they need to hire a Financial Advisor to help them manage their money better, that is for THEM to figure out, and frankly it is just inconsiderate to put that financial burden on their audience, especially when we have done so much to support them already.
And let’s not forget, if you are Subscribed, Liking their Videos, or even just adding to their View Count, you ARE supporting them. You are the reason Advertisers are interested in them, you are the reason they can monetize their channel. You are doing all that anyone has any right to ask of you. Their financial woes are not your responsibility to fix.

I know my experience is not universal but I have gone two winters without heat because I could not afford it, so no, anyone and everyone cannot afford this.
Ive gone three years without a working ac in my car and I live in Georgia where the summer heat OUTSIDE the car gets to around 110. Trust me if I could afford the $1605 bill to fix it I would have looong ago.
Yeah, there's a lot I'm willing to give up to keep electricity on, gas in my car, food on the table. I can't justify $6 a month for something that doesn't have a ton of content. Paramount+ is literally the same price but tons more stuff.
I love Watcher and the Ghoul Boys, but this is just going to become The Bravest Warriors/Cartoon Hangover all over again.

I can an afford it but the real question is why would I pay for it? These guys aren’t Netflix. They don’t have the shows nor production that warrants us paying a subscription fee. Plus last time I checked Netflix doesn’t have a Patreon that is still active and running concurrently.

@@gianlucagallegos5153 i’m referring to midroll ads, which i got two of during this video. four in total - one in the beginning, end, and then two in the middle. under ten minutes, you can’t input midroll ads (which give you more revenue).

If they're going to die on this hill of their new subscription crap, they should at least adjust prices like Netflix does. I'm American and my Netflix for standard with no ads is $15/month, I moved to north Africa for three years and when I logged in it said Netflix there was half the price for standard with no ads. I tried to switch with no luck to save some money. My point is, screw their subscription, but if they're going to screw everyone over, they should adjust pricing for international fans. Then again, they're not this huge corporation like Netflix though, so either way they lose.
