An excellent video, and thanks to those who shot it. For those who claim that the bikes are "over-restored", all I can add is that any vintage bike that's actually raced can never be called over-restored. During the time these bikes were first raced, the majority were always kept in great, clean shape. Anyone who raced a ratty bike back then made the rest of us very nervous, since those who didn't care for their bikes probably didn't care how they rode. And for those seeing and hearing these bikes for the first time, keep in mind that almost all of them are being "babied" a bit, and kept way below peak power. Back in the day, they were a lot louder and on, and beyond the red line constantly. So, add about 20% more RPM in your mind when listening to them. ;) And finally, despite the cost of having our hearing impaired from racing without mufflers, I truly believe that silencing those wonderful sounds has hurt the popularity and excitement of racing. Racing engines are SUPPOSED to scream. Just cover your ears.
il y a une chose qui me frappe à chaque fois, whatever the bike you drive, the spirit is still the same, GAZZZZZZZ……………………!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't change anything, it's the way we love bikes! Thanks for this superb video.
OK, ALL was wonderful, but those side car "passengers" were utterly wonderful. I can't express my feelings related to their confidence in their pilots.
Went to Brands Hatch in 1970 and watched practice. Everything from an F-3 March to motorcycles. But the most fun was watching the sidehacks going through Paddock Hill Bend. Sheer Courage!
rob the log No better smell could come out of an engine, I agree! My 70' Daytona street bike runs on it & at bike nights with all those HD's, EVERYONE notices my little Triumph w/ TT pipes. Including their girlfriends!
This is wonderful! :D Cannot stop watching this! Would love to be part of it! xD I do realize the bikes are made for racing, as there are no lights or plates... but oh so fun it seems!
Great video. The passeners on the side cars were brave and/or dumb and had to work very hard. Loved the Duccaties, Nortons and Dunlop. These old bikes seemed to hold their own against some of the more modern bikes. The Kawasaki Triples seemed to be pretty much as hot as the semi modern Crotch Rockets. I think I saw a Triumph. Beautiful engines on Nortons and Triumphs.
Early bike valve springs could be fragile and were sometimes changed during a race. Most were enclosed by the late 1930's, but Manx Nortons used hairpin springs exposed until the end of production.
If he bended over and picked it up where it was laying he would have taken the risk of being run over by the next bike.Better kick it to an out of the way towards a safe place place before retrieving it. Smart road marshal.
If you are referring to my comment, i wasn't referring to the engine sound itself obviously. But the sound that is "of" from the rest of the noise these old girls make (when the gas is let off it's heard as loud popping)
I've got to disagree just a bit. Many vintage bikes owners/racers baby their bikes way more than was done during that bike's "serious era." In the video, only one or two of them are getting on the bubble, let alone on the pipes. If they warmed-up on hot plugs and lean settings, and then switched to cold plugs and went race-rich, as done when they were originally raced, we'd be seeing less popping and lots more Rs.
Argh! I'm loving it and have watched it twice so far. The MV Agusta at 5:50 can't fail to send a thrill right through anyone listening to that 12,000 rpm demon wailing out it's spine chilling song of heavenly evil! :¬D
Alexander Last no I'm talking about the one (actually there were a couple) that had boxy looking 3 cylinders where the center pipe splits into 2 pipes that head to each side of the engine. also it did look like one was powered by a BSA Rocket 3 engine as well.
Great video but to be hones i can see these lads holding back a bit and i dont blame them but if you come over to ireland and see classic racing its on the edge stuff
Lol I think the damage of it falling off at that speed would've been more than a few scrapes from booting it. And he most likely did it so he could pick it up off the side of the road instead of standing in the middle of the road where he'd get hit IF a bike happened to come along when he did so.

what a beautiful video!!!!, never expected to find so many classic bikes in just one video. Thanks.
Hear the popping? Notice the complete lack of torque? Can't believe how many of these old bikes run lean. Great video!
6:10 sound is impressive
Was great seeing and hearing the old Ducati singles, I had a 250 once, loved that bike.

Too right mate, the addictive smell of Castrol - R and methanol , none better!

So many Cool bikes? Great Video!!
what classification would u guys put these bikes under? for example standard bikes, cruisers, duel sport, sport, super sport?
Correct me if i´m wrong.
But this is a Honda RC181 from 1967 or so. Not a Agusta!
@ 3:03 I never seen valve springs exposed before. That's very unique. Doesn't seem right though.
loads of classics have em
Early bike valve springs could be fragile and were sometimes changed during a race. Most were enclosed by the late 1930's, but Manx Nortons used hairpin springs exposed until the end of production.
Complete Wacky Races...It was my pleasure to watch all these crazy guys ,all drivin like Mad Max...I just love this stuff...
I lol'd at the marshal kicking the piece away and then picking it back up and walking back in the other direction.
If he bended over and picked it up where it was laying he would have taken the risk of being run over by the next bike.Better kick it to an out of the way towards a safe place place before retrieving it. Smart road marshal.
Mathieu Smeets As a marshal I always kick em, been burnt one time too many! some of those pieces are hot as the sun !
bit was probably $1000 plus lol
Those are some beautiful sidecars!
GREAT SHOW. WHO WON IT?
What happened to this bike in 20:41?
Looks like he couldn't get it into the right gear...
He have to fix his bike.
blue and silver bike at the 3;15 section?
Oh dear lord that sound at 6:00-6:13!!!
even through the internet 4cyl hondas on megas have just the right note to make your ears resonate haha.
Nice video, awesome sound
Parabéns , excelente postagem !
How was the audio recorded??
what's the model od BMW bike in 20:00 ? engine ?
the popping is caused by long cams and the megaphone exhausts not leanness.
If you are referring to my comment, i wasn't referring to the engine sound itself obviously. But the sound that is "of" from the rest of the noise these old girls make (when the gas is let off it's heard as loud popping)

Anybody else notice the Suzuki at 7:56 - driver was power shifting!
Some nice stuff there. Great to hear the m/c's in full song. No twin Ducati though ? Rob
**_!£@
12:00 Bike name?
19:40 Like old BMW,seems big power.
the bike at 12;00 is a honda 4cylinder 350cc
Loved the sight and sounds. This is what motorcycles looked and sounded like before they all had plastic bodies and computer controlled mechanicals.
how many cc's were these? 50!
fantástico gracias por compartir esta maravilla
brilliant.Taveri replica sounded great!
At 1.59 and 2.11 see the very rare sight of a foot-operated clutch, in use, on No 516, the Indian.
why no info on makes an riders ????
How long was this track?
Argh! I'm loving it and have watched it twice so far. The MV Agusta at 5:50 can't fail to send a thrill right through anyone listening to that 12,000 rpm demon wailing out it's spine chilling song of heavenly evil! :¬D
These bikes are beautiful love classic bikes
Loved every minute!

Reggia Versailles
This is amazing!
Gänsehaut! Man spürt jeden Zündschlag.
Great stuff thank you...
super video!
This video makes it quite clear, people used to be a lot smaller.
whats the purpose of the lady and her spade like contraption?
+SuperValiantKnight Tip from title: Hillclimb
Thanks
+SuperValiantKnight To stop rolling back.
was that black sidecar powered by an old Trident engine?
I think you're right! What a lovely bike!
John Mård only reason I noticed is the 74 T150V sitting in our garage (my dad's)
J.A.Ratt85 Sneak in to the garage, wheel the lady out, give her some love, and let her live again.
Number 608 was a unit Triumph Bonnie twin if thats the one you meant?
Alexander Last no I'm talking about the one (actually there were a couple) that had boxy looking 3 cylinders where the center pipe splits into 2 pipes that head to each side of the engine. also it did look like one was powered by a BSA Rocket 3 engine as well.
Nice sharing... love it
3:10 What a sound
Great video but to be hones i can see these lads holding back a bit and i dont blame them
but if you come over to ireland and see classic racing its on the edge stuff
Please spot the differences. In Ireland are hills but in Schwitzerland mountains.
Thanks!
dude this is awesome
Great video thank you.
1:18 a piece of a rare vintage bike comes off onto the track so what does the marshal do? He boots it. FFS.
Lol I think the damage of it falling off at that speed would've been more than a few scrapes from booting it. And he most likely did it so he could pick it up off the side of the road instead of standing in the middle of the road where he'd get hit IF a bike happened to come along when he did so.
It could have been red hot!
What is 507? It's not a B.M.W or a Zundapp what is it' what CC, and what year?
