- Fishing for sockeye salmon in the Big River Lakes of Alaska. This was a fly out trip from Alaska West Air in Nikiski, AK. Fishing trip and lodging arranged by Foster's Alaska Cabins.

Absolutely gorgeous footage and fantastic video editing Terry. I'll bet that was a blast on that light tackle. Those fish look like they will wear you out quick catching a few of them. What was that lure you were using and how was it rigged up?
Thank you :) It was a blast, and those salmon can put up a fight. Too bad I had to return home... lol. The lure was really just a hook and weight. The salmon does not really hit anything they are just always swimming with their mouths open and closing. We use what is called a flossing technique to try and hook them in the mouths.
@@GoneFishing2 so that's a nail sinker I think is what it's called? You can actually see the fish to target it's mouth? The water looked discolored. I've heard of flossing from some guys I know that go to salmon river every October.
That may be the name for it. We could not see the fish so there is some technique and some good luck involved.
U should have left Angie at the house and took me lol just kidding those are nice that looks like my way of fishing 🎣 Angie you are a great angler very proud of you.terry better keep an eye on you cause you are doing better than he is .I think I would be afraid to go with you cause you would out do me . Alaska is a beautiful place.i hope one day I will get to go there , it would be nice to live there and do that every day. Thank you! Angie did very well and yes, she may just out fish you... lol. Alaska is so beautiful and awesome to fish. I did some trout fishing there as well and caught some beauties. Will work on releasing that video soon. We will be at Big Tumbling, Cedar Springs and Crooked Creek for the next few days. Come join us!
