If you scroll through all his videos the earliest one is 8 years old and in another one of his yt shorts says he’s been training for 10 years so he definitely just says that to drive engagement
@@oliverleibbrandt8067 you gotta realise, with these very elite level college athletes, 'no training' to them means not training intensely for the past couple of weeks or even a single week, whereas to an average casual runner or someone who doesn't run at all, no training means literally no training for months and months or even years. It's just a pretty annoying miscommunication really elite level athletes, if they skip training for 2-3 weeks, are usually far from their PR's - look at season openers for example where 100m sprinters with PR's of low 9.8s are running 10 flat at the start of the season, same applies with sub 4 milers who might not be able to sub 4 when out of practice by even a month
You'll have like 10 years in your physical prime to train, I bet you could do it if you train consistently and avoid injury. You only need to drop around 3 seconds per year.
@@talentlesscommenter1329 Yea im training by myself rn hoping to get recruited or something and ive been def getting faster, i ran a half mile in under 2 minutes and i plan to run a 1k in under 2:30 as a next goal and get low 4:20s in another mile attempt.
Heading toward sub-15, then new goals to conquer. Go, Spence, go!

@grayrob123, imagine.
