- As I'm playing New Game+ and trying to catch up my underleved units so I can use new ones, I realized how quickly it could be to level them up and found a really fast method that I figured I'd share. Feel free to let me know if you guys have any more ways to optimize it or figure better ways out!

I love the leveling in this game, it's not an annoying grind at all. They did a really good job of allowing you to keep all your units up to recommended level so you have a lot of options for team building.
It’s only because the enemies are level 33. Every character on every map that is under the enemy level levels up super fast
Absolutely love this game. I was reluctant to buy it initially but still somehow bought it day 1. This game quickly took hold of me with the story and characters. Plus the gameplay is dope. So glad I “took a chance” on this. About to start new game + and couldn’t be more excited

I don't think it's hard to find, but in case anyone is wondering; you should be able to find the vanguard scarf when exploring the mine during chapter IV A New Dawn.
I'm still on my first playthrough, so I don't know if this changes by route or conviction choice or some other factor.

@@LinkKing7 I think I am at the endgame, but seeing your levels make me think there are at least 2-3 more missins to go since my characters are around level 26/27. I love skill trees for characters and I love how in my army there are 4 archers because I feel their skills break the game, especialy sleep inducing ones, movement locking ones or stickiy arrow. I kinda wish I could put bosses to sleep, but that would be too op

Yeah this is how I leveled Lionel up kinda fast to get his money thing, its nice to kinda hear that I wasnt crazy lol

I’ve only recruited the archmage’s grandson and the acrobat so far, so I can’t wait to unlock everyone else!
The units are all so much fun, and interestingly enough those two characters were my first two recruits haha!
I'm only in chapter 7 at the moment (slow crawl due to time..) but Anna is my absolute best unit. First one I promoted too
Yea...the stealth move helps. Over a lot of ground and poisoning at a high rate makes her a must to have in main story battles.

BTW that game on hard is brutal, I was slightly underleveled and didn't change the difficulty level to normal from exp grinding and got decimated twice by that boss character and her healers in the harbour.

Wow, I had a feeling about how exp worked but I didn't think to do it like that. Thanks, because of that I started thinking about other exploits. Like using Lionel with golden pinkie ring at super low level mock battles to farm money. Cause lucky find is based on his level, not the enemies.
that sounds pretty funny and a good tip, I might have to look into how consistent that is vs just doing some of the higher level money maps!
Nice! I realized how balanced this video was when I found out that using Anna, you can chain an attack, then use take cover right after, to infinitely combo enemies. You do have to wait one turn for her TP to restore, but I used this on chapter 7 after the rest of my team got wiped, and managed to take down the boss using this alone
I've had a few hilarious interactions like that as well, a few cheese moments too. It's been fun to figure these kinds of things out
Hughette is my MVP on two maps, where she cleared at least 10 units each all by herself, because my party got wiped. She is pretty busetd, too and untouchable if you keep your distance with her.
@@mekudu-man3804 honestly same, they buffed the fuck out of chapter 7 from the first demo and about halfway through the chapter I just had all my units except hugette just suicide to kill the ranged units and just hugette just slowly chipped all the melee units to death over like 30 minutes
@@LinkKing7 wait so all I have to do is give any one of my units the vanguard scarf and they'll gain 100 exp.? I'm a little confused about the strat. I have Benedict at level 13 and he already knows the move Now!. I'm still on my first playthrough though, I'm on the chapter where I chose to report sorsley to Hyzante for his illegal salt trade, so I got roland back after surrendering him to aesfrost.
@@jacobmartinez5557 The vanguard scarf only guarantees that you move first, it doesn't guarantee the exp. You need to have a level difference between you and the "recommended level" on the map of more than 3 levels to get that much exp.
Assuming money isn't a hindrance for you, you could potentially optimize further by having Medina use her Fast Acting Medication skill
You can hold "R" to speed up game play btw....
@LinkKing7 What is your opinion about keeping exp and kudos even if you fail the mission?
I think it's fine, considering you could also just infinitely grind in the mock battles to get those too so they might as well let you keep what you got in battle
I started my next playthrough tonight and was annoyed to find out your units keep leveling. I think it’s a shame that their levels remain where you left them, because I basically got punished for not using everyone but having some units I kept switching out. This is enormously helpful! Definitely will do this, should be faster than having spent ALL EVENING, to get my unused units to level 20 (from level 5).
yeah same here I got to like late game with allot of my characters lv 5 and 8 and it's been extremely annoying lvling up the characters for late game

I do have a question though, I’m still early so forgive if this is dumb but is their a point where you know what path your on? Or is the game less like 3 houses and they’ll just be small differences based on your convictions? Thanks!
You will eventually get to choose your path, kind of, the game will make it quite clear. It's definitely not a small difference

Does xp gained change based on difficulty? I want to do NG+ on very each for the immortality plume but don’t wanna sacrifice levels
How are you fighting lvl 35 units when at lvl 24?
Will someone get 100 exp if just starting? I see your people are all double digits in exp
Nice optimization. So seeing as you finished the games first route what are your first impressions of the units. I've been pleasantly surprised about the unit diversity
I'm very happy with the fact that every single unit plays differently. Most of them have a great niche they can fill and are interesting, although there are a few duds but that's just par for the course, or I haven't learned how to use them properly.
@@LinkKing7 cool I can't wait till you run hough all the routes + get the final conviction characters and can give your thoughts. I myself have so far found at least 1 map for every character so that alone shows the good level and unit design for the game. Though I will admit I'm not finished yet so I don't know how much of a stranglehold the endgame can be.

Took me about 37 hours on Normal difficulty

Let us know if you have figured out what interactions during mock battles increase convictions! Apparently, you can grind to max them out!

How were you able to find an area where the enemies are so high lvl? So far everybody is my level or 1-2 levels higher
I was further along in the game progression and leveling up units I hadn't used yet via the extra maps you can run
Whic game is harder triangle strategy or octopath traveler??
They're very different, this is strategy, that is turn based, so it's very hard to compare. I'd say this game has a level of difficulty that isn't impossible, but it might take you a try or two to get a strategy together that works in some of the later chapters.

I LOVE videos like this--but recently purchased the game. Is this a spoiler free vid?
It is mostly spoiler free. The only thing you're at risk seeing are non-spoiler random conviction based recruit units. So if you don't want to see those, I wouldn't watch it, but it won't spoil anything in the story!
Dumb question, but do you not lose a quietus after using it once? I’m on my second playthrough now and I never used them on my first.
Also I’m disgusted that you would neglect my boy Archie and let him get that under-leveled
Oh and one more thing to add:
A lot of characters have weapon upgrades that lower the TP cost of certain moves from 2 to 1. Ezana is a good example. You can throw her into a super hard mock battle with the rest of your units appropriately leveled and just have her cast rite of rain/tempests every turn. She’ll get like 6 levels per battle while you farm upgrade materials

Yeah I no-life'd it pretty much over 2 days and just pushed through it because I was having a lot of fun so it's a good thing haha! There are multiple endings but I won't tell you the details and let you reach them yourself!

This game is the best of all time good on steam deck
I’m currently in chapter 6 or 7 on my first play through. My characters are level 6-8. Will this method work in my case, or do I need to do it on new game+?
as long as the level of your characters is 3 or more less than whatever you're fighting then yes it will work
You can also use Medina to give him another action, but that skill uses item but it isn't that expensive so I don't mind
How long is this game with just minor side quests and focusing on the main story? Great video btw!

Thanks for the Tipp, but doesnt that strengthen your resolve in one way quite strongly? I am currently within demo 1 area so i dont know yet how much conviction matters. Cant wait to watch your playthrough.
if you don't complete the maps it won't entirely increase your resolve, and the increases are actually rather small, +2-4 in different convictions or so
I dont get it at all. All you explained is how to give many quick turns. I have no idea where the absurd EXP comes from. I get 1-4 EXP per hit or 2-7 EXP per kill. Still takes me an hour for 1 level up.

So, how do you get the 100 exp for each action? I mean, the speed/action stuff is very clear, but some actions sometimes give me very little exp.
Its like I said in the video, you have to be 3 or more levels below the "recommended level" of the map you are playing
I'm currently on my second playthrough and due to reasons I won't elaborate on I need to level up a few characters I neglected so I'm watching this to help but unfortunately Beneadict won't be available for 2 out three battles I need to do.

Unpopular opinion but I make sure all my characters are at the recommended level per story chapter. Mock battles are a god send and specially if you're farming materials to upgrade their weapons.
Ohh and Anna, Hughette and Geela are the best girls just saying ❤️
I didn't do a single mock battle in my first playthrough just to prove to myself I didn't need to do ANY farming to beat the game haha. I was short on materials and money at the end, real poverty
Is there a cap to how fast a unit can go? ive equipped 2 speed amulet to narve to get him going first and it doesnt change his position in turn order and when it does its not by much
Yeah I'm not entirely sure what decides starting speed, the only one that guarantees it seems to be the vanguard scarf
Some enemies will move/attack first regardless of your character's speed stats. Equipping Narve vanguard scarf is the only way to get him to act first in battle.
I'm hooked on this game I'm committed to talk to the tavern lady to do the simulation battles does it keep farming kudos and money and does anyone know how to get past Rufus the NPC boss in this game
You can farm infinitely yes. As for Rufus, you just gotta kill him
Lowest is attack miss im fairly certain cause with that you don't even get 100 when 3 below

Thank you for this! Since you're more experienced in this game than I am, can you tell me what incentive there is to not lose any units in a battle? I am on Normal, and I have strived to keep everyone alive, but I haven't done any grinding short of running each mock battle once and trying to include some newbies for a chance at exp when I can. As such, even my team staples are underleveled for every battle, but I manage to get through (sometimes at the cost of a lot of health pellets). Since they don't die and I don't receive a score for each battle, is there really any reason but personal satisfaction to not allow units to fall if you'll win in the end?
Nope, losing them in battle does not matter in the slightest
@@LinkKing7 So far, I haven't felt like I'd truly fail a mission even if I have to sacrifice one or two to bad positioning. I suppose I can elect a challenge run on my next playthru where I don't let anyone go down.

You must know that by now but you gain a special item if you don't lose a single character in the whole campain :)!
If you beat the game with a "deathless run", you get a Plume of Immortality accessory which gives the wearer a 50% chance to revive when killed.
Im in the middle of playing the game, but I thought that lvling up units outside of the main battles wasnt necessary. I havent done any mock battles but I have realised that some units are under the recommended lvl for the battle... They die easily, even in *warning* "easy" mode (pd: story preference in the 1st playthrough).
I should try to lvl up some instead of squeezing my brain... for now.
I did my first playthrough on Normal and I didn't have to do ANY mock battles in my entire playthrough. I failed a few maps, but since the exp carries over I was eventually able to get through it. But now I want to use some other underleveled characters in NG+, so this was helpful for catching them up really quickly!

There are more than enough in NG+, so don't worry too much about it!
@@LinkKing7 Yeah, I am at the end now I think....And while some of the twists are cliche, they are handled to perfection, and some were not so cliche and took me off guard.
Basically, be underleveled and the obvious exp curve will level you up fast until the unit in question isn't severely underleveled. It doesn't get you ahead of the curve however.
It can mostly be used to catch up underleved units you didn't level before if you need to!

the most ezz lvl up is just straight up go to ezz mode xd
yeah you can do this on Very Easy as well but honestly, the difficulty doesn't even matter with this method, it's just that fast
@@LinkKing7 true the one i will never recommend is hard mode that is Hardcore im still struggling but i will definitely try to clear this i need to get travis and Cordelia LITTERY the only character I haven't get yet

This method is very convoluted and unnecessary. There are better ways to level-up units in general.

the real trick is to not do any skirmish and be underleveled. this really isn't that useful unless you avoid skirmish
