Sorry Andy I can’t agree here. Tigra works well but even the best champs get stalled when he’s a 7* r3. Kushala and Chavez need specific metas or they don’t take him too fast. He’s pretty much a guaranteed loss unless your opponent messes up and his counter pool is too limited for bg. Even his best counters take 60 + seconds which no other champ does

@@Lialia_99 even in past metas without extra buffs i would do kushala vs serpent in 50-60 sec, it’s a very very good matchup. always 100% health finish as well with her regen on block (that’s more than can be said for bullseye, who is almost guaranteed to chip a few % off from his ideal counters of sunspot, bishop, onslaught, etc)
If it requires a countering champ and a relic at the ready to occupy Serpent for a long enough time during his death immunity phase to avoid being smacked by an sp3 at the end of the fight, that's too much "requirement." If relics had never come to the game, none of you would be singing this "don't nerf Serpent" song because it would be nearly impossible to beat him without taking major damage right at the end of the fight and a potential loss. Relics were intended to be an enhancement for us and for the champs they are bound to. Otherwise, why would we potentially pay real money for them? So I don't agree with Kabam using the lack of a relic as a flanking weapon against us. That is going too far, and if the community doesn't shut that shit down now, Kabam will continue to design champs like this where a relic is "required" to win the fight in decent condition, all while the relic development program has been shut down for the foreseeable future. The development of the game should continue as if relics don't even exist. That way when you have a relic equipped, it is genuinely a bonus and not a "necessary" feature that is "required" to complete certain fights without a loss or major damage. Overall, Serpents current state of tuning is bad for the majority of the community, and this kind of champion design around relics or the lack of relics must be discouraged now before Kabam abuses it and continues developing more champions around the concept of a "necessary" relic while simultaneously NOT developing any new relics. I'm not suggesting that they nerf the legs off of him, but that powergain during death immunity is too much if it "requires" a countering champ and a relic. That's not balanced, fair, or fun, and those of you that are arguing against a rebalance for Serpent are only making that argument because it frequently gives you a competitive edge in Battlegrounds, which is selfish. If Kabam were to remove relics from the game today, all of you would be whining and bitching about Serpent by tomorrow, and you know it.

what if Kabam made it so that we (as a community) could have a ban/white list for BGs each season? Then for the WILD metas like the archaos one where serpent would go unblockable and 1 tap you with a special, we could ban him, and then the next meta you would be fine? That would make it so that the busted defenders wouldn’t always be the top of the top because they’d be able to be banned, but that they’d also be manageable for the metas that make them stupid? I feel like that would be a good solution personally because it’d make more roster depth since not everyone would rank these champs as they get banned and then the community could be happy in metas that make fights feel impossible
@@gameguyry4687 i’m not a big fan of the whitelist idea because kabam doesnt plan their metas around certain champs - for example in archaos meta if serpent were blacklisted, then he would be whitelisted the next meta which is extend (arguably even a worse meta to fight serpent in) and people wouldn’t be able to ban him there if they don’t want to fight him
@@andrewtheruff that’s totally true, but i still do feel like a BG season champ ban could be a good idea (as well as your 3 bans per match) for a bit of a safety net. it would also make it so that champs that people struggle with as they come out (like enchantress for example) could be “banned” while people learn how to fight her as well as having their match bans to ban say serena or bullseye, etc

Ok you referencing Tigra gameplay, neutralise drops their AA by 100% correct, this guy has 125% defensive AA for that Death Immunity to work so he still has 25% for it to trigger whilst being neutralised, the guy has a handful of counters and none of them counter him completely they either counter his death immunity by chance or his power gain at said point, they nerfed Bullseye on Def, and he has many counters Iceman, Sinister, Bishop, both Storms, CGR can do him, LDS, Warlock, Weapon X, Kushala, oh and let’s not forget Negasonic who counters his kit completely but he needing tuning down? Now I myself have a R3 awakened Serpent so I’m not one of those talking because I don’t have one, simple fact is they can never talk on Herc again since they left Serpent as is
his death immunity isn’t the worst thing in the world, it feels quite short if you have a relic ready. and tbh all of those bullseye counters are quite bad, aside from negasonic and kushala. they’re either going to be extremely slow, or almost guaranteed to lose 10% or more of their health in block damage from an r3 bullseye. i’d honestly rather fight an r3 serpent over an r3 bullseye, it feels easier to put up a higher score when using an ideal counter. but fair point about herc 🤣 i think everyone stops saying he needs to be nerfed
@@andrewtheruff losing health through block damage, most champs will lose just as much against R3 Serpent and his block damage, especially since his block penetration is already high and then most run Block Pen stat focus, as for champs being slow in taking said fights, there is not a single champ…..yet, that is quick and guaranteed to take Serpent, there’s always that 25% chance Tigra & Wiccan won’t work ideally, Rintrah on paper should be the best attacker against him due to his neutralise increasing to 200% against Cosmics, but he’s not all too reliable on his crits and Serpent also has high crit resistance, Luke Cage can shut down his abilities but he’s as slow as LDS is for Bullseye, his death immunity is a slap in the face personally, they made the rebalancing program to stop another Herc, but the main thing that makes Herc “OP” is his death immunity buff, which can easily be nullified, staggered & fate sealed, can the same be said for Serpent? Now there’s no reason to hold back on 7* most champs
Love you bro, but hard disagree. As for the comparison to OP attackers, several you mentioned are 6* locked. For Juggs, who isn't, he is easily stoppable with nodes or abilities(like Serpent's fear debuff) that place non-damaging debuffs. I understand the intent and need for challenging defenders, but he could've been slightly tuned down and still remained a monster defensively against players outside the top 5% in the game.
the thing is the top 5% needs real defenders too. we can just keep placing r3 maestro or onslaught on defense to have them nuked in 30 seconds by CGR 🤣 sure he could’ve used a small defensive tunedown, but with how minor it would’ve been it probably wouldn’t even matter. everyone is losing their mind over it still 🤣
The people here justifying serpent is hilarious Name one champ who can stall as long as he can. Name one champ who counters pretty much everyone in the game and can even stall his “best” mystic counters. Undexable, coldsnap immune, heal block immune, burst reduction, crit reduction, massive power gain, massive regen, a full 12 seconds of immortality that can’t be turned off by anyone with a 100% chance, stun immune on specials, immune to pretty much every mystic form of control, turns of unblockable so champs like Tigra are less efficient, one of the biggest health pools in the game, counters evade and miss I’m so tired of people bringing up bullseye and onslaught and photon when they already had champs that cooked them super fast before they were even released. Who works for serpent? Chavez? Oh you need good crit rng. My r3 takes a while against a r5A (punching down) and serpent has massive crit res. Kushala? Too long of a fight unless additional buffs are in play. She counters the block damage and does good damage but no way to turn off the immortality. Sym takes 70 seconds plus, so does Wiccan, WT can do the fight nicely but she isn’t guaranteed either, Tigra works but you need a cooperative AI and there’s still a chance his death immunity procs. Luke? He’s still too slow. Unless you’re both fighting serpent you’re gonna lose to time or eat a special 3 So yes the community is justified. Anyone claiming he’s balanced is wrong. There isn’t a single champ with this much defensive bs packed in who can’t be taken down fast and pretty much guarantees a round loss in bg
i think you’re downplaying how good some of his counters are: kushala does that fight in 50 seconds in a normal meta with complete control, wiccan takes 60 seconds, tigra can do it in 40 as a 6* champ (imagine when she becomes a 7*). i’ve showed how simple it is to manage his death immunity with a relic in case it triggers. i never said serpent is balanced 🤣 i said he’s OP, but that’s what makes him good. we need OP defenders who don’t get nuked by every OP attacker once in a while.
@@andrewtheruffkushala cant do a R3 serpent in 50 secs outside a buff meta like the last one...also tigra can't do it in less than 70 sec with decent health against a R3, Fin tried to do that against you, took him like 78 secs(yes he neutralized the death immunity too), same with wiccan, he was decent in that buff meta, even than it was not particularly too great.. Not to mention these are some of his biggest "counters"

Everything will be fine. Eventually Kabam will release a super hard counter. This is what they do. The only thing I have against Serpent and it's not really his fault, is the AI's design for champs to not throw specials and power gain straight to L3, that's annoying!

if you don’t have a counter to bullseye and maestro you also die. i’d argue serpent counters are better at countering serpent than bullseye counters are at countering bullseye. at least with serpent you can finish at full health

@andrewtheruff bullseye will do a bit more chip damage but there are many champs who can nuke him in 30-35s which is impossible with serpent. Getting 50k points against bullseye is very achievable but I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen a serpent fight with over 50k points. I’m someone who watches quite a bit of battlegrounds too. Also bullseye has like 3x the counters serpent does and maestro even more. I’m not a fan of the “draft a counter or lose” concept but at least with those other champs it’s very unlikely for you to be caught without one.

True he is newer, though only 2 months newer than bullseye. The reason they have so many more counters is not due to new releases but due to them being less restrictive. Serpent has so many lines in his kit that are there sheerly as a middle finger to champs who should be counters to him. (Fear debuff and juggs as an example lmao) the instant dot resistance and immunity to nullify and stagger rule out so many potential options, it’s silly. And yea they definitely have been going in the “draft counter or die” direction, tho thankfully I’m not a celestial player so I can just choose to play less lol. Unfortunately that’s been the case more and more lately.
I don’t have 7* serpent and I agree with Andy , I’m not banning him at all and have 2 accounts , he is much more manageable than you think , if you don’t know how it doesn’t mean there is no another way . DLL told on stream that he asked to make number 1 defender in the game and he did his job great , and even if kabam agree with “nerf” him believe me the nerf will not be so good for you the same as Bullseye , people who asked for nerf still getting kicked in the ass be him . I've been saying this since the news of serpents rebalance came out, the problem is not him but the nodes themselves. Everyone says he was an auto win the last couple gc metas, but forget almost every string defender was an auto win as well unless you drafted the perfect counter. Kabam doesn't need to look into rebalancing serpent but needs to look into how they combine nodes and how defenders interact with them better to avoid situations where certain defenders would be auto wins no matter the counter.

Battlegrounds are essentially a CCG. Binary OP champs (card) such as serpent and bullseye, where they can be auto wins on defense without and even WITH a counter are unhealthy. Draw the card, win the game. Dont draw the card, potentially lose the game. Watched my favorite game of all time die because of ridiculous overtuned cards just make the game so low skill, (Gwent) I don't want this to happen here. Serpent needs a very mild power gain tune down, associated with his sig. Be real for a second my man.

Kinda disagree about the Juggs part. Yes he is an amazing attacker but so many nodes make him worse, still good but worse. Also some of the broken 6* you mentioned Serpent completely counters. The opposite of Juggs is Serpent, he only gets even more dumb with nodes. I think the extend BG node is still fresh on people minds too. Also, showing arguably his two best counters(I'd throw Chavez in there) and having them as high ranked as they can be and then telling everyone he isn't that bad to fight makes no sense to me. Of course if you use his best counters and play as godly as you do it will be easy, but that is not the case for majority of us. Very few people run Wiccan and Sym Supreme and Tigra's playstyle isn't for everyone. Limiting his counters even further. I think one more thing people are upset about is that we all know the next Mystic champ is going to be a hard counter that we all need to acquire which means $$$ for our Kabam Overlords.
it’s true the game is evolving to need hard counters - maestro and bullseye are prime examples alongside serpent. if you don’t get a counter you die, and that’s why we rank up their counters to deal with them since they’re so dominant in bgs. i get not everyone can rank up 5 different counters specifically for every meta defender, but if they want to excel in bgs it’s the way the game is going

Totally agree dude I wanted the new Korg/Domino type defender for the foreseeable future and they definitely delivered. I don’t wanna hear nothing about no nerfs. I have Jugg, I think he needs a nerf. I also think Herc, Kate and Hulk needs a nerf. I think Serpent needs an adjustment. His death immunity abilities duration (power gain and health) need to be capped and could not be changed by a node. Any nodes/meta that increase buff duration should not apply to his death immunity.

@andrewtheruff well he’s designed to be a 5/5 defender, and he’s currently far past that. Keep in mind that maestro and onslaught are also designed as 5/5s, and he’s currently closer to a 7/5. Obviously 7/5 isn’t accurate to their goal of 5/5, which means he’s an overtuned champ.

Still tho, maestro and onslaught are probably top 10 defenders in the game. They may not be 5/5s anymore, (I personally would give them 4.5/5) but compared to serpent they’re 3s. I just think it’s bad for game balance to have one champ be so far above the rest that he raises the ratings for defender strength. I’d rather them keep the ratings consistent and balance the champs that go too far rather than change the standard for one champ.

I absolutely agree with you - I made a similar comment on Lags video before your video came out (or I saw it). I was nervous to bc I agree with him 99% of the time. I’m nowhere near your guys skill level - I’ve been playing longer but I just became Paragon a couple months ago and I’ve never made it all the way to GC in BG’s. I’ve got a 6* R5 Sig 200 Serpant (Ascended) and while he’s a great defender I also love him on attack. My favorite attacker since Silk which caught me off guard as I didn’t know he was that great on offense. Monthly EQ’s are my fav content so I like diff things and left an alliance years ago and never looked back. I think calling for a nerf is a slippery slope and risky 🤷♂️ anyways great video 👍
of course no one complains about op attackers, even the best ones still find trouble matching to an op defender. Even though they are overpowered on attack they still can be slowed down or even shutdown by nodes and shit. Juggs, one of the most crazy offensive champions just CAN'T take serpent(I mean he can but are you really going to a sp3 to sp2 and still don't win cause haha 10s immortality that's nuliify immune) there's no point in having a champion that NEEDS a counter, otherwise you can't win against him, mf have a thousand defensive abilities + the nodes that sometimes make it even harder. If the point is to creating champions that are impossible to fight without a counter, than you need to create a champion that counters that one completely, because that's what serpent did, he made 80% of the mystic class useless against him. Don't really care if he's getting nerfed or not after the huge backslash Kabam got, just mad that there are pretty much no sense in the scale they are using to justify their points.
and i’m sure there will be a full hard counter geared towards serpent soon, just like they did with bullseye. before negasonic or the sinister buff, no one could cheese bullseye and finish full health like they do
the problem is even a lot of the counters are not even completely counters. tigra (dumb block damage in most fights, inconsistent ai, have to keep up neutralize on sp2 or literally instant death) kushala (solid counter but most kushala players take damage, no counter to power gain) sym supreme (good counter but rare 7 star and not used commonly, also still not very fast) mojo (needs ramp) rintrah (it’s rintrah, you’re gonna throw 3 sp2s before you crit) spidey supreme (uncommon champ, 6 star locked, very small healthpool) wolf (very solid counter but slow fight even if you have a r3 wolf and block pen adds up even with high healthpool and regen) white tiger (i think she works relatively well idk but still pretty uncommon) wiccan (works well but small healthpool and also not very common) and chavez (arguably his best counter, pretty safe but not very fast). So obviously he does have counters to some extent but they basically all have an asterisk even without taking bans or nodes into consideration. A lot of these champs will still consistently lose you rounds even if you play perfectly and put up 48-49k (due to block penetration and time), one mistake or bad ai will cost you the match entirely
that’s true, serpent is supposed to be a competitive advantage on defense though. he’s far from impossible to win against though, this is where strategy comes into play for battlegrounds and you need to sequence defenders in a way to trap your opponent with a worse matchup than yours

I think the people that want him nerfed are unhappy with the inconsistency of some chaps having a lot of power creep while other new champs getting shafted entirely and the balancing program just going "yep were not changing shit lol ,get fucked " ,serpent is not the end all be all of annoying defenders hes annoying and a wanker same as bullseye and maestro but manageable albeit tedious to fight. I love you Andrew but you're not considering the fact that you're a top end player. To 80%+ of the community he is incredibly hard. Also the main frustration for me is the inconsistency from Kabam, they tune down Bullseye (albeit barely) but still did something and he's not at hard as Serpent. Plus they always complain about how they should nerf Herc when ironically in many ways Serpent is the defender version of Herc.
i get that he’s hard to fight for most people, but just giving my own opinion 🫡 the harder the defender is, the more rewarding when you put up a great score against them

He’s pretty much a guaranteed loss unless your opponent messes up and his counter pool is too limited for bg. Even his best counters take 60 + seconds which no other champ does

@@Lialia_99 even in past metas without extra buffs i would do kushala vs serpent in 50-60 sec, it’s a very very good matchup. always 100% health finish as well with her regen on block (that’s more than can be said for bullseye, who is almost guaranteed to chip a few % off from his ideal counters of sunspot, bishop, onslaught, etc)

If it requires a countering champ and a relic at the ready to occupy Serpent for a long enough time during his death immunity phase to avoid being smacked by an sp3 at the end of the fight, that's too much "requirement." If relics had never come to the game, none of you would be singing this "don't nerf Serpent" song because it would be nearly impossible to beat him without taking major damage right at the end of the fight and a potential loss. Relics were intended to be an enhancement for us and for the champs they are bound to. Otherwise, why would we potentially pay real money for them? So I don't agree with Kabam using the lack of a relic as a flanking weapon against us. That is going too far, and if the community doesn't shut that shit down now, Kabam will continue to design champs like this where a relic is "required" to win the fight in decent condition, all while the relic development program has been shut down for the foreseeable future. The development of the game should continue as if relics don't even exist. That way when you have a relic equipped, it is genuinely a bonus and not a "necessary" feature that is "required" to complete certain fights without a loss or major damage. Overall, Serpents current state of tuning is bad for the majority of the community, and this kind of champion design around relics or the lack of relics must be discouraged now before Kabam abuses it and continues developing more champions around the concept of a "necessary" relic while simultaneously NOT developing any new relics. I'm not suggesting that they nerf the legs off of him, but that powergain during death immunity is too much if it "requires" a countering champ and a relic. That's not balanced, fair, or fun, and those of you that are arguing against a rebalance for Serpent are only making that argument because it frequently gives you a competitive edge in Battlegrounds, which is selfish. If Kabam were to remove relics from the game today, all of you would be whining and bitching about Serpent by tomorrow, and you know it.

what if Kabam made it so that we (as a community) could have a ban/white list for BGs each season? Then for the WILD metas like the archaos one where serpent would go unblockable and 1 tap you with a special, we could ban him, and then the next meta you would be fine? That would make it so that the busted defenders wouldn’t always be the top of the top because they’d be able to be banned, but that they’d also be manageable for the metas that make them stupid? I feel like that would be a good solution personally because it’d make more roster depth since not everyone would rank these champs as they get banned and then the community could be happy in metas that make fights feel impossible
@@gameguyry4687 i’m not a big fan of the whitelist idea because kabam doesnt plan their metas around certain champs - for example in archaos meta if serpent were blacklisted, then he would be whitelisted the next meta which is extend (arguably even a worse meta to fight serpent in) and people wouldn’t be able to ban him there if they don’t want to fight him

Ok you referencing Tigra gameplay, neutralise drops their AA by 100% correct, this guy has 125% defensive AA for that Death Immunity to work so he still has 25% for it to trigger whilst being neutralised, the guy has a handful of counters and none of them counter him completely they either counter his death immunity by chance or his power gain at said point, they nerfed Bullseye on Def, and he has many counters Iceman, Sinister, Bishop, both Storms, CGR can do him, LDS, Warlock, Weapon X, Kushala, oh and let’s not forget Negasonic who counters his kit completely but he needing tuning down? Now I myself have a R3 awakened Serpent so I’m not one of those talking because I don’t have one, simple fact is they can never talk on Herc again since they left Serpent as is
his death immunity isn’t the worst thing in the world, it feels quite short if you have a relic ready. and tbh all of those bullseye counters are quite bad, aside from negasonic and kushala. they’re either going to be extremely slow, or almost guaranteed to lose 10% or more of their health in block damage from an r3 bullseye. i’d honestly rather fight an r3 serpent over an r3 bullseye, it feels easier to put up a higher score when using an ideal counter. but fair point about herc 🤣 i think everyone stops saying he needs to be nerfed
@@andrewtheruff losing health through block damage, most champs will lose just as much against R3 Serpent and his block damage, especially since his block penetration is already high and then most run Block Pen stat focus, as for champs being slow in taking said fights, there is not a single champ…..yet, that is quick and guaranteed to take Serpent, there’s always that 25% chance Tigra & Wiccan won’t work ideally, Rintrah on paper should be the best attacker against him due to his neutralise increasing to 200% against Cosmics, but he’s not all too reliable on his crits and Serpent also has high crit resistance, Luke Cage can shut down his abilities but he’s as slow as LDS is for Bullseye, his death immunity is a slap in the face personally, they made the rebalancing program to stop another Herc, but the main thing that makes Herc “OP” is his death immunity buff, which can easily be nullified, staggered & fate sealed, can the same be said for Serpent? Now there’s no reason to hold back on 7* most champs
Love you bro, but hard disagree. As for the comparison to OP attackers, several you mentioned are 6* locked. For Juggs, who isn't, he is easily stoppable with nodes or abilities(like Serpent's fear debuff) that place non-damaging debuffs. I understand the intent and need for challenging defenders, but he could've been slightly tuned down and still remained a monster defensively against players outside the top 5% in the game.

Name one champ who can stall as long as he can. Name one champ who counters pretty much everyone in the game and can even stall his “best” mystic counters. Undexable, coldsnap immune, heal block immune, burst reduction, crit reduction, massive power gain, massive regen, a full 12 seconds of immortality that can’t be turned off by anyone with a 100% chance, stun immune on specials, immune to pretty much every mystic form of control, turns of unblockable so champs like Tigra are less efficient, one of the biggest health pools in the game, counters evade and miss
I’m so tired of people bringing up bullseye and onslaught and photon when they already had champs that cooked them super fast before they were even released.
Who works for serpent? Chavez? Oh you need good crit rng. My r3 takes a while against a r5A (punching down) and serpent has massive crit res. Kushala? Too long of a fight unless additional buffs are in play. She counters the block damage and does good damage but no way to turn off the immortality. Sym takes 70 seconds plus, so does Wiccan, WT can do the fight nicely but she isn’t guaranteed either, Tigra works but you need a cooperative AI and there’s still a chance his death immunity procs. Luke? He’s still too slow. Unless you’re both fighting serpent you’re gonna lose to time or eat a special 3
So yes the community is justified. Anyone claiming he’s balanced is wrong. There isn’t a single champ with this much defensive bs packed in who can’t be taken down fast and pretty much guarantees a round loss in bg
i think you’re downplaying how good some of his counters are: kushala does that fight in 50 seconds in a normal meta with complete control, wiccan takes 60 seconds, tigra can do it in 40 as a 6* champ (imagine when she becomes a 7*). i’ve showed how simple it is to manage his death immunity with a relic in case it triggers.

Not to mention these are some of his biggest "counters"

Everything will be fine. Eventually Kabam will release a super hard counter. This is what they do. The only thing I have against Serpent and it's not really his fault, is the AI's design for champs to not throw specials and power gain straight to L3, that's annoying!

@andrewtheruff bullseye will do a bit more chip damage but there are many champs who can nuke him in 30-35s which is impossible with serpent. Getting 50k points against bullseye is very achievable but I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve seen a serpent fight with over 50k points. I’m someone who watches quite a bit of battlegrounds too.
Also bullseye has like 3x the counters serpent does and maestro even more. I’m not a fan of the “draft a counter or lose” concept but at least with those other champs it’s very unlikely for you to be caught without one.

True he is newer, though only 2 months newer than bullseye. The reason they have so many more counters is not due to new releases but due to them being less restrictive. Serpent has so many lines in his kit that are there sheerly as a middle finger to champs who should be counters to him. (Fear debuff and juggs as an example lmao) the instant dot resistance and immunity to nullify and stagger rule out so many potential options, it’s silly.

I've been saying this since the news of serpents rebalance came out, the problem is not him but the nodes themselves. Everyone says he was an auto win the last couple gc metas, but forget almost every string defender was an auto win as well unless you drafted the perfect counter. Kabam doesn't need to look into rebalancing serpent but needs to look into how they combine nodes and how defenders interact with them better to avoid situations where certain defenders would be auto wins no matter the counter.

Battlegrounds are essentially a CCG. Binary OP champs (card) such as serpent and bullseye, where they can be auto wins on defense without and even WITH a counter are unhealthy. Draw the card, win the game. Dont draw the card, potentially lose the game. Watched my favorite game of all time die because of ridiculous overtuned cards just make the game so low skill, (Gwent) I don't want this to happen here. Serpent needs a very mild power gain tune down, associated with his sig. Be real for a second my man.

Just because you, a person who spend hours a day on this game can counter him, doesn’t mean he isn’t overpowered. You can counter him cuz you play this game everyday and have spent a lot of money on this game that had led you to have probably most of the champions in the game, which makes it “easier” for you to counter him. Kinda disagree about the Juggs part. Yes he is an amazing attacker but so many nodes make him worse, still good but worse. Also some of the broken 6* you mentioned Serpent completely counters. The opposite of Juggs is Serpent, he only gets even more dumb with nodes. I think the extend BG node is still fresh on people minds too. Also, showing arguably his two best counters(I'd throw Chavez in there) and having them as high ranked as they can be and then telling everyone he isn't that bad to fight makes no sense to me. Of course if you use his best counters and play as godly as you do it will be easy, but that is not the case for majority of us. Very few people run Wiccan and Sym Supreme and Tigra's playstyle isn't for everyone. Limiting his counters even further. I think one more thing people are upset about is that we all know the next Mystic champ is going to be a hard counter that we all need to acquire which means $$$ for our Kabam Overlords.
it’s true the game is evolving to need hard counters - maestro and bullseye are prime examples alongside serpent. if you don’t get a counter you die, and that’s why we rank up their counters to deal with them since they’re so dominant in bgs. i get not everyone can rank up 5 different counters specifically for every meta defender, but if they want to excel in bgs it’s the way the game is going

If Bullseye did not get changed I don't think anybody would have expected a huge Serpent nerf but Bullseye did get changed so they set up the expectation of Serpent nerf. Anyways, nothing we can really do about it now. Give Spooky some pets for me!

I think Serpent needs an adjustment. His death immunity abilities duration (power gain and health) need to be capped and could not be changed by a node. Any nodes/meta that increase buff duration should not apply to his death immunity.

You make the argument of people wanting him to be nerfed because they don’t have him, but the irony is that the only reason you want him to stay the same is because you have him at r3 lmao. @andrewtheruff well he’s designed to be a 5/5 defender, and he’s currently far past that. Keep in mind that maestro and onslaught are also designed as 5/5s, and he’s currently closer to a 7/5. Obviously 7/5 isn’t accurate to their goal of 5/5, which means he’s an overtuned champ.

Still tho, maestro and onslaught are probably top 10 defenders in the game. They may not be 5/5s anymore, (I personally would give them 4.5/5) but compared to serpent they’re 3s. I just think it’s bad for game balance to have one champ be so far above the rest that he raises the ratings for defender strength. I’d rather them keep the ratings consistent and balance the champs that go too far rather than change the standard for one champ.

I absolutely agree with you - I made a similar comment on Lags video before your video came out (or I saw it). I was nervous to bc I agree with him 99% of the time. I’m nowhere near your guys skill level - I’ve been playing longer but I just became Paragon a couple months ago and I’ve never made it all the way to GC in BG’s. I’ve got a 6* R5 Sig 200 Serpant (Ascended) and while he’s a great defender I also love him on attack. My favorite attacker since Silk which caught me off guard as I didn’t know he was that great on offense. Monthly EQ’s are my fav content so I like diff things and left an alliance years ago and never looked back. I think calling for a nerf is a slippery slope and risky 🤷♂️ anyways great video 👍

of course no one complains about op attackers, even the best ones still find trouble matching to an op defender. Even though they are overpowered on attack they still can be slowed down or even shutdown by nodes and shit. Juggs, one of the most crazy offensive champions just CAN'T take serpent(I mean he can but are you really going to a sp3 to sp2 and still don't win cause haha 10s immortality that's nuliify immune) there's no point in having a champion that NEEDS a counter, otherwise you can't win against him, mf have a thousand defensive abilities + the nodes that sometimes make it even harder. If the point is to creating champions that are impossible to fight without a counter, than you need to create a champion that counters that one completely, because that's what serpent did, he made 80% of the mystic class useless against him. Don't really care if he's getting nerfed or not after the huge backslash Kabam got, just mad that there are pretty much no sense in the scale they are using to justify their points.
and i’m sure there will be a full hard counter geared towards serpent soon, just like they did with bullseye. before negasonic or the sinister buff, no one could cheese bullseye and finish full health like they do
the problem is even a lot of the counters are not even completely counters. tigra (dumb block damage in most fights, inconsistent ai, have to keep up neutralize on sp2 or literally instant death) kushala (solid counter but most kushala players take damage, no counter to power gain) sym supreme (good counter but rare 7 star and not used commonly, also still not very fast) mojo (needs ramp) rintrah (it’s rintrah, you’re gonna throw 3 sp2s before you crit) spidey supreme (uncommon champ, 6 star locked, very small healthpool) wolf (very solid counter but slow fight even if you have a r3 wolf and block pen adds up even with high healthpool and regen) white tiger (i think she works relatively well idk but still pretty uncommon) wiccan (works well but small healthpool and also not very common) and chavez (arguably his best counter, pretty safe but not very fast). So obviously he does have counters to some extent but they basically all have an asterisk even without taking bans or nodes into consideration. A lot of these champs will still consistently lose you rounds even if you play perfectly and put up 48-49k (due to block penetration and time), one mistake or bad ai will cost you the match entirely
that’s true, serpent is supposed to be a competitive advantage on defense though. he’s far from impossible to win against though, this is where strategy comes into play for battlegrounds and you need to sequence defenders in a way to trap your opponent with a worse matchup than yours

I think the people that want him nerfed are unhappy with the inconsistency of some chaps having a lot of power creep while other new champs getting shafted entirely and the balancing program just going "yep were not changing shit lol ,get fucked " ,serpent is not the end all be all of annoying defenders hes annoying and a wanker same as bullseye and maestro but manageable albeit tedious to fight.
Personally i like adapting and learning how to improve ,its a big reason why i enjoy watching your channel ,the attitude towards self-improvement but i can also see why people are annoyed when they have to keep track of new champs every month with a testament of the bible written as ability descriptions, where other older champs abilities are along the lines of "farts in your general direction and does a bit of damage(optional)"

I am not sure about r3 serpent but a r6 serpent can be taken by titania and tigra easily and if it’s a 7star serpent there’s high chance that he is not that max sig which means that death immunity wont last long as 6star one
I love you Andrew but you're not considering the fact that you're a top end player. To 80%+ of the community he is incredibly hard. Also the main frustration for me is the inconsistency from Kabam, they tune down Bullseye (albeit barely) but still did something and he's not at hard as Serpent. Plus they always complain about how they should nerf Herc when ironically in many ways Serpent is the defender version of Herc.
i get that he’s hard to fight for most people, but just giving my own opinion 🫡 the harder the defender is, the more rewarding when you put up a great score against them

My only gripe, and it’s not even about Serpent it’s about MCOC as a whole, is the power scaling. I feel like GODs in comics should all be OP. Thor, Odin, Heimdall, Loki.. they should all be extremely OP. That’s my only issue. But yea.. I agree with Andy
