I was warned on multiple occasions at my hotel and taxi… do not visit George Street, and do not travel there alone. With no plans for the afternoon I jumped in a taxi and made my way there to explore.

The streets are so clean and all the trash picked up is very impressive...also that they have such nicely paved roads. This "scary" neighborhood seems actually so quaint and the people all seem so nice. Stay safe, Chris! Love your interactions with the local folks in the community. Hey Chris, you missed a great interview. The first man sitting in the barber chair is a doctor. He works in the emergency room at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, the main hospital in Belize City. Whoever would get shot in the streets, that's one of the doctors that would be taking care of them. Next time try to get introduced to everyone in the room. Since you're looking for somewhere else to visit, maybe you could visit the Hattieville Prison or visit Altun Ha and stop in at Maskall Village and the other villages along the way and speak to people outside the city.
There's a (Tilapia and bird) fair going on today and tomorrow in Crooked Tree Village, they're having dance/party tonight (10pm-3am). That would be a great opportunity to talk to some village people and see another part of Belize.

Hi Chris. I have many Belizean friends in California and I am planning on visiting soon. I was wondering if there's any open areas in the city where the locals could have community gardens. Maybe the recreational area you are dreaming up could include a place where there's a seed repository and tools so folks could raise food for the neighborhood. I started thinking about that when the sistren was asking for groceries. Anyone that works there can take food home. Maybe extra can be given away at little roadside stand. Nobody should be hungry in a place that gets so much natural rain.
In this city I don't see any open areas for a garden, maybe as you leave the dense city. But it is a great idea and i've seen it done successfully in Haiti.
The people’s in Belize unbrace Jamaican music a lot, this was shocking to me, I was soo surprised by dat…. It’s like I’m watching a video Jamaica, the only difference is the streets much cleaner & the roads are paved better 😉 respect and nuff love from Jamaica
There is a small Asian communitty here in orange walk in the guinea grass rosd going to shipyard the mennonite community

If you have the time Chris, go to Hopkins in Stann Creek district. It's a Garifuna community of about one thousand souls right on the Caribbean coast. Wonderful, proud people who speak Garifuna. Most are fishermen and farmers, but tourism has also brought in much needed dollars. I was there in '92 and electricity had just arrived. It has changed a bit, mostly for the better for the locals. You will love it there.

Most of my life I lived in Belize and I don't think I ever walked the streets of Belize City. Only drove and walked from my car to the supermarket or wherever I had to go. We went to Belize city maybe three times a year. I really enjoyed you talking to different people. Excellent work Chris you are gaining respect from everyone on the street.

I was told most Chinese in Belize City are Taiwanese. Belize is on of the few bountries that has recognized Taiwan as an independent country, much to China's chagrin.

I live in Belize all my life and totally being honest most of the crime that your hear about is Belizean against Belizean .. you hear about an bad area but we don't harm tourist.. most of the time the crime stems from local rivals that's all ..

I live in Belize e sure so e parts are dangerous but some parts are perfect I friendly neighborhood is bullet tree falls you should snap a picture at the bullet tree falls sign it has beautiful art
One thing i remember about belize alot of people ride bicycles and eat plantain chips.
