I know this video series is a little old, but i just wanted to say, after searching hours of videos this was the first very detailed one ive been able to watch. Thank you so very much. I started my 1448 conversion this morning and will be basing mine on yours good sir!!
@michaelthompson888 Thanks for the feedback. This series is definitely one of the best series I've put out on the channel. Good luck with your build. Enjoy the process!!!
YES SIR!!!! That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!! The boat is officially christened. You should have given those fish a walk around the boat before tossing them back, lol. Man, your brother got me geeked up commentating at the beginning. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat waiting on a catch, lol. Way to go. I do enjoy watching you guys fish. In the immortal words of Stan Lee, Excelsior!!!
Congrats on the maiden voyage with your fresh ride, it really looks great on the water! Glad you were able to land a couple during tough conditions, many big bass to come! Looking forward to seeing your extra mods!
Thanks Ian. The boat is performing well. Feels great. Too bad I couldn't finish it in the Spring when the fishing was better. Looking forward to some great fishing too come.
Boat looks awesome! Super satisfying to watch y'all fish out of it after all the building, Im sure it feels twice as nice to catch em. Look forward to watching y'all hook up on some big girls in it!
Looks great. I hope to get to that point someday were i can justify building my own Jon boat. I have a canoe with a troller motor but it is really nice being able to stand up on a Jon boat to fish.
Thanks. Standing makes all the difference to me. You can see much more and it helps when landing the fish. But hey, you are out on the water and that's all that matters.
Good job started watching u r vids saw the reveal and now ur in the water. F the haters. Jealous. No better feeling than seeing all your hard work coming to fruition. Its amazing bro!!! Wow good job and congrats
Nice Job Man. I've been watching for a few months while working on my own project boat (6 months in), can't wait to land my first fish. I'm the Keys, so a little different fishing target, but fishing is fishing. Thanks for all the vids.
Nice job my man! No skunk!! Boat looks great and floats! Lol... I was fishing around the ramp this evening and caught two... picked up 5 at clopper earlier this afternoon. Water temps are dropping and the fish are getting a lil more active.
I love the jon boat very much, my girlfriend and I just got our john boat as well, 16ft and I'm about the throw down and rewire and redue the deck of it. I hope to share it with you as well
Awesome man congratulations. Great to see her out on the water. Fun fact I cought the fist bass in my new kayak last weekend. Right behind were you guys were in the outro of some down timber on the same drop shot rig you had. Its crazy to watch somewhere you have cought fish on someone elses youtube.
Hey Cornell. It's hard to quote a price because it all depends on what you include in your build. It can be a budget build or you can spend $3,000 or more. Then add in motor(s) and fish finder(s) if you need them. doing it yourself definitely gives you the flexibility to decide how much you spend.
Fishing in Maryland in August....the struggle is real but at least you guys caught a couple and got rid if the skunk. Cornell makes that drop shot over there look easy hahaha. Whats the next series about?
That thing is sick brotha’! Good job on the build! Can’t wait to get mine done. Building a 1977 mon arch 1652 flat Jonny, I hope it turns out half as badass as yours did. I’m curious, where your at? By the way, there is a way to have the switch lights on your panel to only come on when they are switched “ON” if you change the existing pin location on the back of the panel. I found a vid here on YT, sure you could find it if you search.
Thank you for the videos, really great work sir! Now that you have it on the water what changes / mods would you have made? I know you are coming out with more on this topic . . . ? I am working on a boat myself and wondering . . . 1. How is the carpet holding up as it was applied to the bench seat directly? (Over painted surface) 2. some other builds use some serious water mitigation in the hatch/dry storage compartments, is this something that you have found to be worth to effort in future builds? would you advocate for something to this degree?
Great questions. The carpet is holding up great. One thing I noticed is its not as plush anymore with use and sun wear. I went with 16 oz carpet for thickness and comfort but I'd prob go with 20 oz next time. I would also leave my hatches a little tighter than I did. The hatches will naturally open and close smoother with use so no need to have them completely loose with the initial install. Regarding water mitigation. I've been caught out in storms twice so far and my hatches took in minimal water (droplets). I did bore holes is my hatch bins just in case though. I could see where building dry hatches makes sense if you plan to fish in the rain or live in an area with allot of flash storms but for now not worth the effort for me. Do differently... From a weight standpoint I would look into all aluminum decking instead of wood. My wood is holding up perfectly but I know I could have saved on weight using aluminum. Just something to think about from a weight and speed perspective. Heavier boats ride slower with small engines. All in all everything is performing great and I'm VERY satisfied.
@@BassBrothersFishingDMV Thank you for the reply, Intriguing thought on the aluminum versus Ply for the decking or subfloor for that matter. . . What gauge aluminum do you think would foot the bill? .08? less/more? BTW what was the thickness of the ply you used for your build? Thanks for the content, thanks for the inspiration!
Awesome !! Just awesome !! Congratulations y'all !! Lots of hard work went into it !! It looks AWESOME !! Now put that motor on it, and roll on !!😁😁✌👍👍😉😉🖐👋 A DINK is a fish !! 👍👍😁
This is the flat bottom which is very stable. But you sacrifice speed if that's important to you. I wanted stability more than anything else so the flat bottom does that.
Bass Brothers Fishing DMV I love your boat and I love how wide it is. When I’m older I would love to have a little affordable boat such a as a Jon boat, and I would like to convert it to a bass boat as well. But one thing that I really want is a side console. Do you think it would be possible to put a little side console on a boat like this. If I’m able to put a side console on a boat like this then that boat would literally be my dream boat.
Congratulations guys. I enjoyed the video. It's to bad you didn't have better luck but I appreciate that I'm not the only one who goes out fishing for 5-7 hours and comes away with only 1 and sometimes none. Looking forward to more videos. Will you still be using the Bass Raider 10E at all?
Yea man we all go through tough days. Especially here in Maryland. Absolutely... I still use the Bass Raider. There are at least half a dozen lakes around here that are hand launch only lakes. Love that little boat.
Its about 50/50. I use the seat less when I'm running the gas motor but when I'm on electric only lakes the seat comes in handy cause I'm up front on the trolling motor all day. I will say that the seat gets in my way little cause I like to stand and move around the boat allot as I fish. I'm not really a sit down and fish type of guy.
Nice work guys! Been watching your build for some time. IMO, that looks like the perfect size and model platform for two people. What’s your opinion on stability. Is yours a modified V front or standard flat Jon style? Thanks 👊🇺🇸
@@PrimeTimeFishingwithRobG I don't think deck makes the boat more stable. If your boat is unstable before adding a deck it will be unstable after. The deck only helps you fish easier. If you want stability focus on the style of boat you're buying. I.e. flat bottom vs v-hull. Flat bottoms are the most stable jon boats.
Watch enough bass videos and that island is unmistakable 😀

Just getting on the water is awesome, boat looks great and looks like a lot of fun. Best of luck.

Bro so excited to finally see this boat on the water! Watched a lot of the build videos, they were great!
Thanks Sam.
Woo Hoo! Nice play by play calling from your brother.... haha.

Thanks Richard.
The boat seems to be fairly stable with the two of you fishing. Good job guys 👍
Boat looks great man!
Thanks
Awesome boat man. You're an inspiration. I'm shopping for my first boat and I'm going to mod it but it won't be nearly as cool as yours!

beautiful lake and boat.. just moved up to SC from south florida. sold my 22 ft offshore boat, and can't wait to get a jon boat

With two adults on the jon boat and the decking mods, was there any wobble in the boat? How high off the water did the Jon sit?

Hey
Mink. I have a gas motor for it. I'm in the process of setting it up and breaking it in. Stay tuned.
How stable is the 1448. I’ve notice It has a 70 inch beam which is quite big for a 14ft Jon boat. I’d imagine it’s pretty stable.

It's flat bottom which gives the most stability. Fishes two to three people comfortably. It's a wide 1448.
Where's that new motor?
I put it on the boat after this video since this lake has electric motor only restrictions
What model 1448 is this? Is it a mt?
I was wondering one thing in all the videos I've been watching I've only seen y'all put one seat on each build
I may put another seat in the back. It'll be part of my past 2 mods. I wanted to find my rhythm before adding something I may not need.
How much did that all cost
check my reply to your other comment. Great question.
