THANK YOU for leaving in the comparison for us! You wouldn’t believe the difference without seeing it! Yes! The softer edge does give it a more playful look! I loved how the white embossed words popped on the blue, adding to the softer- more playful look! ☔️💙☔️
I love these! One of the reasons I so enjoy watching @SandyAllnock1 is because she's such a genius at contrast. Many artists I watch are good - very good - but the willingness to embrace contrast, even sometimes stark contrast, really elevates artwork from good to great. I always love your coloring but today's is so so good! ❤️🐱
I love the second card. "Perfect" was my immediate reaction to it when you had finished it. The first one, though very nice, seems a bit chaotic, which, however would be appropriate if you were trying to convey a stormy rainy day. In fact, in the first card, you get the feeling that the umbrella is going to carry the little kitty away in the storm.
Thanks so much for doing 2 cards and incorporating what you learned from the 1st into the 2nd. It's inspiring and humbling to see this in a video from an extremely talented artist. It definitely provided a lot of encouragement to me in my card making. 😊💓🌈 I struggle sometimes when I spend a lot of time on a new design/technique and the end result isn't up to my standards...I have a hard time restarting, feeling as if I wasted my time. A fellow artist friend of mine asked me if I learned something from the process and if the answer was yes, then it's never a waste of time. That really resonated with me. Thank you for providing a video that demonstrates the real-life creative process! I never knew that alcohol markers could be used on top of ink blending. That looks awesome! Thanks so much Kristina for bringing your amazing creativity, knowledge and happiness to the card making community, it really means a lot!! 😊💓
First of all, Sandy Allnock is amazing. She has the heart of a teacher. Second, I think my choice would be a hybrid of the two. I like the drama of the first card and the white lettering of the second. I’m so going to try that technique to make rain. (Umbrellas are one of my favorite motifs.)
I love the bright coat in the stormy card. It allows the cat to stand out. The saying is the only thing I would change for that card. Storms can come into all of our lives but an umbrella can be there to help. The puddle playing card is perfect. I'm glad you made that card so you were happy with getting onto paper the image that was in your mind. Very cool to see the outcome of the two cards and the process that changed a storm into fun.
I love, love, love both of these cards I prefer the second. Like you said, not as dramatic. Also, your horizon line is more realistic. Adding the white drops behind and in front of the cat, really incorporate them into the scene. Using the angle-cut piece of cardstock for a guide is genius!!! ❤
Love the softer edge one, but also love how you drew the storm on the first one. I actually like the umbrella placement on the 1st one as it looks like kitty is battling the storm, but the sentiment doesn't "match".
They are both remarkable. On the first card with the way the umbrella is, it goes with the blustery scene. The second one with the umbrella upright makes it more fun and softer.
I love both, they show different aspects of a rainy day, one more blustery than the other! (1st one) which could quite easily depict a rainy Autumnal day, where the 2nd looks more like a spring shower! Did love LOVE the blending of the inks before adding the texture, it gave a great base to work on. This has given me some great ideas for some of my work, so thank you so much for showing us both examples. BOTH work so well!!
Kristina, never knew you could do rain with alcohol markers, you really have a way with those markers, my oh my, I have learned a lot from this tutorial, tfs. Blessings. Love thr stamp set, perfect for many occasions. Fingers Crossed.❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Oh, these are both awesome! But I definitely like the second one better than the first. The rain looks better on the second one. You created realistic rain!!! On both cards. So awesome. Thanks for showing us your process. You are so creative.
I really like both versions. I think my preference would change based on MY mood on a given day and who I was sending the card to. Thanks for leaving in both (or all three versions with the coloring you didn't like) and explaining your thought process.
I loved both cards !! I love how the water looks on the rain puddle in the 2nd card, but the first one is more dramatic …lol. Poor kitten is totally shaken in the water 😂😂😂. You are great and you make your job looks easy but it’s from a master designer, totally YOU ❤
SO SO interesting to hear you talk your way through it to come to the improvements and Yes I do prefer the second card. But I like the brighter yellow slicker in the first. I might have tried silver glitter pen on the white rain -- but maybe that would have wrecked it!
i can't believe how you figured all of this out and kept trying to get it exactly how you wanted it. I actually like the blustery version because it is more representative of the crazy storms we have had this year in California! Thanks for the inspiration and for the chance to win that adorable set.
I love the second card and the soft edges. Also the words in white look great with the white raindrops. Great stamp set and I learned so much from this video!
That was smart of you to make an angle templet to show the angle of the rain. I agree with you I like both effects of the card, the softer background makes it less intense of rain! Either way a wonderful card! thanks for sharing both versions.
I love them both! But the way you created the background for the second card, that was amazing! Thank you for sharing the whole process. You teach in such a way so it is easy to understand and want to try to duplicate. Just love it and Mama Elephant!!
Growing up in Washington, the rainy days were never the same! Some days it was blustery and chaotic like the first card, other days it was more of a soft and gentle rain like the second card! I like the second one but still love the first one! Learned a lot from you Kristina! Thank you for sharing your skills and talent and those of other artists you pull inspiration from!❤
I like the second card as it matches the greeting in playfulness - the first card is more dramatic - also with the umbrella being at an angle it seems as if the wind in going to tug it from the cat grasp 😄☔️
I love them both. The first looks more like she’s in a rain storm and she’s holding in to her umbrella for dear life!! Like she’s going to blow away! The other one looks more playful. I think they are both fabulous. As always you do amazing work. Thanks. Take care ❤️
Love this card and appreciate that you show both ways you created it as well as the tips you provide. I like the second softer look for the background.
As you stated in your video, both scenes are great. My favourite is the softer toned one, which is perfect for a normal rainy day. The first one does remind me of a storm so having the umbrella look like it might blow away is fantastic. Either one would be awesome for any recipient! 😊
Those are so adorably cute! 🥰 I really liked both of the rainy backgrounds. The first one would be neat with a touch of purple in it as well. Thanks for your explanations on what you were doing and the shadow image.
Such a great tutorial on how to make good-looking raindrops. I love the second card with the less intense sky and the more defined look of the raindrops. Such a cute card. I learned a lot from this one. Thanks for sharing your process.
Beautifully cute cards! I love the horizon idea it makes it come alive. Both cards are amazing but I had to pick I prefer the softer one on the right by a smidge 😊. I liked the first umbrella you did with the lighter colour underneath because it gave the best definition ❤❤❤
This is such an inspiring video! I love rain scenes and umbrellas, and these stamps are adorable! I actually liked the first version the most, but both are fantastic! And I learned so much from both techniques. Thank you for sharing this!
These are just so cute. Normally i'm a bright and sunshiny kinda gal, but i just loved the 2nd one, it really jumps off the page. The under ink blending really gave it more dimension it just really worked. The light one is good too, but the darker one just tugs at me. Thank you so much for sharing this technique with us. :)
I actually like the 2nd one best. They both look great, but I prefer the softer look of #2. I really like the horizon line which I've never tried before.
I think the second card is more dramatic and colorful. The new technique of the ruler for the diagonal rain was something I wouldn’t have thought of for the rain. Both are amazing cards. You never cease to amaze me. ❤
I think both your card came out absolutely beautiful. Love that you demonstrated using the makers and ink. I am just starting and have limited supplies. I think the sentiment hit home to some our daily life. Thank you so much for sharing this detailed video.
I prefer the second card. The color strokes in the first card pull the attention away from the central figure and . . . diminish the kitty. Although a little longer, this video is not a chore to watch. Listening to you work through your design process, letting us see what you like or don’t like & why, and more importantly, persisting to perfect the card is valuable indeed! Thanks for sharing!
I like the first one, but the second one I LOVE. I think the first one has the feeling of a much darker day, which, let's face it, some of our rainy days are. You are such an amazing artist. Thank you for sharing your creativity! ❤
I love them both, but the 2nd card is the win for me! I love the rainy scene on the first card, but the embossed card base is a distraction. Thanks for going through the process. Wish I had just a tiny bit of your creative talent. Love your videos.
THANK YOU for leaving in the comparison for us!
You wouldn’t believe the difference without seeing it!
Yes! The softer edge does give it a more playful look!
I loved how the white embossed words popped on the blue, adding to the softer- more playful look!

Really liked that first card, until I saw the second! Seemingly subtle differences make such a huge impact!
Both are beautiful!

I learned something new today. I am amazed at how the horizon line makes the whole scene look. Just looks amazing.
Kristina: “if I was a cat, in a raincoat, I probably wouldn’t have a cat umbrella...” 😹😹😹
I love, love, love both of these cards
I prefer the second. Like you said, not as dramatic. Also, your horizon line is more realistic. Adding the white drops behind and in front of the cat, really incorporate them into the scene. Using the angle-cut piece of cardstock for a guide is genius!!! ❤
I love them both. They turned out so well. My favorite is the second card. It's softer and looks like a rain storm that you would play in
Love the softer edge one, but also love how you drew the storm on the first one. I actually like the umbrella placement on the 1st one as it looks like kitty is battling the storm, but the sentiment doesn't "match".

The second one is perfect! Interesting how the markers softened the ink blending
Loved both of them but the second was my fav. You also made me laugh so hard with “i wouldnt choose a cat umbrella” ❤
Both are great. The first puts me in mind of our weather, the rain and Wind! Thanks for show this, first time I've been so engrossed in coloring.
What a fantastic lesson! Both cards are amazing - slightly leaning toward the second card. Thank you for sharing.
I love the addition of the blended background on the 2nd one and the umbrella colors too; I appreciate the lessons from both!
I really like both versions. I think my preference would change based on MY mood on a given day and who I was sending the card to. Thanks for leaving in both (or all three versions with the coloring you didn't like) and explaining your thought process.
I loved them both!
But seeing them side by side, I prefer the gentleness of #2! I enjoy all your videos!
I love the first attempt. The second one is good also, but the first one attracts the eye more
I loved both cards !! I love how the water looks on the rain puddle in the 2nd card, but the first one is more dramatic …lol. Poor kitten is totally shaken in the water 😂😂😂. You are great and you make your job looks easy but it’s from a master designer, totally YOU ❤
I definitely like the second card. Thanks for not giving up and also for recording both. I love them!
Don't make me choose! I love them both. So cool. Thank you so much for sharing your process with us all. I'm always in awe of what you do.
SO SO interesting to hear you talk your way through it to come to the improvements and Yes I do prefer the second card. But I like the brighter yellow slicker in the first. I might have tried silver glitter pen on the white rain -- but maybe that would have wrecked it!
Love how you’ll keep trying until it pleases you!
I love the second card. I think the background is more realistic.
Both cards are great, but your second one just pops that bit more! Thanks Kristina.
i can't believe how you figured all of this out and kept trying to get it exactly how you wanted it. I also think the white sentiment made all the difference. ❤
I like the second card as it matches the greeting in playfulness - the first card is more dramatic - also with the umbrella being at an angle it seems as if the wind in going to tug it from the cat grasp 😄☔️
I really like both of your cards! But I have to agree that 2nd card is my favorite of the two!!!❤️
These are wonderful. I prefer the 2nd. I think it captures the playing in the puddles idea better.
What a sweet card! Just love it - and I know there have been LOTS of times (lately!!) when I need to be reminded to play in the puddles...
I love them both. The first looks more like she’s in a rain storm and she’s holding in to her umbrella for dear life!! Like she’s going to blow away! The other one looks more playful. I think they are both fabulous. As always you do amazing work. Thanks. Take care ❤️
The second one definitely looks cleaner. I think I like it better. Great technique for rain.
I like the second card the best. They’re both very cute but I like the colors on the second card.
They are ❤ cards, Kristina. I like both, but my favorite is the soft blended background. Thank you 😊.
I really like the second card. You have a real gift for blending.
I really like all the white space around the rain.
Both are adorable, I agree the second is more playful
Both are fabulous, but I think I prefer the playfulness and softness of your second attempt.
I like the one with the ink blending in the background. It does give it a softer look.
Those are so adorably cute! 🥰 I really liked both of the rainy backgrounds. The first one would be neat with a touch of purple in it as well. Thanks for your explanations on what you were doing and the shadow image.
Kristina, thank you for this tutorial. I love the 2nd card best but the are both so creative. I enjoyed watching you create them!
Such a great tutorial on how to make good-looking raindrops. I love the second card with the less intense sky and the more defined look of the raindrops. Such a cute card. I learned a lot from this one. Thanks for sharing your process.
Such a cute stamp set. I like the softness of the second card.
Beautifully cute cards! I love the horizon idea it makes it come alive. Both cards are amazing but I had to pick I prefer the softer one on the right by a smidge 😊. I liked the first umbrella you did with the lighter colour underneath because it gave the best definition ❤❤❤
Both cards are so cute but I really like card #2 with the softer background - beautiful!🤗
I really like them both but the second one just seems happier! Your cards are fabulous ❤
Both beautiful cards but the second one really stands out as fun. Love hearing your thoughts on the process as you go.
I like both cards and enjoyed your thought process. Great technique for the rain drops. Thanks for all you do in the crafting world.
These are both oh so cute! I personally like the softer blended version. Thanks for sharing your thought process and techniques Kristina ❤
Absolutely FABULOUS! The recipient of this card should truly appreciate the heartfelt thought that went into the creation of this work of art!
I love both cards but like the second one best. Thank you for the chance to win the stamp and die set!
I LOVE both of these cards! Thank you so much for the instruction on how to do this! 😍👍🙏
This is such an inspiring video! I love rain scenes and umbrellas, and these stamps are adorable! I actually liked the first version the most, but both are fantastic! And I learned so much from both techniques.
Thank you for sharing this!
Both are great, however, I feel the softer look of the second one works better with the whimsical scene. Great tutorial on creating rain!
OMG kitty is so cute. Both cards are gorgeous. TY
Love long videos!! Feels like we get to spend more time with you!
Beautifully done. I think this is one of my favorite cards. Loved them both but the second one pops and is my favorite. 😊
Love these cards and the bases! So “springy” and creative! 💕
I like the softer look but I’m glad you show us both of them. 😊
I like both cards but probably the smoother 2nd card! Thank you for sharing!
I actually like the 2nd one best. They both look great, but I prefer the softer look of #2. I really like the horizon line which I've never tried before.
Love the second card better with the soft edges. Great job!!😊
I think the second card is more dramatic
and colorful. The new technique of the ruler for the diagonal rain was something I wouldn’t have thought of for the rain. Both are amazing cards. You never cease to amaze me. ❤
They are both fantastic, but I like the softer look of the second more.
I think both your card came out absolutely beautiful. Love that you demonstrated using the makers and ink. I am just starting and have limited supplies. I think the sentiment hit home to some our daily life. Thank you so much for sharing this detailed video.
Have a weakness for umbrella scenes - umbrellas filled with flowers, rain, shine (in TX used for shade in the worst of summer) so love this card
I absolutely love the 2nd card! ☔️
I love these both! I think the 2nd I love a little more though... the ink blending is just the touch I think it needed! ♡
I love the softer edge one for a card like this but I still like the look of the first one.
Very cool card.I love the second card the dark card stock to me frames it better as well. I want this stamp set so cute💜💜 ☔️
i liked the softer look with the white embossed text
Softer for sure with this scene 💙
If I had to choose, it would be the softer look. They both look great.
Love them both! Genius using card stock to create the horizon line!
Love seeing the process. I really like the second one. But it was great to see and hear how you went through the process.
Love! I’m drawn to the second card more but both are fabulous!!!
2nd card looks more playful. Love both though! Thank you!
I definitely like the second one better. Beautiful job!
Absolutely darling. Love how you created the rain background 💙
Just heard your question on which background we look. I think I prefer the softer background, 2nd creation. 😊
Beautiful cards. Thank you for sharing your process in creating shadows and rain. It is very helpful
This made me want to try to color rain! Great job and really like how you showed the process of it all. I prefer the 2nd card but they're both great!
I like the softer one, The rain whispers rather than thumps.
I like the second one with the blending first and using the angled paper for consistency.
