See if you can find out what percentage of drop off in the JR pass there has been since the big price increase. I always get one but in the future I will have to work out if it is worth it. I suspect in my case it probably will be as I give it a fair working over.

I'm not sure exactly how much the number of people has decreased, but previously there used to be long queues, whereas now there were no queues.

Lovely couple, if I may say so. We had seen you and now we get to see your very pretty wife.
I've seen this kind of crowd waiting (sometimes even made to wait outside, for security reasons or "philosophy" (in the USSR where even passengers had to wait outside in the cold).
I prefer the way it is done in Washington DC, where everyone gets to sit down and can see people coming out from Baggage Claim. Long back (some 25 years ago, it used to be like this till they made a separate exit for international passengers).
The Suica line looked very unwelcome. Any chance of using cash (no coins) to buy the ticket and avoid the Suica line? What about the bus? Do they take credit cards/cash?

My wife is glad to hear your comment, thanks 😄
About SUICA, my recommendation is to get the SUICA even if you are in the long line when you get it. Once you get the SUICA, you can get on/off the trains/buses smoothly.
Of course, you can get on the train/bus with coins, but everytime you have to buy the ticket, it's inconvenient.
Adding this, you can't get the tickets with credit cards.
