How impressive was Shane van Gisbergen's win in Chicago?
very
9.5/10
Very impressive
Now imagine how much better and faster Shane could be if they were to cater to his dominant side and custom built a car for him with a right hand side steering wheel with stick shift on his left side? he would have been more beast and at the very least another couple of seconds faster. Not to mention he said it himself he ''left a lot on the table'' as he wasn't fully comfortable with the brake pedal set up as well as other aspects of the car he couldn't have as he would have wanted. And he is currently in 4th ranked place for championship points and 8th-9th rank overall in terms of skill at the moment.
@@nameless1873 Posting the same comment on EVERY site - you must be a Kiwi eh nameless! LOL
The V8 Supercar fans in America knew all about SVG. We've been waiting for NASCAR to modernize the cars so something like this could happen. After giving up on NASCAR I'm again a fan.
Where do you watch the V8 supercars races at.
@brianeveritt7916 on the Supercars RUclips channel, the membership is around 6-7 dollars a month.
I think with both comps the cats have become more similar in both directions
@@bradclifton5248yeah the cup car getting modernized and the new Gen 3 Supercar having less downforce and moving around more definitely ease the transition. Still a ton of things that are different and the fact that Shane didn’t have any mistakes without a pit limiter and being on the other side + shifting with the opposite hand makes it more impressive than the speed tbh. Was pretty funny how everyone was freaking out about him heel and toeing the thing around
@@brianeveritt7916 You Tube Superview...
Shane winning has done a lot for expanding nascars audience, as a kiwi all my motorsport friends are going to follow nascar now... and there will be thousands more following now aswell
I hope you guys give the ovals a go as well. They can be entertaining, not just the crashes
@@Phonixrmf as a kiwi , I enjoy the ovals , Scott Dixon has always been entertaining , breaking records , winning championships. then Scott McLaughlin coming from supercars and competing on ovals. now Armstrong. it's about time we had some kiwis in nascar !!!
Welcome mate! 🔥🙏🏻
Hope you guys enjoy the ovals too
As an Australian who doesn’t watch Nascar, this made me interested. I’ll definitely keep up to date with it.
I also think some of these American drivers need to come and drive Bathurst here in Australia. I think they’ll cream their pants with excitement around that track.
You’ve done New Zealand proud Shane!
For us back in New Zealand this was not a surprise but hopefully next time he is over there he can show them his full potential once he gets use to those cars and racing
They just got a sneak peak at what he is capable of on track
Can see a lots of nascar teams maybe suddenly looking at supercar series in Aussie to see who they can recruit lol
Bathurst is the race to watch if you want to watch V8 supercars. Well done SVG every one on both sides of the tasman is proud
the 2014 highlights should convert any race fan.
I still feel for gizzy. karma has given him success since that useless starter motor packed it in.
Impressive stuff from SVG!
Let's see how many Nascar headhunters turn up at Bathurst in October.
All of them lol, next NASCAR seasons line up will look like a super car race😂
SVG is the real deal folks ... Go watch how we do things down under ... Bathurst is the race to watch ... Best track on the Planet with the Best Tintop racers in the World ... Ask anyone who have come over and ran that track ... Awesome 🇳🇿😎
Will you please foff and stop blocking me.
He will go further than Marcos Ambrose, who did well 3 time V8 super car champ 🏆
he's lightyears ahead of ambrose in skills. gizzy has driven anything they'll let him , and fast. open wheel , wrc2 , drifting , sprint car, gts , endurance racing , lemans , obviously supercars , anything
Gissie is also a better person off track when the cameras aren't rolling. Ambrose's way of treating people was a bigger influence on him getting drives then was his skill. Shane has both skills and well earned respect.
Larry McReynolds needs to come to Bathurst.
yes and take a hot lap with shane
Everyone remembers that Daryl Waltrip ride along.....
Be great to see some of the top NASCAR drivers go to Australia and drive an Australia supercar at the Bathurst 1000.
He's made for big V8 sedan racing, unbelievable. He can only improve whatsmore. Haley and a couple of the other boys were also very, very good in tough conditions.
To be a true racer u must be able to drive on all circuits and conditions loved the street race from Australia bravo
This bloke is a legit Wheelman. He can drive anything fast. V8SC, LeMans, GT3, Drift, rally, time attack, he’s quick in them all. A lot of V8SC drivers we have here in Aust can’t compete in different platforms.
It’s so cool to see SVG ripping a NASCAR I’d love to see him on an oval 👍
He did Australia proud too.
I think he'll be great on ovals , that bumper to bumper and door to door bump and run style will suit him. ask fellow supercars drivers and I think they'll agree lol
It was clean because there was NO double file starts or restarts
He also did the NZ Rally this year got 3rd in class, and drives a midget in speedway, he's legit talented
The kiwi is the real deal cant wait for him to come over to cup for the 91 full time
They ain't going run 91 full time they probably don't have resources to run 3 cars ... 91 is only 2-3 times per year out of 40 or more races
Great race for Shane.
SVG unreal Performance
NASCAR should race on the streets of Sydney Australia.
let them take on The Mountain in Bathurst, SVG has conquered it
Homebush?
Shane’s win at Chicago makes me imagine what Nascar would look like racing in Australia. Even better, Nascar stock cars racing on V8 Supercar courses.
Was done 2 & 1/2 decades ago, with the Calder Park Thunderdome, A.I.R., and road courses. Didn't take off well.
Now that new NASCAR's are very similar to what the pre Mustang/Camaro V8 Supercars was, there's a chance, but it's about as much of a chance that EV racing has right now.
Larry Mac is the best, no one else is close.
The guy who came second shouldn't have blamed his car ! He lost far and square
Blaming the tyres, when SVG did him repeatedly with the Brakes. Though 2nd place clearly had a power advantage.
As you said it was a great race and extremely clean and that's what made it great now they raced that way because there was a wall on either side here's a wild thought put on inside wall all the way around on an oval wouldn't that be fun to watch just a crazy thought
Guess u need look at more oval tracks a lot of smaller ones and even bigger ones have close walls both sides .. u really think they want cars flying into the infeild ...
Sport I have forgotten more about racing than you'll ever know your lack of intelligence to pick up the humor in that comment somehow doesn't surprise me you have a great day
It wasn't fresher tyres that won VGN the race, he drove into the corners on variable lines that others wouldn't do because of skill level.
And tires. And timely cautions. And the two best cars wrecking themselves out in the final 20 laps.
It was a great run, but this did fall his way the last stint.
people might not realise how much differance his heel and toe shifting made
@@jason78981 I was going to say the same. Super car drivers know how to look after their tyres because they race similar surfaces to this all the time.
@@nomadman5288he drove up from 18th, passed guys with same age tires. Yeah the top 5 had older tires but everyone else he passed didn’t
Shane looked after his Brakes - Look at the passes, diving late in to the corners, and able to pull up because he hadn't killed the brakes already.
van Gisbergens current team 888 racing has come out and said if he wants to go to nascar in 2024 they will release him from his current contract
Wow! That would be interesting, I know SVG isn't happy with the new super cars. Maybe better for everyone to let him go if he wants too
If that's real, they should absolutely buy him out and let him come over.
Stuff that, 888 should lease a NASCAR team and join in under their own banner.
The routing of the track was great, so many street circuits are overly complicated which guarantees a wreck-fest. This was a perfect track for stock cars to show off their future street race credentials.
I knew svg for years am talking about when he was driving a ford in 2008 . He was driving a Ford falcon. He reminds me of Kyle Busch in the v8 in Australia, he’s aggressive and fast. But let me tell ya Scott is also fast he was smoking svg in v8
I think Scott Mclaughlin was the best v8 super driver
He's from New Zealand not Australia
He races in Australia, in an Australian series, for an Australian Team, driving Australian cars..
@@Hotsport_RugbySimulations he's a good driver but nothing to do with Kiwiland..
The Gizz still would have won with tyres that were 16 laps older than the 31's
they like bringing that up, every car had the chance to do the same
Another difference with the V8 Supercars… they have doors that open.
Nascar and Supercar should try and conglomerate their rules so that they can do lots of crossovers with teams and everything. Should also be allowed to drive on both the left and right sides of the car.
Rofl one dumbest things I read in a while .. a nascar is designed to survive crashes at 200 mph there is no benefits to anyone tryIng to make these cars the same ..
The Trouble with allowing left and right hand cars will be that teams WILL build both left and right hand versions of the cars to allow them to optimize for different race tracks. It was mooted in the 1980’s when BMW 635’s raced in group A.
Racing drivers who grow up in right hand drive cars end up learning to deal with sitting on either side. Open wheelers nearly always have right hand gear shifts, so we learn the challenge of changing gears with either hand. the only challenge after that is remembering how much metal is on the left or the right. I’d expect there’s no professional drivers in the UK, AU or NZ who thinks left or right is much of a challenge.
It’s been really disappointing to see how ignorant the nascar family was of the threat SVG would be. Give him a respectable car and they were lambs to the slaughter. The Giz was so cautious by any reasonable v8 supercar standard…
Gizzy! The King
"Knew when to give and take". Nascar will learn wrecking is not a race.
I feel like SVG did more for Australian V8 Supercars than he did for NASCAR.
V8 Supercars are no joke.
Repco Bathurst in October...Can't wait.
New Zealand in the house. Chur brother. Mauriora.
Heard ticket prices was about 3x more than a normal NASCAR weekend 🇦🇺
As a local I couldn't afford it. It was insane,. GA was $250+ No thanks. Going to see 3 races in Indy in August for around $150.
@@noahgriffith6163 wow that’s insane, highway Robbery..
Seats started at $465
@@jmiddlefinger Bathurst 1000 In NSW Australia would be half that for the Whole 4 days including camping.
@@noahgriffith6163US$250 is currently around AU$370. Yuuuup, you're getting robbed on those prices, and IIRC, US prices don't include sales tax, where Aussie prices are all-inclusive of state and federal taxes.
NASCAR made 100million dollars in this race
How many people did he have to pass to win how does someone get a spot after a crash thats bs the gizz embrassed NASCAR drivers
"you don't normally expect to see a good race on a street circuit" what are you on about, you know it's going to be a good race on a street circuit.
3:06 Sorry mate Shane is a Kiwi not an Aussie.
Yer but he means coming out of Australia from the v8 supercars series ...calm down they know he's a kiwi 😅
I really want to see some Americans come down and do our V8 series, maybe Bathurst.
It's pronounced 'Giz-bergen' , not Van Geeez-bergen...
I was thinking Geese burgen myself. But they were so proud of their efforts.
What do mean by you don’t want to see clean racing every week
Why only 75 runs
Shane-O-Track
Does this now mean that he’s in the chase?
Gizzzzaaaaaaaaa!
The race was enjoyable. Only thing I’d change would to drop the stages.
Australia has got the best drivers to race in NASCAR 👍🇭🇲 Justin Healey is no match against SVG.
Gotta be good for super cars too.
The bro Justin said the talent coming out of Australia 🤔🤔🤔 bro he is a kiwi not an Australian 😂😂
You don't see a great race on a street course??? You need to watch more street course races mate
Ha ha that's American ignorance right there ..God bless em 😂
*80 Career Supercars Wins
Street circuit and wet are the reason SVG win
As an Aussie who lives over here, I’m not at all surprised.
Talent coming out of Aus? excuse me :)) Fox News , not having facts .
svg drives left hand drive rally car heaps, so tht wasnt a huuge deal i reckon
Yeah but he said he struggled a bit with right side proximity and missing the apex on some turns.
Bruh not one of those hosts know anything about well jeez know what their talking about. Racers sperspective Bruh
Gizz ber gin . Your accsent may give you issues
He kicked yankee butt. Btw, he's from NZ.
Talent out of Australia????
He has been racing in Australia… yes he’s kiwi.
What do you call a famous kiwi?
Australian
Bloody oath
Just remember nascar refused to ban the confederate flag bruh svg you listening
One Street Race per Year Maximum. Don’t Ruin it.
Head in the sand still my man!
Oval Racing is why most people outside of the US don't bother with Nascar . Too Boring !
yeah keep the rest of the races just driving around and around in a circle like a hamster wheel. YAWWWWNNNN
@@mista2621 same reason some American fans don't like road courses, too boring
@@troygillum5 schoolyard comeback chump..
I hope we can get babk to what nascar was soon. This is the ninties all over again. Catering to people who arent nascar fans and changing the sport to fit them. Then when they find something new they are gone the same ole nascar fans woll be gone. You can scrape up whats left but those numbers will be smaller and smaller. Steve phelps has got to go
Worst race in nastycar history. No more street courses!
For every fan walking away they are gaining 5 more fans with this level of entertainment.
Go around in circles, yeh that’s great entertainment!! Lol
@432htz3 you really need to stop drinking. Nastycar isn't gaining fans fool, they are losing more and more daily with their stupidity, and this weekend is proof of that. The entire weekend was a joke and a poor one at best.
@richlounder2465 lol, well at least on an actual track they can race. This wasn't a race, it was a joke, and the jokes on fools like you.
Turning right as well as left has its advantages
He He.. a bloke from Land Down Under..
drives a car, NASCAR, he hasn't driven before..
On a track he has never raced before, in the wet and dry..
And goes from 18th to First, in his first race.. Why?
Nascar drivers just go in circles, no skill in that..
I wouldn't say that I mean first time nascar ever had really race in rain and top that being new track all drivers that never raced street course before
Oval racing is far from simple, and there's a lot of subtlety to it that goes way over the heads of people who have never experienced it in one form or another. I could almost guarantee that SVG won't perform as well in his first oval race - and then there's superspeedways which are completely different again... it's a different mindset, and one that he's never had a chance to experience thus far in his career. It'll be interesting.
I dont know man, draughting behind another car is a real skill. Especially when you are 1 foot behind a car and you also have another 1 foot from your rear end and another 1 foot away from your wing mirror and you are doing180 - 200 mph on the larger ovals Pretty sure he would do well on those circuits with a bit of practice because hes a natural at almost anything he drives. Congrats SVG. Super proud. From a kiwi Nascar fan.
NASCAR going round and round in a circle, wow how bloody boring, nowonder tv in NZ canned it
You don't need much talent to drive around in circles
welcome to V8 supercar racing America, thats what we get in Australia all the time. better than watching cars going around a oval track
Gizzy!!
