The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

There's so much footage of his acting, yet so little of his interviews and off-screen moments. I'd love to see more of Mr. Gable's interviews to know about his personality!
he's an enfp 7w8 - here's a list of other people of that type;
Dr Seuss, Russel Brand, Jack Black, Israel Adesnya, Jennifer Lawrence, Debby Ryan, Carrie Fisher
this was all set up, yeah. no real candid footage that i know of. it was the era. cary grant didn't do any recorded interviews, period
He rarely did interviews, he was a very private man.
@@braylenconner3 it was all non disclosing back then, like over 99%. today i would say it's down to low 90th percentile non dislosing. which doesn't sound like a lot but it is
Came here looking for the same!!!!
RIP and long live Clark Gable (February 1, 1901 - November 16, 1960), aged 59
You will always be remembered as a legend.
As a 14 year old in 1960, I loved this movie & vowed to someday visit
Capri, where it was shot! In 1996, I finally got my wish & took a launch
from my cruise ship to the Isle. The launch's 'skipper' told me that he well
remembered, as a boy, these famous movie 'stars' visiting Capri! When
we landed at the dock, I asked him to point out Sophia Loren's house,
in the movie & to my surprise he simply said "Right here!", pointing to
a house, right on the dock! It felt like I was in the movie & Gable & Loren
were just around the corner! Great trip!
I remember when Gable died and Mom cried for days after! What a treat to see this clip.
3 packs a day, another heavy smoker. 4th heart attack killed him.
@Ivan Dalmatinac That too!
@@MostlyBrenda Gable died as a result of the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, oxycodone and alprazolam.
My mother cried when three stars died: Tyrone Power, Gable and Gary Cooper. They don't make 'em like they used to!
Few months later the king passes away. Never replaced...
Sophia Loren-one of the most beautiful women that ever drew breath.
More like draw a curtain~ not the most beautiful.
@@1SALADLOVER what do you mean by that?
@@marisettestlouis4781 what do you mean by that?
@@1SALADLOVER bro wtf u repeating the same shit? i asked a question what do u mean by what said 🙄
She’s still alive
I don't know if the interview was scripted or not but they play it so smooth. They were class acts in those days.
It sounds as scripted as a sitcom but it still works.
i had no idea Ed Sullivan was such a cool cucumber. Neither of those mega stars phased him in the least.
Mr Gable on TV!!
Clark era straordinario
Clark Gable um dos maiores do cinema de todos os tempos....
Sin duda alguna!
For one of Gable's most underrated performances, check out CHINA SEAS
He looked great in his Capt's uniform in that one!
Please upload the remaining two episodes that Clark Gable featured in, in 1953 and 1956. :)
I like the movie a lot. What a great story about ordinary people, their everyday life and love. On top of that, all those wonderful locations and dialogs. Did I mention that Sophia is the most beautiful italian actress ever? This movie is just yet another proof she is.
Seems like Gable played himself in all his movies
He was the KING and he could play them the way he wanted them.
Indeed. Which he always said he did himself. :)
Why not he was the King 🤴
it was a carefully constructed and protected persona
That was what was expected over movie stars in those days: Create a persona that you bring to the audience over & over. It took the Actors' Studio actors to change that dynamic.
Like James Dean Clark was being himself. But because their like night and day many people think that Clark was over acting or just a personality. You can see that’s the way he was in life.
Wish Clarkie didn't feel the need to smoke so much - or at all: we might have had him here longer
Different era, my father was from that era too I remember as kids buying him cartons of cigarettes - unfiltered. They really didn't know the effects back then, or maybe the companies did but didn't tell.
I love Clark, and when you see pictures of him, he almost always had a cigarette if not a pipe. Cary Grant, I'll guess was more health conciencious, I remember when he passed in his 80's. Errol Flynn passed at even a younger age than both. Errol Flynn was once called Warner Brothers counterpart to MGM's Gable.
@@Pulse2AM people aren't or weren't partaking of that because the doctor said or didn't say; they aren't or weren't stupid; they appreciate(d) something about it; for celebrities being in front of the camera it would have helped with that stress. yes, cutting down would help some. but on these videos in the comments there is always this tsk tsk thing going on which is so out of context. we have modern celebrities who are on screen and in interviews they are full of tsk tsk and little personality to be appreciated.
That’s how it was in that time. Literally everyone smoked.
The problem was clark didn’t know how bad those 🚬 were then and til results of health condition convinced sadly too late for late gable
Thanks !
wow!! that's so cool :)
Wrong. It’s was 63 years ago
Sophia Loren is still alive today!!!
seems a scene of a movie instead an interview.
This aired only a few months before Clark Gable died.
Scripted and rehearsed
cary grant was wise to never to any interviews. it protects the mystique
is this an actual interview or this this from a show?
It was an interview. But very staged & obviously scripted.
What was Clarke like in person..I always wondered. Even here he's sort of acting for the camera.
Actually, this is a highly entertaining film.
One of my favorites! Even though the film is 60+ years old,
it seems almost timeless! I saw it in 1960 & went to Capri,
years later, because of it!
Interesting to see, but I suppose the whole thing was scripted.
he exactly is Rhett in Gone with the wind
Clark is 33 years Older Than She Is
That is correct. He is 59 years old here. Sophia is 25 and her 26th birthday would be the next month on September 20.
Is this rehearsal?
I see why morgan free man loved this man clark
Reminds me Charles Bronson gestures or his brother
Why were they acting in interviews back then? Why couldn't they just let them talk what they wanted?
It sounds like they are acting.. not real🤷♀️
Fun to watch, but my god what a terribly produced piece. They seem stiff as hell and it’s clearly scripted and wasn’t rehearsed nearly enough.
They despised each other
They also despite you.
Foi o último filme de Clark Gable 😢
This is the most scripted interview I’ve ever seen
Did that idiot just bump into a lamp shade or something 0:28
Lmao is this a scripted interview 😂
Even the interview was scripted
The interview seems scripted.
Painfully obvious this is scripted
why so painful for you
