    The process of broadcasting cycling is amazing. My brother who has been doing the moto at TDU for more than 15 years, explained it to me.
    Video is transmitted from moto to helicopter or plane which is then sent to outside broadcast unit which then sends it to satellite to be broadcast to televisions around the world. All of this done in a matter of seconds.
    Technology at its best.

    Thanks for this. Bagioli is from my area, we ride on the same roads so im obviosly a big fan, i saw he ended the stage 20 mins late and i figured it was due to a crash and this was a really unlucky odd one, i cant believe the organizers allowed big rocks like that on the road.

    • @shitfer
      @shitfer 2 года назад

      Not sure what those are. There's another on the left hand side of the road parallel to the one Bagioli hits. They might be foundations for pylons/markers, etc. Look up the road during the crash and there's a random cone placed the same distance from the edge of the road. Maybe it's covering another? Who knows. Another unnecessary crash that could have been avoided by the organizers with a little forethought.

    I know right....it feels as though the season never ended before it starts again, it's probably because we have had the pleasure of a fantastic winter cross country season that filled the void perfectly,
    the crash could have been caused by a number of things when riding on gravel like a small stone jamming between the rear wheel and the frame for a split second causing the wheel to lock and at 30mph your going to notice that sudden lock up, anyway yet another great race for the beginning of the season.

    Don't think gravel sectors have a place in a road stage race. It looks like in the last few years race organisers are trying to outdo each other to include them everywhere possible... The thing is, if you race in a one day race like Strade Bianche for example, you have a significant length of gravel sectors, so you choose your equipment accordingly, with wider tyres, more compliant frame... On the other hand in a stage race, a small gravel sector can cause many crashes, put race favourites out of contention or a race all together. As it's not very wise to ride gravel sectors with 25c wide tubular tyres pumped to 140psi. Perhaps guys running tubeless might benefit in the gravel, but will give away few watts of rolling resistance everywhere else in that stage. As you can't run more than 85psi, even less with hookless rims. Riding wider even wider tyres will have bigger trade offs on the road for a small benefit in the gravel. It seems that road races are slowly turning into gravel races. If you want to race gravel, get a dedicated gravel bike a sign up to a gravel race instead. There's plenty out there..... rant over lol
