Honestly, what you did with the final phase of this fight was much better than what we got. I understood the official remake going for shorter, simpler, cuter sounding versions of the original tracks to fit the new art style that stayed true to the original sprites, instead of the much longer orchestral pieces from this remastered series (especially since you stated yourself you had to purposefully play bad and stall out the boss fights for your versions of the songs to finish just one loop since they’re so easy), but the final boss theme they added for Dethl doesn’t sound as climactic as it does here with how much the game built up to the island disappearing and the dread of wondering if what you were doing was really for the greater good or not. I listened to this remastered series back in 2015, while it was still running, even, and it makes me glad to see that your reimaginings of the music for this game still holds up today in its own right, alongside the remake’s versions of these tracks! I honestly really love your work and would love to hear your thoughts on the remake’s soundtrack!
Wow. This... Wow. The tone was EXACTLY as I imagined the Nightmare's theme to be, and the Final Battle with Dethl... Wow. Marin's singing in the background was incredible. This truly IS the Final Boss of Link's Awakening. Wow. This is incredible...
ironically the remake of LA(DX) didn't go as far for it. In fact, it was pretty pathetic OST wise in compare to this arrange and this guy's whole OST arrangement! Like I felt insulted by the official remake on so many levels that this fanmade OST alone was such a blessing upong discovering it that it healt my heart of the pain the remake caused me! ♥
Some people did not like it that the final form uses the mini-boss music. I think it is perfect. The Nightmares are so increasingly desperate to stop you that the last one resorts to just wildly swinging at you in a very damaging but also very predictable way, the same way all mini-bosses except Blaino have one attack. You made the right decision to consider it part of the final boss music, but make it sound more epic, because the final fight may be simple, but the stakes are highest.
This was pretty awesome, honestly. I especially like how... y'know, I was struggling to find the correct word, but "tragic" is what comes to mind the quickest. It's tragic. That last half - the frantic fight against the Nightmare's last form - has a very "tragic" theme to it. The music, that is. It has a sense of finality, regardless of the shape of said finality? It almost sounded sad, bittersweet... like you know what's going to happen, what you're doing, what you're GOING to do to the island, but the wheels, the cogs, are already in effect; there's no turning back, now. I don't know... I can't words, today. Regardless, you did an excellent job with this cover, and this has definitely been an amazing journey, every step of the way. Good job.
Link's awakening was my very first adventure/rpg game and I fell in love with the genre ever since. It is my favorite game and this arrangement was fantastic! So menacing and sinister with a little bit of despair! It absolutely fits well with the tragic theme of the game. This deserves more views!
+Lucien Pendragon Same! The whole bittersweet feeling and the ending just *gets* you. Plus the soundtrack and script were just genius! This videogame thaught me tons of english, too.
That would be a nice touch! And a nice call back to the Oracle Games (and the internet will explode thinking it's a hint Nintendo's remaking those games as well....which I wouldn't say no to...)
if I had designed the remake, oh boi, this would have been one final extra, esp if one considers the official timeline. Im more disappointed from the remake, heck even calling that feels like an insult. Its an HD/modernized port with some changed nobody rly asked for, like removing the sidequests about Mouser(?) from SMB2 and his photos you take throughout the game, heck with the switch I would have imagined you could have done even more photos or at least recapture the old ones in a beatiful modern version of it. Heck you could even print them nowadays since the photos could be saved on the SD card in the switch and thus you could print them via modern technology :/
This fight used to be so frustrating to me as a kid -- you make it look so easy until that last stage. You do this game so much justice with your compositions, I seriously love the crap out of what you do.
I just figured out the other day where I heard the BOTW sequel music from... it's eerie how close it is to this song - ruclips.net/video/3fr1Z07AV00/видео.html Also note the creepy eyes, eyes were always a huge theme with the nightmares. and... well BOTW is a huge treasure trove of "nods" to the history of Zelda so anyone could back up their crazy theories but it would be so cool if they brought back the 'energy' of the nightmares to the sequel to BOTW... One of the skeletons that you take pictures of is the Wind Fish so it's obvious that it's not the same situation as Link's Awakening
@@AzureOctive it has been noted by some fans that the castle theme in botw, the hyrule castle one, has some links awakening music influence in it, at least something else has been influenced by that.
you did a amazing and worderful job this music is sounds similar to the first the phase of final boss in the remake of Legend of Zelda Links Awakening especially in the first half of this music.
If in the remake the final phase is not AT LEAST on par with what you did (adding choirs and a hint of Ballad of the Windfish), I will be VERY disappointed in Nintendo.
The official one is nowhere near the quality of this one, although it does reprise the wind fish theme a bit. The official theme for the first few phases is a fucking BANGER, though.
@@mammothplant I heavily disagree that hte new nightmare theme for the first phases are any kind of better then what this video here did to them. It feels insultive overall when u listen to this FAN orchestral arrangement and then u listen to the remake game where only 10% of all songs come near the vision of the original game or its orchestration in this series of orchestral arrangements by this person here.
Maybe it's just because I love Leitmotifs, but I love how you included the Ballad of the Wind Fish. I found you through Undertale (the game that helped introduce me to Leitmotifs, along with things like Star Wars or Kingdom Hearts... sometimes) and I haven't listened to a single arrangement by you that I didn't find amazing. Whether it is Final Fantasy, Undertale, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda... everything you make is amazing. I'm almost 17. When I turn 18 (or get a job... Marching Band Leadership is time consuming) I will make sure to become a Patron. I haven't found anyone on RUclips that makes arrangements as amazing as yours.
This theme is basically telling you time is running out. Dethl is about to break through the dimensional fabric between dreams and reality and will eventually enter the real world and destroy everything. He must be stopped. Very intense remix. I love how you added the vocal effect for the final form theme.
Interesting interpretation. But in-game, there is never any indication the nightmares wanted to do anything besides keeping the Wind Fish asleep and ruling Koholint Island. They were pretty small scale compared to other Zelda villains.
***** I always thought Vaati was the Zelda incarnation of Dark Matter/Zero from Kirby, and the Dethl the Zelda incarnation of the Nightmare from Kirby.
+Thirteen 1355 I know it's quite QUITE late but did you know that Veran from oracle of ages reuses the sprite of Nightmare in her spirit-like (Nonphysical) form? Back then I always thought Veran was the Nightmare Pack but as I grew older I realised that most likely they just reused sprites.
While I think this theme is missing more "beat" and the transition to the Dethl part was rushed, 2:07 is simply EPIC! Nonetheless, it's a great rendition.
this is a completely awesome mix i love it from the beginnig til the end. one billion thumbs up :D but i have just one little complain (if you could call it that) the transition in the boss battle from the main theme to the final theme. you surely could it done better ;)

Couldn't have said it better myself.
+Jishkah Well said. Kind-of reminds me of the sad state of Termina in Majora's Mask.
Wait the WHOLE game just to see Ganon! They were fools to not use your work for the switch version Mr. Sun

Awesome transition into Ballad of the Wind Fish during Dethl's theme.
I'd like to imagine that in the remake the Nightmares will take the forms of Veran and Onox from the oracle games as well.

Yup because you had to multitask with this final boss and as a kid who brain is still developing it is difficult
What a fight... and at this point of the game, you know the price the island will pay to get rid of the nightmare...
Love the entire song. And you somehow manage to give the mini boss theme a whole new meaning of epic.
Very well done. Shivers went down my spine at the end
I always found it really annoying that Dethl used the mini-boss theme...but you make it sound better XD

So excited!!! Almost there :) This is wonderful!
That certainly went a lot harder and had more soul than the official remaster. Well done~
...i dont know how many hours of my Lifetime I was in this Chamber....
Can't wait for remake on Nintendo Switch
I like this boss, its like a combination of some of the best (2d) zelda bosses - this music you did goes really well with it!
Dude... This nails it. This one and The Truth (and the frog song ;D) are absolutely the best. Top notch man!
They need to make a remake of this!!
Dreams come true

Heheheh...HEHEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now this...this does the great King of Nightmares proper justice. LONG LIVE KING DETHL!!!
I will never refer to him as that godawful and unimaginative pun. Never.
_Wait..._ Is Nightmare Dark Matter from Kirby?
The Exiled Nomad. No, dark matter can possess people, but can't invade dreams.

Kinda wish in the ganon form you used the alttp ganon background beats
that's a great idea. i didn't think about that!
It took me weeks when I was a kid to find that the blob phase was vulnerable to magic powder...
I never knew until now, it takes an eternity with a sword
Anyone else noticed that Dethl bears a striking resemblance to Dark Matter / Zero from kirby? both deal in nightmares, have one eye, etc.

Justin Birth Yeah, they are reused sprites. Not the same being. The Nightmare is clearly more 'demonic.'

Tis a Shame that the Nightmare Within Link Could not escape. Surely there would have been no better avatar for me to Roam Hyrule in.
22/2-2016. Shadows.
this is a completely awesome mix i love it from the beginnig til the end.

the transition in the boss battle from the main theme to the final theme.
you surely could it done better ;)
Not gonna lie, I actually expected it to be better, nonetheless I liked it. Awesome work TSN!
Mooldorm was my personal nightmare
Could you try to do Link to the Past
Smells like moldy jazz
Like Botw
