Releasing the Dragonfly from the Biodiverse Ecosphere
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 дек 2020
- In this video we take a look at the very biodiverse ecosphere. The dragonfly larva (Aeshna cyanea) is released. It ate a lot of the other animals in the closed ecosystem, and in the future we will see if the populations of the preyed upon animals will restore. The black flatworms (Dugesia lugubris) are doing very well and are breeding.
Enjoy!

• Gentle Mental Journey ...
A man who lost his soul and found his mind :- into darkness. Not very nice to the father. Voices say in going to hell jar man or woman. They say you're a cat who only knows how to play. Why are all cats the same?
I am inside your head and I steal your thoughts
And right when the world needed him most, he came back
Amen
Double Amen!
And unleashed the dragon(fly)
Return of the king!
The jar bender
2:14 the sniff test will always be one of the most scientific measurements, right behind comparing something to the universal scale, the banana
amen, buddy
You're absolutely right
The smell of wastewater etc. can be a telltale sing of a lot of thing and are actual scientific measures in such fields.
The sad thing is, this isnt even wrong. XP.
I had no idea dragonflies lived that long, let alone live that long as a larva
then look up cicadas and be mindblown
larval stage of many insects live way longer than the adult actually
does anyone else love his voice? I adore his voice but I really didnt expect it to come from such a young guy good on him
Young and handsome ❤
>I released a dragonfly lava in my own home
You're a madman.
But a sexy madman.
Jeez this whole time i thought you were a 40ish year old dude, but now all i can think is, "Oh no, he's hot!"
ikr!!😂😥
I literally said this out loud and went to the comments to look for anyone else
I saw this comment before seeing him and was like « mh, how handsome can he be ? » and then I saw him. Super cute. (But the very cool content is why I’m here anyway)
@@saulemaroussault6343 idk, find it alittle weird saying that about someone online, it would make me feel unforgettable...But yeah, he’s kinda cute lol
SAMEEE! he's very good looking!
I’m so proud of him for getting his own mansion
My boy made it out the hood 🤧
not really a mansion its an appartment in the "hood"
He’s moving up in the world :)
@@modedealer8155 its a minimalistic mansion in a vertical growing hood
That moment when being an absolute menace to society lands you in paradise.
wait a second, you're not a jiggly worm!!
You don't know what I am!

So from the perspective of everything in that ecosphere, the dragonfly was raptured by the god and moved to another plane.
Haha, pretty neat perspective. We really are a weird and curious species
"The gods have freed us from the giant beast, all hail the Giant Hand!"
-some copepods, probably
Abducted by aliens!
🤣🤣🤣
"And so the god of this world opened the sky and took The World Eater to another plane, the fate of The World Eater beyond that... is not for us to know."
I wasn't expecting you to look like a One direction star
Such a wonderful holiday gift to get a new life in jars adventure!

I used to have dragonflies on lease when I was a kid.

Every couple of moths you show up and I’m never disappointed
Counting time in moths? Interesting... ;)
@@egregius9314 In fairness, it really has been a rough year for us all.. LOL
You count time in moths? I count time in burnt strings
I've always imagined you as an old man wth dude
His tone of speaking is reminisent of a 20-26 year olds. I actually always figured he was pretty young.
Before his face reveal, which was a while ago I thought he was a middle-aged man talking in a funny voice on purpose. The first videos I saw of him had lots of jokes so I thought his tone of voice was a joke! I was not familiar with Dutch ways of speaking.
@@carlv1379 yes! That's what i thought as well. Also his choice of music for his videos sounds like that funny uncle. I haven't seen his last face reveal tho. But finding out that he is actually younger, his whole pearling segue from a past video makes sense now 😂😂😂
Life in jars guy is handsome ngl
Same haha

Uhm actually, you're sixth. Learn to count man...

Merry Christmas Mr. Life In Jars. Thanks for the Present! My ostrocods are celebrating for sure
Merry Christmas!
It's not a real celebration until the boogie worms dance! ; - )
@@LifeinJars what are your thoughts on a giant closed ecosystem? like the size of a terrarium? would that work? is it possible to have differing geography in a terrarium, like an area of dry land and an area of water? any advice apreciated.
@@bleddynwolf8463 the bigger an ecosystem is the less likely it's gonna crash when something happens (e.g. death of a big organisms etc) so a normal terrarium sized ecosphere should be thriving under normal circumstances. Also a variety of land and water parts ensure more biodiversity which in most cases also increases the chance of its survival. Haven't tried it out yet since it's winter here currently and that's not the best time for diversity in a pond, so I'd recommend for you to try it out in spring once he temperatures are rising (if you're a beginner with such things)
@@Bloodhound7 thanks!
A Christmas Miracle! I was just telling my sister today how much I missed updates from my favorite channel and I watched the biodiverse ecosphere videos earlier, what a coincidence!
Quite a coincidence indeed
I have two of those guys in my jar! It was super cool seeing them up close, they always dart into the dirt when they see me getting too good of a look
Jerks
"What a jerk." Lol. 😄
Just made my first ecosphere after watching your videos and So far I’ve found Lots of Copepods and at least 4 Maylfy nymphs!
Cool!
I’d honestly love to see more aquarium ecosystems. Larger ecosystems would be cool
Aquarium ecosystems are very interesting. I make videos about mine, you can check my channel if you want!
@@AcuarioCantabro I never even saw this reply I’m so sorry, I’ll check your channel out right now!

lmao
I'm pretty sure he was giving you a big cheezy grin when you zoomed in on him 🤗
I really like that he is handsome. I am fed up with the stereotype that us nerds always look like some cave trolls.
Yep me too
So are you handsome or a troll? lol
@MarkK Nah a nerd can be anything. You can be a computer nerd. Or a movie nerd. Or, in this case, a jar nerd.
But the point the comment is making is that people who are strongly passionate/devoted to their hobbies are usually perceived as shut-in losers lmao
@MarkK Literal definition of nerd is studious. Modern interpretation is moreso hobbyist. Also there's nothing wrong with liking video games or star wars.
If you think that's lame then I hope you find some passion or joy in life, man. Kind of bitter to hate on people for being into something different from you.
@MarkK
You seem to have a serious stick up your ass about fandoms.

Just when my day got boring and post christmas lunch angsty; here you are, saving me *looks at other comments* and a whole load of other peoples. Thank you for being here and making the day great!!
Thank you for watching!
Damn dude, I expected you to look nerdy, with glasses and such. You look dashing.
Woah! I’m early 😆 Glad to have you back my dude, I’ve missed your videos
I've missed making them!
You're clearly just opening an early Christmas present that you got for yourself!
Man, you’re so cool. Never stop being you!
Thank you for another great video! This spring I went out and made a few ecospheres, and one of them has a dragonfly nymph! Ours are at about the same stage as yours and this video cleared a lot up! Thanks again!
This is so interesting! And your voice is so soothing and calming.
The king of ecospheres is back! Thanks for the new upload and I hope you and your loved ones have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
You too!
Great content glad to see you still uploading

this is SO awesome. I love your videos.
Christmas day, a new video is uploaded to the 'life in jars?' channel, the jazzy tones put me at ease in an instant, life ain't that bad.
This music fits really well. I could probably just leave your videos on autoplay.
You back let's Goo
Love this channel. Yay!
Super interesting.
Cause, effect, and solution.
Hoping your little larva survived in the wild... Such a cute little creature and I never knew they lived so long in the larva stage.
So good to see a new video.
Awesome video like always 👍👍👍👍
that thing couldve got twice as big,, good call and im happy to see you back merry christmas!
Glad to hear that your hand is gonna grow even more
Happy holidays from Iceland!
To this day I still have no idea why you were recommended to me but I sure am glad you were!
That worm got the move👍🏻
Gotta say. Sometimes you really do just need to make executive decisions like this. It sucks to have to say that it wasnt sealed permanently from the beginning, sure. But this whole dragonfly situation and experience is part of the ecospheres story, now. And it serves as a learning experience for others looking to try this stuff.
Well said!
I also accidentally caught a dragonfly larvae when I made my second ecosphere. Unfortunately it died in a couple of days :(
There was a lot more plants in this jar then in my first one, but all died as well :P Good news is that some snails are still alive and 2 different types of little plants started to grow again, after most of them disappeared.
It was about 5 months ago when I closed the jar with pretty diverse lifeforms. Guess the snails won :) I wonder how long they're going to last.
Go snails, go!
Imagino a riqueza de vida microscópica, que deve estar presente aí! Parabéns pelo vídeo
Your channel has inspired me to start me own Jarrarium. I'm going to begin pretty simple, just by removing rocks, a few small plants and water from my Firebellied Toad Paludarium and putting them all in a jar. I've seen snails, copepods and tiny worms in there before, but have never gotten a good look at them.
Very cool young man, thanks for sharing 🐛🦀
I really needed this
Hell yeah my dude!! Dragonflies are sick af :)
Set up a stick above the water for him to climb onto when he finally transforms!
I have to make one of these now you and other ecosphere makers have inspired me to do so .It will join my woodlouse colonies ☺
love this stuff so much.
I hope the dragonfly has a good xmas
Merry Christmas 🎅

First time seeing your face~! I always assumed you to be an older man with a great sense of humour so it was a huge surprise to see what a hunk you are!!! Very handsome, yes... Very nice. 😁
Have been enjoying your videos for several years, you always do a great job and somehow keep on keeping it interesting. ThanQ.
My eldest son is just starting to learn biology at school. My other two children ran away when they saw the boogie worms. Merry Christmas life in jars man 🎄😊🍀
Haha that's funny. Merry Christmas
Wow, way younger than I expected. Since my own life is so dead lately, it's always nice to see more life in jars.

I love the background music fits the video
Amazing ☺️
Your videos inspired me to make my own ecospheres. I have 4 large ones and out of the 4 only 1 has failed.
Merry Christmas guys
Happy holidays first of all!
I've been looking at your channel for quite a while now and plan to commence my first ecosphere soon. I was wondering though; if you lack flora from the environment you take from originally , what is your next step? Do you consider plants generally used in aquaria/non-aquatic plants/...?
It has been so long since I've found myself watching one of your videos
I missed it.
