I also wanna add how stans call english speaking idols cringe simply for speaking english when korean idols literally say cringey things all the time and nobody bats an eye. One example is Keeho from p1harmony that has been called cringe so many times just for joking around, but when other idols say the same things in korean nobody says anything. There’s such a double standard!
It really is crazy what happened to yunjin. Kpop stans started having crazy expectations about her after that comment about changing the industry and i knew from that moment that it was all going to go downhill. If you put someone so high on a pedestal it’s inevitable sooner or later they’re going to fall down and the higher you are the further you fall.
I think that we need to consider the fact that yunjin probably had the mentality that she could change the industry due to her being a rookie that didn't understand the full extent of why the industry had been so hard to change until she experienced it herself. It's like how when we were younger, we were always told that we could be anything that we want to be or the change that we want to be until we realise in adulthood that sometimes are passions don't align with our ability to put a roof over our heads if we don't already come from a well off background or there's just naturally a conflict of interest in what we want to do morally but have to do to succeed. So, I don't blame Yunjin for the fact that all she could do is spread awareness and hope that her messages are heard by people because, like everyone, she's trapped in a system that's bigger than herself.
they addicted to him so bad. this man has no chance to avoid a massive hate train from his own fans for being in love, having relationships. even if they deny this now. I respect Chan, but watching his and skz interactions with fans.. umm
THIS. I’ve been trying to say this for ages. Whenever an idol does something wrong it’s either, “They speak English they should know” or “they don’t speak English so they shouldn’t be called out”. Sometimes it’s literally concerning a worldwide issue as well. (Note: if an idol genuinely doesn’t speak any English and says an English word they didn’t know the meaning of, that’s fine. But people hold idols who do speak English to an entirely different standard)
Bang Chan's relation with stay always felt really innapropriate with me, both sides feel confortable with each other to the point Chan got the hate for sharing the story of the group that didn't greet him. People who defend this kind of relationship with idols need a reality check tbh
he's definitely partially responsible because he shouldn't get too comfortable and over-share things with his fans. what he said about the group not bowing wasn't wrong in itself, because he's allowed to share how he feels, but knowing the fandom would twist his words, he should have just shut up
@@soft4taeng how could he know he thinks a bit too innocent to half stay twisted heart you can't really blame him, he didn't gave names or anything he just shared his experience and if it would be a goood experience y'all would praise him for being one of the few idols that ae honest also boy worked so hard to get where at he is with his group todaay just for his fans to do that kind of stuff? he's an idol for sure but the only and i repeat the only reason for idols getting bashed when they speak up about something is us, the fans not specifically you or me but the fandom for being hypocrite and trying to find drama when will we go back to when fans could be "close" to the idol without doing weird shit like stays did with the chan's room removal incident almost everything is our fault why are companies releasing "trash " songs for groups with talented members? because fans are obsessed with numbers and don't care about the music anyomore at all so it's an easy cash grab but this is a different issue i'm just saying that we should first look at ourself than the idol because the idol doesn't owe the fans anything

omg its my ever first time seeing video about this topic. Because i legit thought i was the only one. You explained it so well and said exactly what i thought😧 This topic is a real problem imo😐 fans treat them automatically like "friends" and acting like korean speakers are close minded and don't even know trends in tiktok. as they do under any funny tiktok eveyone says "it was def (any english speaking memeber) idea"
You're so right, it's annoying how when some members do something fun people automatically assume it was the english speaking idol's idea to to that. On the other hand, if a member does something problematic, stans act as if the english speaking idol should have taught them better. For example just a couple of days ago, kpop stans were blaming p1harmony's keeho for "not educating" one of the other members who had an inappropriate hair style...
Wait, really? I didn’t see anything about the P1h issue. But you’re right-just because a member’s first language is English doesn’t mean they’re any different. They’re still human beings, and telling them to "educate" others is stupid. They tend to speak more informally and joke around, but fans often cross the line and forget that they’re not friends, they’re idols. I still can’t comprehend the amount of hate Yunjin has received. The level of toxicity and outright bullying she’s endured is beyond me. People were ripping her apart in the comments like crazy, even though just recently everyone was praising her. It’s as if she did something really horrible! They really need to take a second look at themselves.
I think another important part is that a lot of these fans live vicariously through these idols, ESPECIALLY in the cases of Yunjin and Chanelle. In their minds in a sense, they can pretend to be them or see them as a character in a tv show. However, when they do something they don’t agree with, that projected illusion is broken and easily replaced with vitriol. It’s like they can’t believe this idol would **personally** betray them like this. It creates this unwarranted vendetta.
Tbh, I absolutely love Chan, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen an idol be as open with fans as him. I’m absolutely chill with him oversharing and ranting to us if he feels comfortable doing so ; but the sad thing is that in every fandom there always exists that one set of fans who are toxic af and always take undue advantage of Chan sharing his experiences openly. They twist his words and use it to blatantly hate other artists with them. It’s disgusting but we know it we can’t stop them. So unfortunately, Chan has to maintain boundaries. Also, because Chan is very flirtatious and delusional, sometimes even more than the fans themselves 😂, STAYS know that he’s gonna take inappropriate requests from fans well, that’s why they feel no compunction about asking him to do those things (like the calling stays babygirls and the iconic “can you pin me up against a wall”..) while they’d never dare ask maybe Lee Know or someone do do those same things 💀.

ive in particular felt a bit limited by their concept originally: something that's definitely shifted in recent comebacks! as a dive i'll never forget the silly hate trains started towards them as rookies. i think a lot of the i-fans' hatred started precisely because ive has a more korea-focused concept and marketing strategy, which is hard to understand. videos and posts accused members of being cold or mean despite no one implying the same towards other groups that better fit the things about kpop western fans like more (ex. "authenticity" rather than perfection). i don't think this is an opportunity to call english speaking idols silly or dumb: we all know they have their own struggles that come with actively promoting in korea and living in a foreign country. calling out the double standards some stans have is enough.
I personally think it’s mostly English speaking countries. I am from Latin America and here we have a different cultural approach. But yeah, most English speaking idols are seen as more intelligent, mature and with higher morals
