Watched this to bide my time until the AEG-1 finally hits the market in Germany. Totally enthused about this, as well as the Duet system, also for installation in other guitars. Heard some very useful demos done by Aaron Short on this YT channel, so if anybody wants to hear the AEG-1 (or the Duet in another guitar), check out his livestream on the topic.
Make that pickup system and controls plug and play for a Taylor, a battery tray to replace the Taylor and controls that mount where Taylor’s es2 controls are! 🤯
We'll have to wait and see. We've had a lot of questions about what other versions and configurations will be coming next. We're still working on it, so stay tuned!
Mr. Baggs. I put my faith and my money into one of your products, The Reference Amp. I had to send it off to you twice because of problems i.e. Reverb not working..cutting out etc. While playing live it started cutting out again. Very humiliating on stage. I gave up and sold it for a fraction of what I paid. Never again!
I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with the A-Ref. We really try our best to make outstanding products and to support them to the best of our ability. I know that nothing can be done at this point, but if you ever want to tell us more about that experience, please reach out to our support team. We are here to help however we can. -Caleb
As a fellow musician, I feel your pain. Still, I could well imagine that venting your frustration under a totally unrelated video might not be that beneficial to those who came here to watch the video. Maybe Baggs could help you out with a bit of late compensation, possibly on some new product of theirs you might wish to trial? As for Baggs‘ reputation, I know a ton of performing musicians out there who swear by the quality of lots of different gear they produce, so maybe your issue was a freak occurrence? Still interesting to hear their customer service was apparently not up to par back then.
As another commenter pointed out, Baggs do have some playing videos online. That said, I found them too focused on fast riffs and fancy playing to be able to properly assess how the guitar actually sounds plugged in. If you‘re interested in hearing someone strum and gently play the guitar - also as compared with a normal piezo system in another guitar, and as compared with the Duet pickup in a normal guitar - then I recommend scooting over to Aaron Short‘s YT channel and checking out his livestream on the topic. He demoes everything in a very valuable way. I‘m totally enthused about the AEG-1, as well as about the new Duet! Never heard a more natural plugged-in acoustic sound.
This makes me so unreasonably happy! 😭 You should do a nylon string version!
I love back stories… fascinating!
Can't wait to get my hands on one here in the Netherlands!

Fascinating design.

My solution for my Taylor’s awful live sound was to sell it, buy a Martin with a Baggs Anthem and I’ve never looked back. 😝
Excellent video Caleb!
Thanks, Bo! -Caleb
So...when is the nylon classical version of this coming?????????

What frets/fret wire is used?
They use a standard nickel/silver fret wire.
very weird that you didn't even play it.
It was a first look, not sound 😂
They have four AEG-1 videos-with playing-on their main channel. This is the resources channel and primarily features user guides and product info.
