Excellent job. I've been very interested in possibly buying this guitar and any further videos you'd do I'd definitely be interested in watching them. PS--loving that Loud Box Artist amp too.
Hey Deven, thanks for your friendship and thoughts on this. Yeah, it does have a very Chet Atkins sort of visual vibe. I think this one may sound a bit more natural than the older Chet Atkins Gibson.
Gary enjoying your videos! I just purchased the same baggs guitar as well. I’ve tried the fishman loud box mini and the Blackstar sonnet 120. Do you think the fishman artist or the AER 60 would sound better?? Thanks Mike
Hey Mike, thanks for the kind words. I don't have any current experience with the AER60 but I've been a long time fan of the fisherman Loudbox Artist and that is my main gigging amp. I also play through it at home all the time. When I need more output for my gigs I run the DI Mix Output to an extension powered speaker like a QSC K8.2. You may not need that. I had the Loudbox Mini for quite a while and I liked it a lot but felt it was underpowered and lacked the projection I needed for a lot of what I do.
Thanks! The back isn't laminated, though. It's EIR, and is "active", just like the top is. I bought the same model here locally at Guitar Sanctuary. It sounded the best of all three variations.
Thanks for confirming the East Indian Rosewood. And also that the Torrified Spruce is the best sounding. I am super happy. I also discovered the soundhole ring in the gig bag.
Fantastic, i just got mine and love it. I put ebony knobs on it and painted the truss cover black. Order some pickguard material so i can make one. Do you know what strings they ship them with? Brand/Gauge? Thanks and enjoy your playing style.
@@gair1944 I think you might get better results with a slightly higher action. There seems to be a lot of brittle string fret buzz rattle. Just trying to help .
It gets a very credible acoustic sound. If I were recording I would opt for my higher end acoustic guitars. I do however think this would sit well in a recorded mix. But would my Collings OM1, D1 traditional, Martin custom shop OM28 or D18 sound better? Yes they would in my opinion.
Thanks Gary. Will be interested to hear your thoughts after a few gigs with it. To me, the selling point would be the comfort of the thin body playing it for 3-4 hours. Please report back after a few gigs. It sounds nice through the LB. How are you liking it so far?
Hey Jack, I gigged with it last night. Nice sounding room but a short 2 hour gig so I didn't get a ton of data other than it worked out wonderfully. From the first note I was super happy. High points are ease of use with control panel on the top side of the guitar. I didn't feel the need to move the Mic control from 40% to 50%. The difference it adds in a gig environment is subtle. The more mic you add, the brighter and thinner the treble sounds to me. So I left it at 40%/ (11 o'clock where the center detent is at 12 o'clock). The beveled armrest makes it super comfortable on a strap paired with the thin body depth. It is slightly midrange prominent but that WORKS really well in varied room acoustics and it sounds 'natural'. Please email me directly at gairman1@gmail.com
PS: If I only brought the Baggs AEG-1 guitar to a gig, I am fairly confident I would be happy with my sound all night. But when I compare to my arguably higher end amplified acoustics (Martin, Collings, Gibson Custom Shop etc) Yes, I hear a difference. But the Baggs Guitar is natural sounding and sounds like good amplified acoustic guitar. FYI - I inserted the sound hole ring for my gig. I had forgotten to look for it in the gig bag before making this demo.
Great playing! How is the video miked up? Sounds like a phone, maybe? There’s noise when it’s quiet so maybe some compression going on. Would like to hear it with a mic on the amp and another for your voice.
Thanks for this. Sounds great and helpful. What's your opinion about making the jump to the AEG-1 vs installing the duet system into my Martin/Taylors/Larrivees I typically gig with?
Interesting, thanks. I am curious how it sounds when not plugged -- more like a small body acoustic or an un-amped electric? Is it a guitar you could actually use for un-amped playing around the house or with friends?
I probably would not use this guitar to play acoustically with friends but it does have enough acoustic volume to play at home, learn songs, play on the couch. I prefer a bigger richer acoustic tone that projects more. That comes from a deeper body in my experience ...typically.
Best demo and best playing EVER!!!!!
Thank you for the very kind comment
excellent playing!!
Thanks Carl!
Thank you for playing it unplugged a bit. Been waiting to hear how loud it actually is.
Glad to learn my demo of the Baggs AEG-1 was helpful.
nice morning coffee listening Gary!!
Thanks Dave. It's a very capable and musical guitar.
Gary that sounds great! I can see why you'd want to use that on any gig.
Thanks for listening and for your comment on the Baggs AEG-1 guitar
sounds pretty good and thanks for sharing
Thank you. I LOVE all of your demo video's. You are such an excellent musician and your reviews are the best!

Thanks Justin. You can email me directly at gairman1@gmail.com for more direct conversation.
Great sounding guitar! Of course, you make any guitar sound good!
You are way too kind my friend.
Gary...price please...by the way, you're awsome man....thanks God for your talent...
I think the guitar retail price is $1599 or $1699?
Glad to see you’re enjoying the guitar! Reminds me a bit of the Chet Atkins from Gibson

I have an SST I love, and I am really intrigued by this AEG1.
@@aldenwilkinswhat do you mean “SST”? You have the Sunburst Spruce Top version of the AEG-1?
@ Gibson Chet Atkins SST. Wagner mentioned it above.
Sounds great Gary, thanks for sharing. I'm looking at purchasing the same model.
Glad it was helpful David. I gigged with the AEG-1 last night and it worked really well in a live venue.
I have to have one!!
Cool Let the folks at LR Baggs know you heard my Demo and liked it!

@ thanks! I’m trying to clear up the bass response on mine and was wondering if the artist or the performer might be the way you go.

The strings are Daddario XT light gauge .012-.053
Appreciate the video ! Lovely instrument hope to own one someday is there quite a bit of fret buzz here ?
Not that I notice.

Does it get close to a studio miked sound in your opinion ? Would you record using it ? Curious

Yes it's a single source video recorder. Some day I'll buy more advanced gear. For now, this is the best I have to offer.
Thanks for this. Sounds great and helpful. What's your opinion about making the jump to the AEG-1 vs installing the duet system into my Martin/Taylors/Larrivees I typically gig with?
If you love your existing guitars the Baggs Duet will deliver their sound nicely.

If you ever choose to sell your amber x20 with the maple top let me know…I am interested!
