  • Introductory lesson on the Hedgehog Signalling Pathway in Vertebrates. The Hedgehog signaling pathway is important in embryological development of both invertebrates and vertebrates. Hedgehog proteins facilitate the activation of the hedgehog signalling pathway, inducing target gene expression in a graded and tissue-specific fashion. Activation of the hedgehog signalling pathway is critical for the proper embryological development of vertebrate species and has roles in tissue growth and mitogenesis of the cerebellum and retina, as well as roles in axonal development and homeostasis and tissue repair of adult neural stem cells.
In this lesson, you will learn about the importance of the hedgehog signalling pathway in vertebrate development, the mechanism of the hedgehog pathway and genes that the hedgehog pathway induces.

I was born in 1968, preaxial polydactyly . I have many associated anomolies also associated with my birth defect , yet not a named syndrome. Teeth abnormalities, unbalanced hormones , slightly tongue tied, small mouth and jaw . About 5 years ago, my healthy, happy , active, lifestyle came to a screeching halt! Literally, like the light switch got turned off. My doctor's do not want to believe that any of my symptoms could possibly be what so ever related to my birth defect . In November I was diagnosed with hoshimotos disease, hypersomnia, depression. If you have an interest , I would so truly appreciate any videos .

Why are gli proteins not phosphorylated in the primary cilium, and what's to stop them from being phosphorylated on the way to the nucleus, from the primary cilium?
