- There's a big problem with crafting in Minecraft...
When crafting wood in Minecraft it is a scam, expensive, and doesn't give you a fair trade in return. It is a problem that need addressing, that Mojang seem to be ignoring. It could have been a great addition into Minecraft 1.20 trails and tales update as Mojang seems to be aiming for quality of life improvements. Fixing Minecraft wood would definitely improve that, given they've just added the new Bamboo wood variants into Minecraft 1.20 that basically ruin Minecraft wood...

Do you think Minecraft wood is a scam?
Absolutely but it would feel weird if it was fixed
Yes.
It would be too op if it wwasnt like that
yes
Doors and trapdoors :😮
Yep, I've always been annoyed by the button thing, probably the worst in terms of unbalanced recipes. If you think about it though, a lot of crafting recipes that make one block don't make sense, like dispensers or droppers for instance where you need 8 cobblestone to make one block...I mean if it were changed it'd feel a bit weird but I guess we've just gotten used to it not making sense haha
I always assumed it was like waste material making up the excess. Like for buttons you have enough wood to make a button but the pieces of wood you have left over aren't good for crafting other blocks so they get scrapped and disappear. The same for dispensers and the like you don't use 7 whole blocks worth of cobblestone in the block it just take 7 complete blocks to allow you to make the right pieces for the new block and its functionality. Obviously this isn't canonical but its how I've rationalized it.
Wasn't the video I expected, but I liked it. I never thought of how much loss happens when crafting (though I don't think I've ever made any stone type item (that doesn't give a direct 1 to 1 ratio) in a crafting table since the stonecutter was added, so having a woodcutter would definitely solve that issue of lost wood, and need for alot of it).
Agreed!!
With the stairs thing, if you put 2 together you actually get 1.5 blocks, not 1. Ratio of blocks to stairs would be 4 blocks for 5 stairs
i know every time someone talks about that it infuriates me like it is so obvious it would make 1.5 blocks
Take a full tree to make one tooth is Minecrafts logic XD
this makes toal sense, Mojang HAS to add the WOODCUTTER!!
WOODCUTTER SUPREMECY
sawmill
A would cutter wood cut would so good
Yeah! You’ve come back! We’re all very excited that you uploaded, mate (: Haven’t watched it yet, but I’m sure I’ll love this video! :D
I feel getting 4 planks per log balances most of the recipes out, the buttons are just a scam though lol.
Average Modern Gamer : Yeah! That's total BS!
Most of the Medieval Peasants who actually processed wood in life : Boy, You have no F-ing idea what you're talking about.
Meh idk if Minecraft would change it just because it has been here for so long
Minecraft in general is a scam! They think they can get me to play longer by forcing a 1:1 block to button ratio?! Oh uh...ya I guess they can. 😅
I just want a fair trade man
@@MonocleMC It's definitely annoying.
well, you don't use wheat in it's raw form like in the minecraft recipe when baking a cake, but you do often use eggs, milk, suger and flour and flour is made from wheat
Imo trapdoors are the most egregious of these. They take up less space then slabs, are twice as expensive and you only get two trapdoors compared to 6 slabs
3:00 hmm if only there was another block found in villages that holds sharp tools thst literally has no purpose so we can turn it into a woodcutter
Sir this ain't a Wood cutter you'll need a sawmill
Hmm.... Weird. Even though it call stone cutter. Even though copper is not a stone materials. Stone cutter get to cut copper block.
I don't see why it can not cut a wood too.
"this is why most players make a tree farm"
There's a tree farm?
i hate how the early comments on big channels are always the same braindead boring stuff or kids who want attention
I'M FIRST OMG PIN ME!!!!!
When you get famous, will you remember me?
There is Corail WoodCutter mod but unfortunately it only works on Forge.
Ahah, but is a button not a mechanism, with internal systems and components to allow it to function? Could this intricate inner working not be where the extra wooden plank is allocated to? Like how a firearm looks simple but is very heavy, perhaps the humble button is actually far more dense and eloquent than thou first pondered hmm?
Great video. I actually expected to see someone with millions of subscribers when I looked on the sub count.
If only😐
Greetings here, I have some feedback.

This does not make any sense.
You are transforming *one* full block into *four* full blocks.
Realistically, you should get a maximum of one plank per log, unless the plank is empty on the inside, which *would* make sense *if* planks were easier to break than logs, but they are not.
0:30 and 2:40
Most players barely make any farm, let alone a tree farm.
This is a common misconception among the more involved Minecraft players; The misconception in question being that we often think most players do this advanced stuff, whilst the *vast majority* of people do not, and most have not even beaten the likes of the Ender Dragon a single time.
Though, of course, most people that watch channels like yours and that actually take their time to comment are the more likely to be these more “advanced” players, thus painting a bit of a misleading image about the community (though not in a bad way).
0:44
Three seems fair as you would realistically lose some material, but I fully understand and agree that it should give four for four; As to be more coherent with the rest of the game and for it not to be annoying.
0:58
Doors used to be crafted the same way, but would only give one (which was a complete rip-off).
Now, three are given, which is better but annoying.
I would suggest either the middle-ground two, or four to be more fair to the amount of blocks used to craft them.
1:16
Sticks here do not make sense; And whilst one could make the argument that too much would not be good : Remember that sticks are one of the most used if not the most used item in the game for crafting, ranging from most tools to ladders and such, as well as those thousands and thousands of torches that you craft throughout the caves and more.
So, I think that you should get around eight to sixteen sticks per planks; It seems more fair and will waste us players less time and resources.
2:00
Yes, 8 would be good, especially since one usually crafts a lot less buttons than say sticks.
2:35
Yes, and my thought is that they might have thought back then that the quarter-cut pieces of the planks to make the stairs would not go together to form another stair.
I think that the stair recipe could also have a companion, a simple three blocks recipe that would give you four stairs instead of eight with six planks.
3:32
I had never thought of the trapdoors before, but I think that they should logically give double the amount of doors would.
If you follow VanillaTweaks' example, it would mean that the normal door recipe should give 6 doors; Which I am okay with as it is a round number, though I think that it would be less cluttering to have four doors and eight trapdoors instead.
Yes, this comment is not very useful, but I like to write useless things, it is kind of my thing.
Have a nice day, everyone, and remember to drink some water.

Thanks for the feedback, and I like that it's actually constructive without insulting me! You'd be amazed how many just insult me lol
@@MonocleMC Well, I rarely see the point of being insulting to anyone, especially over such subjects; And I also tend to be naturally nicer and relatively neutral, so this might help too.
But I am aware of how far some people will go to do harm to others for basically nothing, especially on the Internet, and it is no surprise to me either; But these people would be surprised at how much more rewarding it is to be actually nice to others, and to an extent, to themselves.
Being nice is free and makes both parties involved feel better most of the time, it simply is the way to go most of the time.
Cheers.
The woodcutter should be called a sawmill.
That does make more sense lol
Why would you turn logs into bark though?
great video, you are really underrated :)
Thanks!
How many thumbnails have you tried on this
So many, I've given up lol
I think redstone stuff like buttons and trapdoors also require wood for invisible mechanical bits
(But damn make trapdoors and stairs cheaper)
I liked the video, but just have a small thing to add when it comes to the thumbnail and people clicking on it. Generally, as least for me as a viewer, the thumbnail won't be enticing if it just restates what's already in the title. For this video, the title is "Minecraft Wood Has a Problem." So immediately the viewer is asking, what's the problem, what's the solution, things like that. So, if you have thumbnail text, it should be adding to what's in the title or in some way making the viewer curious about the video. That's why you see stuff like "One Simple Fix" or "Hidden for 12 Years" and stuff like that. I feel like the thumbnail is less effective if it's just saying something the viewer already knows. But that's just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
I've been constantly switching this one. It's frustrating me tbh. Thanks for the feedback✌️
You know you‘re early when the video has more likes (5) than views (0)

Also, nice vid.
Edit: I'm actually second lol, go to "newest".
Im first so you ned to pin me
No
Because? I’m sorry I’m just upset that someone as egotistically orientated crawled their way into one on my favourite RUclipsr‘s comment sections. You have not provided anything worth pinning, and there are plenty other people claiming to be first, therefor no, he does not need to pin you. You are acting woefully childish are must feel ashamed. Now if your comment was a joke, then feel free to r/woosh me xD
Anyway, please forgive my rant. I bid you a wonderful day regardless of my feelings towards your comment :D
Bro it a joke !

@@orangeover5539 Ah I see lol
Well then I hope you can forgive me (: I admit to the idea of my acting rather hastily in my accusations. Have a nice day! :D
