    Decency doesn't support genocide

    • @coolioso808
      @coolioso808 Месяц назад

      The ruling elite, and their defenders, hide behind words they have polluted with their despicable actions. They say "journalism is not a crime" while Julian Assange is still detained for exposing US war crimes. They say 'decency' but they are agents to genocide. They say democracy but we live in a capitalist run world where the rich buy elections and mega corporations to control just about everything.
      We are in a MAD HOUSE. We need to take it down and in its place build a new foundation that is viable, socially, economically and ecologically just, sustainable and healthy.
      We can, but we have to be in solidarity and know the paths that are available to us. Take the "Beyond Growth" panel from Kate Raworth to Jason Hickel, they all have data and proposals. Take Michael Tellinger with Ubuntu Contributionism: A Blueprint for Human Prosperity or Peter Joseph with The New Human Rights Movement and Zeitgeist: Requiem coming out soon.
      We don't hear about the real change makers from mainstream corporate news, no surprise, but they are out there. Be aware!

    Not every comedian is Stephen Colbert, Hasan Minhaj, or Michelle Wolfe (haha; she broke the dinner, and Trump probably went home crying in his tie). They have no f's to give, and they let loose like crazy. Most comedians push some jokes, then smooth edges with the press and POTUS present. Che would likely push a LOT harder; Jost is the straight man on SNL, and he's known as someone who builds bridges. He definitely wanted to encourage people to vote for Biden. It's not for everyone, just as the edgier comics aren't for everyone. The comics aren't journalists; those sitting at the tables are, though. Is it THEY who should be pushing the issues hard.

    One skill that comedians have, that is not as important to someone alone in a room with a microphone, is the ability to read the room. Sometimes a person has to do the job they were hired to do, which Jost appears to have done. He was not there to make people uncomfortable; the protesters outside were there for that purpose. David should deliver this stern and self-righteous monologue while in line at a Wendy's to understand the limits of expressing one's perceived moral clarity regardless of the social situation.

    This is such a complicated and interwoven issue which makes it difficult to have a clear viewpoint and any one particular point.
    I would not be that critical of Colin Jost's remarks as you were in this video.
    He is pointing out that Biden is in line with much of democratic due process as opposed to Trump who by comparison is not. He is not speaking to the Gaza issue, which admittedly is a black mark on Biden's record, but in my view a separate issue from what was being talked about. Trump would be even more pro-Israel and less sympathetic toward the Palestinian fate, although possible with the same outcome.
    I think that the very delicate and tricky job of public commentators and activists now is to leverage common points amongst dissident groups to achieve desired outcomes.
    It seems that almost no one is in favor of Palestinians being decimated, and it seems that no one, or very few are anti-semetic, yet no one agrees on anything and everyone is putting a lot of energy into defaming the others.

      Why would the people who didn't protect Roe v Wade, suddenly start protecting Roe v Wade? They gave away two supreme court seats. Ginsburg was 80 years old and riddled with tumors and as her last gift gave Trump another justice.
      And what are the democrats currently doing? Increasing the powers of the office of the president, for Donald Trump when he gets into office. They're just as responsible for the forthcoming nuking of Palestine/war with Iran as the republicans are.
