if you had a museum like this with a utterly useless laser system like this, you would be fired for being incompetent. Cool scene, but zero basis in reality. Security systems do not work that way.
In fact the scene is not fake, when vincent cassel was 20 he travelled to Brazil to learn capoeira, and it was his idea to use capoeira to dodge the lasers :). He did this scene and the only fake thing are the lasers which are made by computer. Vincent Cassel= AWESOME
You mean irl or for the movie? Because this type of security system is not real, at least I can find no evidence whatsoever that they exist anywhere but Hollywood. We have laser area scanners at work. The idea is to prevent anyone from standing in a certain area so the machine cannot harm them. It scans the entire area (could be up to like 50 sq feet or more) constantly multiple times a second(entire area is scanned in like 50 milliseconds) with no visible beams. You could never, ever outmaneuver it.
Amazing man, I never knew that!! This is by far my FAV scene in the movie!! And the music is usually stuck in my head for days after watching!! :D I didn't even know about Capoeira until 1992 when I saw Only The Strong with Marc Decascos, another great film and really opened my eyes to this style of martial arts!!! Its beautiful!!

Same. I felt like 12 was the weakest of the Clooney-Pitt Ocean's trilogy. Would've been better if it turns out, he has a group of ppl working for him. Would of been an epic crew vs crew fight.
That's what I like about the movie. It wasn't the same as eleven. They made the "villain" better than the protagonists. He was simply better and only lost because they tricked him and LeMarque helped.
He was more skilled as a thief but Danny/Rusty obviously proved themselves to be smarter and strategically better than him as they got what they wanted by just pulling off a simple trick.
Vincent Cassel, the Nightfox, said the day after they did this he couldn't walk. I can see why! That looked hard but it was so amazing! Everyone did a great job especially Vincent and the Cameraman and the Director.

One thing I love about this scene, is that it gives a very subtle nod to Entrapment where Catherine Zeta Jones has to do a similar stunt, who is also in this film. ❤
I like how out of context it seems like he's just a fellow thief bragging about heist techniques, and Danny seems genuinely impressed-- in context, the sarcasm is so good though haha
I would love to be the police investigator who gets to watch this on some security camera while looking into how some thief got through...and at the end find my jaw wide open.

The only part of this movie I truly enjoyed. The movie was written in such a way that it left the audience out in the worst way. This felt like one of those films where the writers tried to be too clever because of the success of the first one. I will never forget this scene because it was so amazing.
So people that make museum security systems have never heard of motion detectors? Because it seems like motion detectors covering the whole room, instead of lasers only sweeping a very small part of the room at a time, would have stopped the guy from breaking in.

That playful heel kick at the end. Bravo Vincent.
Great dancers gotta pay homage to those that came before them. It's tradition.
It would’ve been hilarious if that kick tripped a laser wire.
Now let's see him do the Resident Evil laser hallway.
The lasers would move around him
Or "Entrapment" (one has to think with Catherine Zeta-Jones in this movie that THAT movie had some kind of inspiration on this scene as well)
Those lasers were like, ‘You move, we move’.
YIKES!
Oh dude no. Not even jorah mormont or walter steel could dodge them.
