Dad and I traveled to Alaska for some epic trout and salmon fishing! This was our first time ever visiting Alaska and our first time ever flying! It was an amazing experience. Alaska is such a beautiful state with some world class fishing. We fished with our guide Steve from Ninilchik Charters and we stayed at Soaring Eagle Lodge. We fished on the beautiful Kenai River. We caught some rainbow trout, dolly varden, coho salmon and sockeye salmon. Our stay in Alaska was absolutely wonderful! We can't wait to go back :)

Glad you and your Dad got to go on this trip. Once in a life time trip. I got to go and fish the Kenai with two of my sons twice! The older son lived in Anchorage at the time. Once with a guide in the drift boat and once what Alaskans call combat fishing. 200 people 20foot apart, everyone with a big salmon on their line at once. Both an adventure but I prefer the drift boat. I would love go back and do a trip like yours. Enjoyed your video.👍👍

As someone who didn't like fish roe, I have to say that fresh trout and salmon roe seasoned with soy sauce (sake optional) is delicious!

Amazing trip. The west cost of BC and the Fraser Thomson River BC interior are on my bucket list for chinook, sockeye and koho as well as the epic sturgeon.

We just did the same trip in July. Stayed in Soldotna. One of the most beautiful places on earth. Alaska lived up to the hype.

This was such a awesome video to experience I really want to go to Alaska soon to just fish those rainbows are so beautiful and the dollys look amazing also and I could literally see thousands of sockeye too bad they weren’t biting that well but such a amazing video!!!

My home state. Would be out there fishing myself but pretty sure it’s still frozen so I’m watching videos waiting for summer. Love it when tourists and people come up here and meet them on the river last year we met an older tourist couple out in the kenai who have been here before and have family but never caught a fish and they ended up not catching one while we were out there so my little brother gave them one of his can’t wait to go back out to the kenai this summer

Not sure. I know it was floating fly line with 10-12 lb fluorocarbon leader attached to it.

9’ 8WT fly rods. Ugly stik and Pflueger.
Used to fish silver salmon and dollies' when lived on Adak Island Aleutians back in 1975, 1976, and 1977... freezer full of fish in those days...made homemade bread, made my own butter... beautiful memories. Had a tug of war with bald eagle once. It swooped down and snagged my silver salmon I had caught... it took off flying away until my line broke.. took my fish and lure.. sheesh

What works best for the Kenai rainbows?
Beads is what we used. We used 6mm and 8mm beads. Peach colored beads worked best for us.
