Probably because this is almost the only place the 5000m is run, it’s hard to qualify for this meet and those who do qualify still do not have much experience racing this distance. The winners last lap was 62, which is almost 10 seconds faster than all of the other previous laps, so it was definitely a technical race.
The contrast.🙂 I just came here after watching the video of people ging nuts because Parker Valby, the greatest college women distance runner of all time, “destroyed” the college record of 15:01 that was set back in 2009, by running 14:56. And here are some high school boys that run a race that beat her time by nearly half a lap that people are wondering why it was slow.
How old are these runners?
15 - 18. They’re high school kids.
@@repsaknivek Thank you.
Let’s go Joey Carroll
Agreed
Surprised it was so slow

5k on the track is typically a tactical race especially for a championship
Idk man seems pretty quick for high school. Might be a faster one at different natty
Simmons runs 13:25 with the pros and now will go on a 2-year hiatus.
The contrast.🙂
