      The closest we ever had to that was double dash, there was no solo campaign for each character but each character had an exclusive item. Which was a great touch as it gave you a reason to pick other characters. That’s until you win mirror star cup of course, because king boo and petey piranha have every item

    What I think we need:
    Story mode - as big as possible, maybe a brand new villain
    Less crossover characters - there’s like 50 mario characters already that are fan favourites in the games, so adding a bunch of characters from other games would be overshadowed by the amount of Mario
    Wonderflower mechanics - wacky 3rd laps?
    15 player races - having 15 racers at once adds to more chaos, and we still have the classic get 60 points to win

  • @blueseclipse725
    @blueseclipse725 Год назад +3

    My thoughts for the next Mario Kart:
    Campaign Mode - see Diddy Kong Racing for inspiration
    Specialized Items - have items specific to certain sets of characters, but also include some items that are specific to certain tracks or groups of tracks
    Unique item interactions with tracks - Have some items that can cause specific effects on a track, either in addition to or replacing their current effects.
    Team Racing - Have a setup where you've got teams of 2, 3 or 4 racers competing for a cumulative top score. Would also work well with things like drafting, and possibly allow the team to select a 'team item' that replaces the character-specific items
    Dynamic Courses - Have course changes that are triggered by specific actions, which can modify the course for future laps (or future runs of that course, in campaign mode)
    More options - lap count, items, and course state should all be customizable
    Anti-Gravity - Make better use of this. Right now, most courses just use it as 'hey, your track now goes up a wall', with no change to how the race functions. Give us stuff like the cylinders in F-Zero X where you need to come out of it on the right side or get flung off the course, spots where you can swap gravity by hitting some jumps, and give us items that can interact with the antigravity mechanic more.

    Here is what I would love for Mario Kart.
    Title: maybe SUPER Mario Kart Double Dash or something like that.
    Customization: customization for each combination of characters and vehicles should be different from others, having their own unique parts to choose from. No two combination sets being alike. Each two characters get a variety of parts and paint jobs to choose from.
    Coins: Still function in the racing like in 7 and 8, but also, all the coins you collect in the race will also be used as currency to buy more parts and paint jobs.
    Courses: Like in 7 and 8, but also maybe add in eventually almost if not all the courses from all past games. And maybe some courses if not all of them go through changes during races
    Special Items: Special items should return. Like the bros' fireball bursts and Bowser's giant shell and maybe new special items for each character like Mario having a cape feather to fly over everyone and gain a good boost in speed. But it would only last shortly or til you slam the ground blowing away all around you. X3
    Stats: Stats should also be able to be tweeked some after you select your vehicle parts. Like say if you want to reduce your weight for the sake of more handling or your traction for better acceleration. But only a limited amount to keep the game balanced.
    We don't want the speedy cool vehicles like b dasher and P wing to suffer like they did in 8 Deluxe
    Trophies: For More difficult classes you finish and win, the trophies should get bigger, shinier and more detailed.
    And If you get a perfect score in a cup, instead of a gold trophy, you oughta get a SHINY SPARKLY FANCY DETAILS PLATINUM TROPHY.
    Most importantly, it needs to have all karts bikes mtvs and combos worthy of being awesome in competitive online.
    Speed vehicles being REALLY speedy to make up for low acceleration. And MAYBE a decent mini turbo in case they get slammed alot.
    Also keep 200cc and all cup tour

    THEY SHOULD ADD EITHER:
    PIT STOPS. So basically your kart actually takes damage when hit etc, and as a result starts to slow down (not dramatically, more like the difference of 0-10 coins) the strategy would then involve going down a pit lane (f-zero style where you maybe done actually have to stop) but whereby you go a longer route to “fix” your kart. So you’d need to decide whether to keep pushing in the fast lane on a slower kart, or go the longer pit stop route to get your kart back up to max speed.

    WONDER FLOWERS. Last lap, transform into a completely alternate course or maybe transition completely into a new course Smash Bros Ultimate style.

Once someone gets it, the star appears somewhere else. Winner has the most stars at the end of the round. Karts race over to the star across any terrain or any route they want. Items slightly change to allow warping, swapping positions with other players, changing the map like opening and closing access points, such as drawbridges, etc. In short, an open map instead of a set track, and gameplay adapted to that idea.

    I really think some kind of Diddy Kong Racing adventure mode is a must. It's silly that they've gone this long without even trying to add anything like that, as you said, closest we got was the mission modes in Mario Kart DS, which themselves never came back after that game.
    As for the Roster, the only reason why I want "Smash Kart" to happen ( under a name that lets them keep brand identity, seeing as how that's the only argument I ever hear againt it ) is because they never do anything interesting with their roster. Mario Kart, and every Mario spinoff, should be a huge celebration of the entire Mario franchise, including it's extended universe in the Wario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Captain Toad, Luigi's Mansion, and yes even the RPG spinoffs, and they should be celebrating all eras of Mario too, not just the contemporaries. Give me Wart, Foreman Spike, Wanda from Mario vs Wario, Stanley the Bugman, things that we haven't seen in years. If Honey Queen can get in, I just don't see why they can't either. I'd much rather have this than them making up new characters to fill roster slots like "Baby Rosalina" "Pink Gold Peach" and "Wa Luigi" ( I'm kidding about that last part, he's one of the few good original creations of the spinoffs ) but this isn't exclusive to the roster, the best DLC track in my opinion was the Yoshi's Island track. There should be a higher number of tracks based on other Mario games, with lots of nods to that game.
    I don't want any truly kooky mechanics. I still want the core gameplay to be the same. But I want new items, courses, racers, and modes.

  • @Linealo
    @Linealo Год назад +1

    I'd like quite a few things or have ideas to mix it up:
    1) Revamp the item system.
    The current one is great, but we've had most of the same items for a long time now. I don't hate the current one either, but I'd argue that items are indeed a big part of what makes Mario Kart fun and different from say a cartoon version of Need 4 Speed. I'd love to see some new, fun item ideas and them maybe even bringing back some of the character specific items like in double dash.
    2) Double Dash
    Double Dash explored a fun mechanic with the two players. I'd love to see that back as a second mode. I know it's a lot to ask for, but having the current technology and knowledge available and seeing how it could make a big difference from MK8, I think it would be a fun idea to introduce it back into the mix, even just as a fun mode.
    3) Missions
    I know not everyone liked them in Mario Kart DS, but I think they were a great source of fun and challenge. A full fletched campaign would also be great, but I like simple missions.
    4) A "mission system"
    Hated in a lot of games, I could actually see myself liking it here. Hitting 5 different players in a Grand Prix with red shells or getting 3 purple drifts in a row could be stuff I could get behind, especially in a campaign. So similar to point 3 kinda. But I'd like it more of an achievement system aswell.
    5) Change up the themes.
    Tour showed us pixel-characters between 3D-Models and I'd love for them to play with these visuals. Make stages completely 8 bit or 2D segments like in Odyssey. Mix up playstile and visuals during the game.
    6) Take Battle Mode seriously
    I think this one is self-explanatory. Give it some love, create some actual maps for it and reinvent the wheel here. There have been plenty of other car-racer battle modes and I think the one from Diddy Kong Racing DS stuck with me the most outside of MK itself.
    7) Track mechanics and interconnected tracks
    This one is similar to the "dynamic tracks" point you brought up. I want the tracks to be interactive. Driving through a desert is great, but timed mechanics like the falling sand in MK Wii or the bridge in the new Yoshi's Island track are great scene assets. When I drive through a city, I'd love if it wasn't only scenery, but also actual stuff to do. And especially in the shortcut department I think it would be amazing to have much more path variations and hidden paths. Think about the drop down path in Yoshi's Island for MKDD or splitting paths in Yoshi Valley. But more balanced of course and more rewarding when you decide to take a longer route.
    Also, connect tracks. Allow us to see other tracks from eachother, like Daisy Cruiser was visible from Peach Beach in MKDD.
    8) Fan service
    I loved the Wuhu Island tracks. Not just because I thought they were a fun idea, but because I love Wuhu Island. So instead of only creating new scene assets and interpretations around themes, I'd love to see more of a "race through Nintendo history" kind of vibe on at least a few tracks. create a track through Peach's Castle from M64, a 1-1 themed Level (similar to the visual idea before), let us race on the Comet Observatory from Mario Galaxy or up / down the hill from BobOmb Battlefield. Throw in more Yoshi Island like themes. I.e. by using iconic places like New Donk City. But don't just show them to us in the background (like galaxy assets in RBR) but actually enjoy them as a track itself!
    9) Being back performance based rewards
    In MKWii you had to beat certain ghosts to get karts or get a certain ranking to unlock certain characters. It felt good, because not only was it sometimes a bit secret and fun to find out but also because it rewarded you for playing good. Coins are fine as well for steady progress, but a blend would be nice.
    10) More "weird" vehicles
    Make the difference between different vehicles bigger. I'd love to see a kart looking like a plane that glides further, a Monstertruck that actually is noticeably bigger, a kart not using wheels but tracks and so on. Customization is cool and should stay, but I want to see them experiment with the way these parts look, feel and work. Making a monstrosity like the baby buggy with track wheels and putting giant Bowser in it sounds fun. Maybe expand on this idea and make kart specific items? Or give them different powers like jumping extra high when initiating a drift or something? Idk, but I want to see more significant variation in theme and playstile.

    It's easy to think what they do next: The next MK is 10 or X in Roman numerals, X can also mean crossovers which is something they toyed with in 8D.
    MKX will be completely based on crossover stuff.
    Split Second is amazing and the course changes are triggered by the players after building up a three stage meter. You full the meter by drifting, drafting and near misses. It's well worth a play even today and in my opinion the racer from that era most deserving of a remaster/remake/sequel.

      100% agreed about the title, people seem to forget that in a technical sense Tour is MK9, so it's most likely that the next one will be 10, hence MKX. Also hard agree on crossover elements having a big focus, it's the logical next step after 8 dipped the toe in the water with Zelda, Animal Crossing etc.

    1) Mario Kart Maker -The next Mario Kart needs to have a Mario Maker element to it so random people online can make courses for the game. This insures the game can never be boring. Then you can download the highest rated courses. Maybe there's even competitions where the best fan made courses make it into the game..
    2) Every Retro Course Available - There was also a Wii modded version of Mario Kart that had literally every single course from each version of the game. It was very cool playing through all of the SNES courses/cups back to back... instead of just a few retro courses here and there. Full retro Cups would be awesome.
    3) RPG Mode/Campaign - Like Street Fighter 2 where each character has a different ending and cutscene for beating the game. It could also progress like that one RPG where you race in 8bit, 16bit, 64bit, and modern.
    4) More unlockable secrets/customizations if you beat aspects of the game...along the lines of the gold kart, wheels,
    5) Every course needs a shortcut...with the expansion waves a lot of the courses don't really have shortcuts
    6) Pixel mode - Where you can shift to more retro pixellated versions of the game like SNES or N64 maybe just a more retro look but with modern gameplay. Kind of like how Dragon Quest XI had a mode where you could play in pixel mode or modern 3d
    7) More interesting character animations. Mario Wonder really shows what is possible just in adding more animations to make the characters seem more alive.
    8) Bring back the Miis (ideally with Wii Sports Resort). There could be an arcade in the Sports Resort where you could play Mario Kart.

    It's funny how much I disagreed with a lot of the earlier ideas haha 😅
    I really don't want Nintendo Kart, and I think character specific items would be a nightmare in a game with so many racers.
    But I generally liked all the other ideas shared. The puzzle collaboration stuff especially sounds awesome.
    Here's some ideas I've had. Some I came up with recently, others I've been thinking about for years!
    ==Retro Revamps==
    Retro cups should absolutely stay in the game. Mario Kart is huge, and loads of people love playing courses they played when they were younger. Especially casual players who don't play many other Nintendo games! So they gotta keep them. BUT, bringing back MK8 courses like Toad Harbor wouldn't be that exciting... So what if we changed something about it? What if sky is cloudy and there's a windy rainstorm. There are knocked over crates, puddles of water, the music is more frantic! There is so much random stuff they could do if they change small parts about different courses. Delfino Square but it's during a festival! Broken Pier but it's being repaired by mischievous ghosts! Dry Dry Ruins but it's night time and mummies are roaming about!
    ==Sequel Courses==
    We've already seen this with stuff like Moo Moo Meadows. It's basically a sequel of Moo Moo Farm. We can revisit ideas from past courses but with a fresh layout and twist. You could do this with literally any course. One of my favorite ideas is Waluigi Pinball 2.0! ANOTHER giant pinball machine, but with a different vibe, crazier layout, and even crazier obstacles.
    This could even apply to battle maps. Pipe Plaza? More like Pipe Pantheon! A full on pipe maze with different colored pipes that lead to different parts of the map.
    ==Choose Your Kart==
    Mario Kart Tour didn't let you choose tires-- you could only choose karts and gliders. I think that's a good idea, but I have a compromise!
    Karts should have custom tires that are _themed_ around the kart. Here's my example, Mario Kart Tour has an awesome kart called the Combo Cruiser. Its tires are literally burgers, and it's awesome. But wait... if the tires are themed, then we can't use other tire types, right? WRONG
    Instead of choosing individual tires, you'd choose a tire _TYPE_ instead! Combo Cruiser's standard wheels would be burgers. Its rollers would be sliders. Its slim tires would be a burger without buns. Its monster tires would be mega burgers bursting with toppings.
    This puts emphasis more on karts instead of tires. Tires would change how the kart plays, but they wouldn't be as important. Different karts would play better with different tires and weight classes, etc. It opens up a new level of strategy and allows you to spend less time kart customizing!
    ==Character Cups==
    Each character would have their own challenge cup that consists of 4 courses that fit them (potentially only 3 + a challenge/mission!) Maybe characters could have certain objectives or twists like Smash Ultimate's classic mode. Completing the cup would unlock an alt costume for that character. I think most characters would only have 1 alt, but it'd still be fun. Speaking of alts...
    ==Racing Outfits==
    Each character should have a specific "racing" alt costume. This is probably a huge undertaking, but imagine if every character had their own custom designed racing suit. Mario has one in Mario Kart Tour and it looks awesome. Everyone could have one. It'd be what most of the girls with dresses wear by default on bikes, and the helmet could be toggleable. And speaking of Racing suits...
    ==More Mii Customization==
    I HATE the Mii Racing Suits in Mario Kart 8. They're all well designed, but you never get to see your mii's head. It's barely like you're driving as them! What if you could unlock clothing pieces like in Super Mario Maker 2? Or.... what if you could design your own racing suit! You could decorate it with stickers, use other characters' racing suits as a base, and just do whatever you want with it!
    ==Other Personal Customization=
    Splatoon 3 has lockers and splashtags... Mario Kart should have Garages and licenses. Design your Mii's driver's license, and spruce up your garage with furniture and your favorite kart parts.
    I could go on and on with ideas, but I gotta stop this somewhere.
    I'll end it off with my idea of how a story mode could go.
    You start with customizing a character. You can use your Mii, or you can accessorize a Toad, Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Penguin, Pianta, or Hammer Bro or something like that. They'd have a bunch of basic options for colors and expressions and stuff, but you'd basically be able to create your own OC to race. The story would be that your character won a contest and is being allowed to participate in the current Mario Kart Tournament. Or maybe you just play as anyone from the main roster! That might be better. Who knows!
    But some villain has taken over! Maybe a returning villain like Wart, or maybe a brand new villain! You'd have a series of hub worlds to race around in and practice within. The hubs would be in the background of certain new tracks, and there'd be big pipes that lead to the other hubs. You'd run into other characters who you'd race to recruit to your team and face the villain. Maybe whoever you pick determines which characters you are able to recruit! Or maybe the characters you can recruit all are working for the villain, and you have to convince them to join you after they see how great you are at racing.
    Anyway, it'd be kinda like the baseball story modes. Sluggers' specifically, because it has hubs and characters to talk to.
    That's it lol. Sorry for such a long comment!

    I really think the biggest question shouldnt be ao much modes, levels or characters which everyone likes to focus on but what new style is going to be introduced. We have had two players one kart, bikes, under water, gliding, anti gravity. What is the next step in the evolution here that they can do. I am not a creative so i dont know but i think this is what they need to focus on so its not just another booster course park for 60 plus dollars.
    I would however like to see all previous courses return. All characters return and then the standard 16 new courses and maybe 6 new characters. I think unlocking costume and kart variants like tour will probably be a thing too, hopefully with an emphasis on both single player challenge content and splatoon style online event weekends to keep the community engaged.
    Maybe make the dlc completely into a smash style roster with each character getting their own themed track while being added to the game. I see Kirby, and maybe samus the only no brainers at this point though. Who else they would first party wise idk.

    I think a map-maker mode would work really well especially if it was restricted to SNES-style layouts. Don't get me wrong, the graphics could be as good as (if not better than) the SNES Donut Plains 3 remake in MK8, but the overall design could remain flat and fairly simple (reflective of actual traditional go-kart courses). More advanced terrain, obstacles, etc., could be unlocked.
    Themes would include SNES-style: Circuit, Plains, Valley, Beach, Choco, Vanilla, Castle, Rainbow, plus GBA-style: Park, Desert, Cheese, Sky, and special DS style that needs to be unlocked: Stadium, Square, Gardens, and Pinball (each of these has a large pre-built start/finish line area, and you have to connect the loose ends of the track. (Pinball would be a special case where your layout (from the top of the launcher to the bottom section) will automatically tilt downwards. That's a total of 16 different themes so you can actually create a full suite of 4 cups of 16 unique tracks and share them online/with friends.

    If there's anything I know about Nintendo, they're wizards when it comes to thinking of new ideas and gimmicks for future games, and Mario Kart is one of those franchises that fits that category. I can definitely see Nintendo bringing back the double-driver mechanic from Double Dash as well as incorporating side games like Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS.
    If I were to think of a new gimmick for Grand Prix, I could see a feature where there's this specific item/ability you can get that's not received through an item box that will transform whatever kart, bike, ATV, you're driving into something completely unexpected that will impact the race in some way that could potentially benefit you and other players or vice versa.
    I don't necessarily know how that would all work during Grand Prix, but at least it's something. And yes, regular items would still have their uses. In fact, what if this special ability can only be activated when using a specific item? For example, if you hit 3 to 5 racers with green shells during a race, you randomly get an ability from a selection of abilities that focuses solely on green shells that could either aid you or hinder you depending on how skilled you are at using the ability. This would also apply to other items like blue shells and whatnot. So instead of a blue shell only going for the first-place driver, three blue shells could potentially go after whoever's in 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Of course, an ability like this would be rare.

    The main thing to consider is what sort of new gimmick they could add to the new Mario Kart and is probably the reason why we’re not gonna be seeing a new Mario Kart for a while.
    But I want to see the Double Dash mechanic back. They struck gold with Double Dash and it’s kinda annoying that they never went back to it. Especially since they got SO many characters to choose from now since Double Dash released. They could even introduce new ones.
    Also, it would be pretty cool if we saw tracks have like variations. Make it so the track aesthetic is the same but the track design would be different. This would be especially cool with the retro tracks. It’s funny too because they kinda already do this in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 so I’d like to see this with the console games.
    Maybe they could make a more robust kart customization system like maybe you can fine tune your engine or add off-road capabilities with your wheels. I still want to have different types of models, wheels, and gliders but I want to custom mod these. Take it one step further.

You may have balloons as your health bar. Maybe even competitive boss fights where after the boss is defeated, the player who dealt the most damage is the winner.
    As a catchup mechanic, the player who’s dealt the least damage can get a blue shell which will just hit the boss no matter where the player is on the map.
    If all your balloons are popped you don’t die, you respawn but it takes time to come back. However if you fight bosses solo, you do have to start over.

The player at the front of the car would drive, and the one in the back could have ability to aim and throw whichever object they get FPS style, using a mix of joystick and motion controls like in Splatoon. If they wanted to switch positions, they would both have to hold a specific button at the same time (maybe the “-“ button). This mode would even feature character specific items (like in Double Dash) designed for shooting in the FPS viewpoint.
    The main racing and battle modes would still be single-player versus each other, the Double Dash mode would just be an alternative. Make courses like Diddy Kong racing with flying carts as well, but also give planes, 2, and 4 wheelers distinct advantages and disadvantages. As someone who ”family good”, who wouldn’t touch a competitive online game knowing I soul get crushed, the difference between 2 and 4 wheelers is so insignificant that it only feels aesthetic.
    Also - give an option for account-wide unlocks. My 8 year old got interested in playing and she’s unlocking karts/wheels/parachutes that I unlocked long ago. Similarly, if we 3 star a Grand Prix, I don’t want to feel annoyed knowing I have to do it all over again.
    As you guys kind of mentioned, bringing back the partners, but with unique combos. Even if it was based on “class types” and visual only, I would love to drop a flaming banana (DK + Mario) or a heart-shaped shell bananas (Princess + a Koopa).
    I think redoing so many tracks between Wii and Wii U/Switch, either ONLY redo half and they are all tracks NOT YET redone or all new. I think it would be cool to bring back long karts, but also short tracks with 6-8 laps. It would be cool as well if you had three unique items (short, normal, single lap) for each of those. On a short track, swap the red shells for a purple shell that automatically hits the person in front, medium track, make lightning a POW 3 use POW block that spins everyone out, and long track gets a three pack of the crown mushroom turbo.

I prefer Mariokart being the game series where items continue to be its identity while F-Zero is for people that want to play a more serious racing game. I think F-Zero 99 and it’s skyway mechanic is a great way of adding a balanced comeback mechanic that isn’t completely ridiculous and rage inducing.
    When it comes to new Mariokart ideas, they should make the kart transformations be more interesting and change the way you interact with the game rather than simply being the same kind of racing that you usually do, but very slightly different because it is underwater or traction is different because of antigravity. For example, instead of having a glider that pops out of your kart, literally make the kart physically transform into a submarine or a plane and therefore change how you control the kart. It could be really cool with courses that have several different course sections. Then you would be able to have courses without ground!

      wonder flower themed baby park track at night 300cc massive goomba swallows randomly and spits you into racing backwards reversed upside-down all shrunk to tiny karts as the goomba spits out mario enemies to dodge and you have to keep racing that track till someone picks up the key to exit the ghost door that suddenly appears then you're back and everyone has a 1 use ability to shrink like a sticker to slip under other racers.

    I had some thoughts on this:
    - Single player career mode: Mario and crew get pulled into a tournament that they must race themselves out of?
    - 2 Worlds Mechanic: each track has 2 versions of it, one in the regular 'mario' world and another in a twisted alternative dimension that changes up the track, adds things, removes things, twists corridors etc. This is incorporated into races where a portal will randomly appear on a lap and racers will go through it and race in the twisted alternative track before being pulled back. Alternatively it could happen at any time and the track could switch to the alternative dimension.
    - Wonder Flower: Building on the alternative dimension idea, the wonder flower could be an item that switches up the track, it could need 3 players to activate it, 2 to hit the smaller wonder seeds and one to hit the flower, it then produces the wonder effect for that track.
    - Actual powerups: Rather than item boxes, power-ups are instead scattered across the track, pick up a fire flower, mario gains the white cap and white cart, can throw fireballs for a limited time. Tanooki suit power allows him to jump over other carts and hover for a moment, perhaps using it to cross a shortcut?
    - Bring back special items: double dash had special items based on the character, bring these back
    - More interesting battle modes: Make battle more interesting, have an actual cops and robbers on a race track instead of an arena?
    -More varied tracks: the tour stuff in the expansion was okay at best, bring back the creativity of the tracks to the same quality that they were on launch, give us a luigi's mansion inspired track, some tracks inspired by older super mario games like world or galaxy

      I thought of the portals Idea too, but it would take you through random areas of other tracks, and sometimes the portals could be optional for shortcuts.
      As for Battlemode what if they tried the Fortnite approach and you start out in a large area that slowly shrinks for the final showdown,

    An idea I have for courses is that after one lap, the track changes randomly to the next lap of other track. So there is more of an uncertainty so no one can be like “I just have to repeat this lap, or I know how this second lap goes”.

    Maybe they should take a page from Sonic Riders and create character type specific shortcuts. So in the case of Mario Kart it would be based on weight class. Also, I would love to see them return to the 2 character karts.

    I'm all for the thing literally every Nintendo fan on the planet has come up, making a 'Smash Kart'. And for good measure, bring back the Double Dash feature of allowing two players on the same kart, as an option in single player and also for coop.
    Call it Mario Kart X. The X can refer to the 10th in the series (including Tour), and can also be used as a 'cross' symbol for all the different franchises being added. They can have Smash-style announcement for new franchise with the splash screen Mario Kart X [insert other franchise].
    Each franchise adds a new cup, new vehicle customisation options, at least two new characters, and a new item, all of course being inspired by the source franchise. You could even add some unique interactions between characters if you enable the double mode (although these will be more of an easter egg rather than an expected feature). It'd be great.
    As for Nintendo franchises they could take from, there are so many obvious ones, not even including Mario-adjacent franchises:
    - Zelda
    - Splatoon
    - Pokemon
    - Pikmin
    - Metroid
    - Animal Crossing
    - F-Zero
    - Xenoblade
    - Fire Emblem
    - Star Fox
    - Kirby
    And countless third-party possibilities. They could update the game for years with Smash-style reveals and content drops.

    I think it’d be cool if they had some sort of “mashup” between courses that changes or is random every time. You’re driving through bowsers castle, pass through a portal or something of sorts, and now you’re in a segment of rainbow road. This could make every race unique.

  • @purplebeard1526

    To expand on Alex's point about terraforming courses in Mario Kart, you do have the P Switches and the ON/OFF switches where you could do those options easily and you can set them up to shoot items at OR drive over to do it. your mentioned Wonder Flower idea could be good too. I think weather could be a thing...snow, rain, fog, day/night change while racing, wind, sandstorm ect... Personally, I am neither here nor there on a story mode/mission mode. I am in favor of the character specific items coming back. Like MKDS and MKDD, I wouldn't be opposed to character specific karts come back.
    They need to fix battle mode--more arenas, more options. It used to be one of my favorite modes in the series, but it's taken such a huge downturn over the years, I don't even care to play it anymore.
    The next one needs to have better customization options like CTR. MKT proved alt skins are there, do it. Customize kart parts ala CTR--all those colors and designs. More differentiated kart parts--a lot of the parts are the same stats... make more different ones. There are way too many characters to name, but MKT hit on the right ideas with how many NEW racers they put in. Use the coins you get in the races to buy stuff out of a shop... add different colored coins that are worth a higher value for other things.
    New modes? Mirror was a good starter, 200cc was good evolution, move on to a higher cc? A trick mode with more obstacles/jumps/ect? Higher speed Mirror? Custom Cups? Go for platinum trophies which would be 1st place for all tracks in a cup. Return of All-Cup Tour out of MKDD. With Nintendo's focus on co-op Switch play, a MKDD mode ought to come back.
    On interesting thing here would be like you guys were talking about, old vs new, and considering the Booster Course Pack is a thing....how do you do the main game and the DLC? DO we get get Mario Kart Ultimate.

    8:30 is the best comment. Either reduce the racers to 8 and keep the items or keep the racers at 12 and reduce the items by half. Between 4th and 10th you just keep getting hit.
    10:50 is a bad idea. That creates a meta and double dash has an awful meta. Dks, bowsers, babies are worthless. Wario/waluigi, princesses, yoshis, are just meh. Koopas, Mario bros, toads are good, and boo/piranha are excellent. Don't need that again.
    They also need to stop the cheaters online. Playing online is no fun when you hit someone with a star, and they are tumbling just as fast as you are going, and yet when they get back on their wheels you still can't pass them. That happens ALL THE TIME.
    These things kill Mario kart the most with me. The tracks are almost always great, minus the tour tracks.
    They should also get rid of the bullet bill.

    I guess 14:53 imagine level 1 base form items then a level 2 option you gotta drive through the item box and try and pull it again for added effects. A lot of noobs just sit back and bag at back of the map I think the chance to level up basic items like green shells bananas coins and much lower odds for the specials items. Maybe you can build a kart from scratch with set amount of points to the kart and then an added slow builder for an ultimate for an extra ability to use sometimes example. Grapple hook to fire on players to be pulled towards or on a bend to come round faster and safer to power slide. A light wind screen for ink or 1 lighting protection roof to stop rng or another is a booster to have slightly longer time mushrooms. Maybe karts take a bit of damage to effect stats one power up could use 10 coins to block a shell shot or another could make blue shells take a tiny bit longer to lock and and seek you out? they should also do a double dash mode from 100cc -200cc
    Leaving 50cc as a beginner course optional and 100 being normal and 150/150 mirrored being the main. Bring back some boss challenges mode also
    Imagine they did the new one kinda edgy graphics like Mario strikers building a car from scrap like Lego racers for online getting parts by racing and collecting you could also get blue prints to build cool og designs of karts
    Also better battle maps and modes take some inspiration from Mario party but with karts
    200cc isn’t cannon it’s a silly party mode to try different ways to use the map you can tell the game wasn’t built for it they added maps that could adapt to it but it wasn’t main. Just a way to do it like
    Gyro controls isn’t main.

    A Mario kart that brings back dual carts, and with that the option to have one player only control one character in a cart.
    Also make it smash cart… bring in everyone. Release some as dlc themed packs if need be. Maybe make some add ons if you buy other Nintendo products (unlock Zelda link and gannondorf if you buy whatever the new Zelda game will be)
    Bring back character specific items, and allow anyone to use them. But make the characters themselves more likely to get them when they’re between a certain set of places. (Toad in first don’t need 3 mushrooms, but toad 6th+ might)
    Make auto steering and driving stronger: the only way my wife and kids can beat me is if I also use auto steering/driving, and I don’t drift
    That idea of enhanced comeback mechanics is golden. Unless I’m getting hit with an item wombo combo, with a side of star power from the driver in 8th, a blue shell isn’t really going to take me out of first (tho, a well timed lightning strike with a lakitu that takes me backwards might). Courses that change for drivers that aren’t in first. Maybe narrow some parts of the map and have a bridge spawn boost pads for each player that crosses after the first one, or the first three. Maybe reduce slowdown when off the track depending on how far back you are.

    I feel like a great way to generate maximum hype for the franchise is to release a Mario Kart All-Star kind of game with characters from different series. Kind of like Smash Bros. You could race on tracks based on Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid and so forth. You could even bring in third party characters.
