Gotta be one of you most quick and to the point videos yet bro! The info here is exactly what I would've loved to have the info for when I started my collection. Great stuff man 👍💯
Got this list down really good! I'm waiting for a pair of Wesco Mister Lou's in a reddish tan leather as my 5th. First was Iron Ranger 8111, Second/Fourth was a Thursday Black Chelsea, Third are all my Red Wing and Danner work boots (I'm a Gas Distribution Tech). My current 5th pair are Red Wing Wacouta in red oil briar with green canvas.
Boot #5 for me is Nick's Overlander in Oiled Tan Latigo. Sort of general purpose but honestly my favorite go to boot! Love that firm tempered veg tan leather and the patina has been awesome! For me it is lightening rather than darkening. Boots #1-4 are in the collection too. I don't really have a Chelsea, or Western boot, due to the fact I never found one that worked for me. #5 if I can ever get an M-43 from John Lofgren in Natural Shinki, a man can dream... Kreosote might win out though.
I'm going with the simple brown Service Boot, but on the dressier side, and planning on stopping there. I'm planning on getting two pair of Grant Stone Diesel Boots in Cognac Ostrich. If the Meermin Shell Cordovan boots came in Color #4 then I'd break down and add another boot.
I've been watching your videos for a few weeks after picking up a pair of Thursday Cavalier Chelsae Boot's. I love them so much that I decided to order a pair of the Captains in Arizona Adobe. Just putting this out there as a PSA for other potential buyers. I would NOT recommend ordering directly from Thursday, but instead save yourself some headache and order through Amazon or another reseller. Thursday's Support is awful, and very hard to get in contact with. Additionally, I ordered my boots over 2 weeks ago, and still have not received the package. I never received shipping confirmation, so I reached out to customer support, and it took them 4 days to get back to me. They couldn't provide shipping details, but said they would reach out to the wearhouse. Keep in mind, I ordered Boots that were in stock and ready to ship. Now I've received a second order confirmation, and when I check my account I see they duplicated my order, still hasn't shipped... Look, at the end of the day, Thursday Boot's are high quality, and look great. Just don't buy from them directly. I bought my cavaliers on Amazon and received the boots 2 days later. Thursday doesn't seem to have the capacity to fulfil direct orders in a timely manner. Cheers!
That's weird because I had the exact opposite experience. Ordered a pair and got tracking info the very next day. My boots unfortunately had a QC issue, so I reached out to support. They got back to me within 24 hours with a return label and a $10 gift card as an apology. I was tempted to order through Amazon, but I generally try to order directly from companies assuming the price is the same to avoid having Bezos eat into their profits.
Only 2 pairs you need are a quality daily driver and a pair of black dress boots. Not some tacky thing like a Chelsea, but either a traditional dress boot or a dress cowboy boot. Black can be worn with denim if you want, but if you have to go somewhere formal that requires black ( like a funeral), then you can't wear brown, but you can wear black for either. - Make sure the dress boot is a really good one because you only "need" 1 pair ever. As a texan a black gator cowboy boot is my go to dress boot, and i have a matching gator belt. They were about 2000$ and custom fitted. You can get them for about 1/3rd of that if you dont want them custom. Daily drivers are rokker urban racers because i ride my bike most days. I also have iron rangers both in a dark brown. - After you have those 2, then you can have fun with it, but id highly recommend getting those 2 situated first.
I have snow boots, brown service boots (need to be replaced soon), and a new pair of black rugged Chelsea boots. Need to get new western boots which are my go to for jeans.
Good list. I’m more of a western boot fan, so I think my list would require one cow hide western boot (could be the “casual brown” from this list), and one exotic leather (could be “dress boot” but if definitely a “unique boot”).
Mine: 1. Crimson Cxl Grant Stone Cap Toe 2. Black Thursday Cavalier 3. Fudge Jim Green Barefoot African Ranger Numbers 1 and 2 cover the brown & black boots and can be dressed up in a pinch. Number 3 is a fantastic work boot for me, and I love barefoot construction which makes it personal to me. Can not think of a single reason I'd ever need another boot.
Crimson Diesels are a cornerstone pair. Good pick. I have way more expensive, dressier and also PNW pairs, but the crimson Diesel is so versatile, trail hiking, city walking, all the way up to business casual with a sport coat. A sleek Chelsea, and a cap toe heavy duty service boot with lug soles will round out a small collection. A work boot to me is appropriate if you work, or if you already have these three basics and want to look like Ryan Gosling.
In the other category, I really like Palladium Boots. They are useful in a lot of different applications. They can even be dressed up with chino and khaki pants.
Got two out of the "three" done - Chippewa Paladins and Thursday Titans. Next on my list, "dress boot" but I think Ill go with Beckett Simonon for that one.
I'm a rookie, wearing the Thrusday Stomper (as I type) as a work boot while I'm waiting for my Nick's Tactical; I'll eventually use this as an off duty casual boot in my black rotation, the other will be a Grant Stone black waxed Commander (I like the silver hardware and not a huge fan of the brass hardware on the Diesel black chromexel). Not really a fan of brown but liking the waxed Logger from Thrusday's US line but they don't run in 11.5
I am going to say, it really depends on your lifestyle. Some guys don't need a dress boot, some don't need a dedicated work boot. For example, if you don't get dressed up that much, if you already own a pair of dress shoes, chances are you won't need a dress boot. And if you are not doing a ton of physical work in your life, you might get buy with whatever boots you have on hand. For example, for shoveling snow in winter, I pull out my Duluth Jack Pine winter hiking boots. Anyhow, my top 5 are a pair of heritage service boots which in my case are the Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill, a pair of Chelsea boots which in my case are grey waxed suede., a Chukka in brown with a lug sole, and a black dress chukka with a leather sole which I wear with a suit. Those are my top 5. Honorable mention goes to my Allen Edmonds Dalton which I love, but don't wear much, my Allen Edmonds Normandy in Black which is a service boot, and Burnished tan Chukkas I wear as a change of pace from my brown Chukkas.
5 boots for me happen to be: Timberland Redwood Falls (everyday beater) Wolverine 1000 miles (dressier versatile) Redback chelsea (work boot) Grant Stone Brass Earth (cold seasons) Lowa Zephyr (hiking) I love each and every of them :) Probably will buy a dressier chelsea to complete the list 🤔😅
What color boots do you suggest to wear with khaki dress pants? I'm getting married in August it's a pretty casual wedding on a beach but I want a pair of boots for the reception.
Hey man it looks like we are the same shoe size, just wondering about your opinion with the grant stone Chelsea-earth option. I believe you mentioned you would have preferred a 9.5 in the rm Williams, and also in the GS Chelsea on the uk last. Do you think I should go for the 9.5 if I go for 10d in all other GS also in your previous video awesome squat pr 165 kg that’s crazy is it ATG no belt ? I just got 160 front squat no belt
I still don’t have a brown service boot because any time I plan to get one, I just get distracted by some moc toe or a chelsea boot or a cool work boot. Some day I’ll make an adult decision and pick up a Diesel or a President in brown..
The first four are so interchangeable you could cover most uses with two pairs. You also need a walking hiking boot. I have four pairs of dress boots because I wear them everyday day with a suit. They all work with jeans. But I also have three pairs of more rugged boots that also work with jeans in a more casual setting.
I can see the thought process, but I can't help but cringe whenever an influencer makes a list of apparel people "must" buy. I would have sooner broken down the list into collections of different sizes (e.g. a 1 boot, 2 boot, 3 boot, and 5 boot collection), offering options at different price points. The reality is that most people definitely don't "need" 5 boots. This could also be split out into a series of videos since otherwise a single vid could get quite long.
Honestly, tac/combat boots are a must have. The Nike SFBs I have are like walking on clouds but have been through some serious terrian/abuse and just look better for it.
I'd say 2. A good quality daily driver and a black dress boot for formal occasions like a wedding or funeral. Black can be worn just fine with denim too.
Nobody outside The Tool Box, or Fire Island clubs, would ever be seen in cowboy boots over here. The rest are wearable though, and I have most of them. European sensibilities are in line with American work boots, just not the male stripper Lone Ranger stuff 😁
It seems odd that you used the Redwing Chelsea boot for the work boot section, called it ugly then used the Thorogood Moc Toe in the same category? Why not use the OG Moc Toe work boot made by Redwing instead of the ugliest boot Redwing has ever made? lol Just curious.
I wonder why in all your videos 📹, even with Rose Anvil, etc you guys never rip apart those $150 boots like Merrell, Rockport, I have a lot of Pacific NW boots, I bought some Danner Slip-on Bull Runs on Black Friday for $160. I use the Merrell Slip-on to wash my cars and pretty much just destroy. I wish you guys would shred them apart. 🎉
Work boot is the first and only boot a man needs. The rest are for enjoyment or looking good. You don't need a boot to look good at church you need one for getting things done. No need to finish this video.
Thumbnail and title do not match at all. It looks like this vid should be called "The Only Boot You Need," or "Ditch the Rest of Your Boots for This One."
Only boot Id even wear would be the iron rangers / and Roughout from Tecovas. All the others are Not ones I’d even consider wearing in my lifetime. U def didn’t include handmade boots like Lucchese / Rios of Mercedes. Or the king of cowboy boot comfort “Chisos”

How about sport boots? Like hiking or hunting

For me, #5 is a chukka. Can't get enough of the design and they're so versatile.
Women also need good boot recommendations too. Boots are my favorite type of footwear, to boot.
Where's the jacket from?
Thursday, I have a link in the description
Wow I really need to stip wearing tenna shoes...i need to get into boots with jeans and flannel.
Mine:
1. Crimson Cxl Grant Stone Cap Toe
2. Black Thursday Cavalier
3. Fudge Jim Green Barefoot African Ranger

Any recommendations ,,,,,,,,

I have a pair of Wesco engineer boots I love them. My next pair I want to get is some red wings moc toe boots.
Ooo great choices
I chuckled at you wearing White's for yard work... you quickly addressed it lol
Wesco Engineers = NICEness.
Unique boots for me are some Role Clubs Lace To Toes Type 2 in brown horse hide ruff-out.
Fantastic content... Thank you.
Man fuck RUclips. Fuck boots and everything else. Your intros are so mature and professional. Getting straight to the point.
Do you wear boot?
Got two out of the "three" done - Chippewa Paladins and Thursday Titans. Next on my list, "dress boot" but I think Ill go with Beckett Simonon for that one.
Fantastic choice!
I would have guessed a casual or smart-casual chukka would have been top of the list for city dwellers.
How about a zip up boot? The Thomas Bird Phoenix looks great.

Right on
Well, other boots can fall under that category like the service/heritage boot or a logger boot.
@@jamie91995 I don't think I would ever go hiking in a logger boot. My feet only have mere bones holding them shits together.
@@davidjohnston4345 I just wear my heritage boots, but I'm also not doing a hard-core hike, more of just a dirt path
Not everyone likes to go hiking my guy
But I don’t really like laced boot…what do you think?
So far I have the Allen Edmonds Higgings Mill. Brown. Love them.
Got the service boot (iron ranger) and moc toe (Diplomat). I'm headed the right direction I think
You most definitely are!
5 boots for me happen to be:
Timberland Redwood Falls (everyday beater)
Wolverine 1000 miles (dressier versatile)
Redback chelsea (work boot)
Grant Stone Brass Earth (cold seasons)
Lowa Zephyr (hiking)
I love each and every of them :)

Great collection right there!
Recently found your channel - really enjoying the content!

Do you think Black Thursday president boots could suffice with a suit? I have a black and grey suit that I never wear except rare occasions.
What color boots do you suggest to wear with khaki dress pants? I'm getting married in August it's a pretty casual wedding on a beach but I want a pair of boots for the reception.
Got a few Thursdays. Just got the vanguard color 8. Got the redwing 8111 and a frye Tyler lace up as well. 🙏

Oh man new suscriber here

1. Brown service boot- check (Thursday President)
2. Dress boot- want (RM Williams comfort craftsman)
3. Work Boots- check (Danner Bull Run Mocs Steel Toe)
4. Would never wear black boot (NA)
5. Interesting boot- Want ( LL Bean Boot- Chamois lined)
Me owning a single pair of boots :D
Then ordered another from the same brand, same size, and the 2nd one was waaay bigger so had to return it

For a LOT of walking, I like the thuroughgood.

Thought for sure that chukkas would be on the list.
Insulated Winter Boots
IDK why at 2:51 I flinched as if I was taking fire.
Rm Williams, list done.
Of course black and brown....but, black cherry or oxblood is also right up there for me.
I would also have a waterproof boot there. I don't know if any of those are waterproof.
What about a fighting boot??? Something you can remove a dictator in, kick in a door with, stomp a face or just clamber over obstacles in??
razor back
A pair of urban loggers and I'm set to go for anything

Booyah!
Hard to find somewhat dressy boots that aren't super sleek. For slightly bigger guys, sleek boots just look kinda awkward imo

A man doesn't need 5 boots. They "need" maybe one, but words like "need" and "must" are overly dramatic
I respectfully disagree. You can never have enough boots!
What would you use that one boot for? I could make an argument that if you need one you need at least 3
I'm so glad you clarified this for me. Really saved my marriage.
I'd say 2. A good quality daily driver and a black dress boot for formal occasions like a wedding or funeral. Black can be worn just fine with denim too.
